Finally entering the new millennium I bought a couple of these drives on sale. These are my first SATA optical drives. So far no problems reading old burned CD-roms. I'm happy

A simple, cheap drive that is great value for money when on sale. The embodiment of "it just works" for me, and would definitely purchase again when putting together a new build.

it's very easy to install and is very quiet in comparison to my graphics card and 4 other fans in my case. Can't hear it at all when in use.just install it and it'll work like a charm. in fact, I recommend having two!

Purchased this for a new computer build. Installed Win7 with no issues, along with other software. Burns with no problems. For $20 cant go wrong.

I had to grab another dvd drive of mine, install windows 7, and then put this drive in there to upgrade the firmware/drivers. Now, it works perfectly

Bought this on sale. Good enough, I mean, how much performance do you need from one of these for normal use. A little loud but fine.

0 Problems at all, installed very easily, works perfectly and it was on sale for cheap! I do not foresee any problems with it in the future

Bought this for a customer's PC build. I usually get either this 24X model or the 22X version (whichever is on sale). I like the solidity of the tray itself. I can't comment on disc compatibility issues because I always use cheap RiData CDs and DVDs which work perfectly.

We go this when it was on sale for $20. A solid DVD burner for 20 bucks, who can complain at that! You don't need more than sata 1 (1.5 Gb/s transfer rate) because these drives can't read data even that fast. Buy it!

Samsung usually makes quality stuff and this is no different. Got it on sale for less than $20. Performs fine and installs as usual. No SATA cables or burner software provided though, the last dvd drive I had from Samsung did come with one.

Great deal when on sale. Haven't had any problems reading or writing yet, and have burned several TY DVD-R's. Installed with XP Pro.

Using Nero 9 to burn with. It takes about 20 minutes to read/burn 4 at once.it work good. A bit louder than I'm used to.

Got this fast Samsung DVD drive on sale. No issues so far, works as expected. I buy whatever is cheapest from reputable brands. They all seem to have similar fail rates.

Got this for $20 on sale and really can't complain about anything. I originally got it for my HTPC but I swapped out my main computers DVD drive for this one since my original was making grinding sounds when i booted up. This drive does NOT have that issue which is fantastic because it was driving me nuts.It's as fast as it needs to be and relatively silent. I've read you can reduce the speed if you want it quieter.For $20 it's a no brainer.

No screws or sata cable provided so make sure you have those sitting around. You can hear it when it's working but it's not bad.

Brought it because I just got a new computer and have a new motherboard that doesn't support PATA.I haven't used much since I use it primarily for read only, and so far it read it fairly fast.

This performs better than my LG burner in my other system. This one does not stick from time to time and feels sturdier when it opens.

I grabbed this for 20$ on special. Probably the lowest price ever for a 24x burner! There's no reason not to buy one, except if you don't have SATA or don't like the black color. I haven't burned all that much yet, but for reading DVD it's great, albeit a bit noisy - I guess that's expected for such a fast burner!

I got this drive on special for $19.99 and so far it has performed very well. I use it primarily to read, but even with severe scratches, I have had no issues with its' capability. Great product.

Used this for a friend's build. Found it on the sales page for $20 bucks. Not sure if DVD Writers have changed at all over the past couple years but it works and the price is right. I wish they would start working on getting these drives to be whisper quiet now. That would be a pretty good selling point.

Writes DVD's well.New generation of shallow drives don't take up as much space in the case but the tray wobbles a bit up and down, left and right, unlike my older NEC and Pioneer drives. Not a huge issue but just something I noticed.

Another great burner from Samsung. I put their burners in all my machines, for $20 on sale you really cannot go wrong with one of these.

i have nothing bad to say about this burner and have bought 4 to date for pcs i have assembled. samsung always has high quality electronics and this burner is no exception

This drive performs as expected from the specification sheet. The SATA connection is great for cable management. The only small downside is the noise it produces when having a dvd in it, but I do not have a dvd in it 24/7 so its fine.
