Comment:
Works specifically as advertised, I utilised it to connect an old parallel port printer to my laptop or computer's USB port. No troubles have but occured. It didn't remedy cancer. I purchased this when I located out that the motherboard I was upgrading to featured no parallel port. It is my understanding that parallel ports in common are beginning to be phased out in favor of a lot more USB devices. On the other hand, I have never actually bothered to preserve up on the printer technologies race, so this adapter will fit my demands for the intermediate future.

Nice color. Wanted to use a 25-pin dongle for computer software requiring it, by way of USB port. Did absolutely nothing. Employing XP. Apparently the way to go is with a parallel printer card for the new laptop or computer.

Comment:
There are a lot of "USB to Parallel Printer" adapters on the marketplace, but the majority of these goods fail to function with all printers. This item is distinct due to the fact rather than go from USB to a Centronics connector for the printer, it instead merely provides a completely functional parallel port, to which you could conceivably connect something! As far as your operating technique and printer are conscious, there is no functional distinction between a traditional parallel port and this device. It worked with just about every printer I tested ྫ of them), including 15-year-old HP LaserJets and ink-jets, some ten-year-old Epson ink-jets, and a range of laser and ink-jet printers that are significantly newer. You will require a normal cable for your printer (full or mini-sized Centronics to 25-pin). Just about every parallel printer cable has male screws on the 25-pin end, and regrettably, so does this adapter. That means when you try to connect the printer cable to this parallel adapter cable, they both have male screws and it is not doable to tighten them together. However, these ancient connector housing becoming what they are, they have a great pressure fit, and I did not come across the lack of tightening to be a issue whatsoever. It just looks silly when you stare at it for a second. The market is full of old printers nonetheless in excellent operating order, but lacking USB connectivity. Such was the case for me; I have a number of HP LaserJets 񢪄, 2100, 1100, 6P, 5L, 4L) that all work like they day they had been new, but don't function with modern computers that lack a parallel connection. I tested all of these printers with this device and every one of them worked perfectly, as expected.

Merely functions. Isn't plug and play. With MS XP one has to fiddle about with many obscure dialog boxes, turning equpiment on in order given by an earlier reviewer. In SuSE Linux, just hook the cables up and print ;)

Did what it's suppose to. Has been working fine. Took a bit of time locating the appropriate Virtual Printer port for it to operate. When connected to the printer the Computer in no way detected it (Plug and Play) so I had to manually add the printer. Would be nice if it came with some detail instructions and perhaps some troubleshooting.

Like so several new mother boards, the parallel port is going bye-bye. If you have a parallel printer like me, this adapter functions good. The driver disk that comes with it is only for Windows 98SE. You don't require any drivers for this adapter under present Window OS's. Just plug it in. You will of course require the printer or device driver. Now Windows 7 did not have my older HP printer listed, but when I did a Windows update immediately after I plugged the printer to the adapter, it located it and installed the driver. Works fantastic! None. Information on item at the Sabrent internet web-site.

Saved me the cost of purchasing a new laser printer. Package did not list Windows Vista...but I tried it anyway. When "adding the new printer" be confident to add it to a USB port. I did not have to install drivers mainly because they were already on my new HP Windows Vista desktop computer. I'm going to buy yet another 1 of these cables and have it as a spare.

Uncomplicated install. This only works with printers. The drivers generate a virtual printer port that works with Windows print service. Any other device that requirements to access port LPT1: directly will not perform.

Functions great with laptop that doesn't have parallel printer port. All I had to do was plug into laptop, WinXP reconized the adapter cable, then plugged the printer cable into this adapter and my cannon bubble jet printer came up. Didn't have to mess with any drivers. Functions wonderful! Could've produced a version with a shorter cable. Saved me from having to acquire one more printer just to use with laptop.

It works. Windows XP - just plug it in to USB port, connect it to HP LJ5 parallel printer, and it just worked. Doesn't come with a cost-free Porsche 911... ;-) Stuff that functions and doesn't expense much is good.

Plug in, and use, its that uncomplicated, did not have to use included driver disk, adds legacy printer port to new motherboard via usb none so far Working with for laserjet 5n with scanner attachment, required d-25 female connector, plug in, os loaded print driversprinter is up and going, if you have an old printer that demands a d-25 connector, it does not get any simpler than this.

Properly, it works, but it was not a smooth install. To be fair, it the adapter loaded fine, on Windows 7. However, to get the suitable HP driver was a challenge. Once more, it works, but it was a challenge. Also, not in a position to see the scanner on this multi-function printer. It loaded extremely well on Windows 7.

It works just like it is suppose to. No documentation for installation or troubleshooting. Did not function with Toshiba e-STUDIO 161 using default installation settings. Windows XP Pro detected and installed the hardware rapidly and basically. Following some tinkering I figured out that with this certain Toshiba printer/copier model the "Enable bidirectional support" has to be disabled otherwise it fails to print. The only dilemma with this is that you receive no feedback from the printer about out of paper or toner level.

Did not read the description and ordered it without having needing it. Appears to be a cable. It looks like a cable. And the packaging stated it was a cable. I consequently can not belittle the poor cable. Do your homework just before buying a cable. If you don't require it, it will expense you much more to return it than it is worth. Hence it is destined to spend the rest of its cable life in the drawer of lost cables. I am Value Added and I approved this message.

The cable did precisely what I expected it to do, quickly and very easily at that. Comes with a driver disc but wasn't required (I honestly don't even know what's on it). None My boss got a new laptop at perform and was told by the IT guy that her LaserJet 2100 was too old to justify the ๖ or so it would expense to get it hooked up. Huh? I was already ordering one thing for myself and told her I'd appear into it and located this cable for ฟ.Following plugging the cable into the docking station Windows 7 promptly said my usb device was ready. Then I connected the printer and usb cables together and Windows automatically detected the printer, downloaded and installed the drivers and it was ready to go. It took about three minutes if that long. All I had to do was set it as the default printer. It doesn't get considerably less complicated than that.

Installed the item for a customer with an HP DeskJet 832C. Now works like a charm Right after install, the product worked for a couple days just before Windows stopped recognizing it. The USB hub on their Inspiron laptop seemed to not like the part anymore -- immediately after plugging this adapter in through a USB hub as suggested in a different comment it has been working fine for months. NewEgg rocks!

Plugged it into the printer and then the computer. It auto installed the print drivers and I was up and running inside 1 minute! I ran it from the printer cable, and not directly from the printer since many people seemed to have issues attempting to run it like that. I necessary the extra length anyways. I don't like the nasty blue/chrome appearance of the thing, kinda a wierd selection given that it's a printer cable. XP Property w/SP3--->HP Laserjet 1300
