Sabrent USB to DB25 Female Parallel Converter Adapter 6ft Cable
Comment:
WIN XP sensed and installed the virtual USB port on 1st power up with only the cable installed and printer powered off. Manually added printer when I powered it on following booting up to Desktop. Did not need driver mini-CD. Had to pick USB2 given that the 1st USB assignment was taken. Just tried to test print to one (USB1), then, the other USB2 virtual port to get it functioning. Deleted the USB1 virtual port not used (in Printers and Faxes) to steer clear of confusion. Correct bi-directional printing to a PSC500 printer on a newer mobo without having a parallel port - saved a operating printer from oblivion. None. Worked as advertised. Advise to others: research your purchases. Seeking at the mini-CD with drivers, it appeared to be for older OS's, not Win XP or Vista. These newer Operating Systems should auto-configure on energy-up with the Plug and Pray function. This is a no-brainer for parallel port printers when you do not have a parallel port on newer motherboards. Excellent value and only about ū for shipping...

Simple to use. Worked as advertised. I required to use my old parallel-port printer cable with this cable, as a "gender mender, so I could hook to the printer"

Comment:
My old Pc lately died. I purchased a new Computer running Vista that did not have a DB25 port on it and required to hook up my older model HP LaserJet 1100 that has a DB25 cable. So far this cable seems to work fine, & I am printing with it from the aforementioned Vista Pc and also a networked XP Pc. If you have an older printer, and the employees at your nearby pc retailer are telling you to buy a new printer simply because they don't carry the necessary cable to convert, give this a attempt initial. A lot less expensive than replacing a completely good printer. The environment will thank you also. No solid guidelines integrated. Nevertheless, see under for my expertise installing it. If you are operating XP or Vista, ignore the disk that comes with the cable - it only has drivers for older versions of Windows. I had troubles at first with the cable... what finally worked was to plug the cable in by itself & THEN after Windows identified it and installed the driver for the cable, plugged the printer into the cable. Windows then installed the printer drivers. (Perhaps a rookie error, but a single that is easy to make & I wasted a bunch of time producing it so want to spare others the practical experience!) Windows assigned my printer to a USB virtual printer port.

I hooked this up to my HP1100 Laserjet, and Windows discovered it quickly... prints with no difficulties even as a shared network printer. None. I was rather unhappy to locate that a lot of motherboard makers chose to forego the trusty parallel port in their newer offerings ... basically put, I've had to transform out my motherboard in order to use a more quickly processor, only to discover that I could no longer use my laser printer or more than two of my IDE drives. I don't have the income to replace completely excellent equipment such as this printer, and it must not be necessary--in quick, any mobo maker who refuses to take compatibility with generally-employed small business equipment into account has lost my $ from now on.

I'm positive that it will speak to printers. The description indicates that this device emulates a parallel port. This is not correct. The driver only supplies generic printing help, so other devices that use a parallel port will not operate.

none for my unique case. Does not supply a LPT port. Like another reviewer, I'm not making use of a printer, I need to have a parallel port for an FPGA board, connecting by means of Xilinx Parallel three cable. Nothing at all is recognized with this "parallel" adapter USB cable, so it's useless in my case, and I'll have to buy a different a single. Would be nice if they referred to as this a USB "parallel printer" cable rather of a "parallel" adapter, and told us that it does not provide a LPT parallel port.

If it works for you, good. Apparently, these issues are unpredictable. It didn't operate on my new Dell Latitude D830 connected to an HP LaserJet 4000. The computer recognized the printer by way of the adapter, but it couldn't print the test page. I got a different brand locally that also didn't work. What lastly worked for me was an Archeon brand adapter. But you may well get various final results.

Yay!! I can finally use my old laser printer with my new windows 7ኜ computer system! Brilliant. none The printer was not instantly recognized by Windows 7 when I plugged it in, but I was in a position to manually add the printer. Also, you do will need to preserve your existing parallel printer cable due to the fact this converter plugs into the old cable, not into the printer.

Works. Sooner or later.Note the valuable comments by JF twoቲ񳏇. The couple of hoops I had to go through to cease XP from repeatedly telling me it had found new hardware. Note: This possibly an XP issue, my ignorance of the finer specifics of USB devices (since I haven't seen this reported by other reviewers), or a cable device concern. It wouldn't stop me acquiring the item once again. Used to dealing with operating process issues - sadly! Pc is Dell VOSTRO operating XP SP2I attached the printer cable adapter 1st. XP found the new USB device. Appear beneath 'Universal Serial Bus controllers' you will see 'USB Printing Help'I then attached the printer HP DeskJet 820Cse. XP located new hardware and installed drivers with no fussPrinted no dilemmaThen I re-booted the Pc. XP told it had discovered new printer hardware again. If I ignored this message and did not total the installation I found that I could no longer print to the HP.I rebooted again and got exact same located hardware message. This time I did the install and now had two HP printer devices one labeled 'HP DeskJet 820Cse', the other 'HP DeskJet 820Cse (Copy 1)'I found I could print to (Copy 1) but not to the original HP printer device.I rebooted many instances and by no means got 'new hardware located' message once moreI deleted the original HP printer device and re-labeled it to 'HP DeskJet 820Cse'No install message given that

Cheep No LPT port Probably must have guessed this from the critiques, but this cable will NOT give you an LPT port. It provides you a Virtual printer port which isn't the exact same as an LPT port and is only valuable for printing. Newegg need to make this more clear in these forms of products.
