It fits very nicely in the case and is super easy to install. Havn't tried burning yet but it runs programs and reads them quite fast. Great buy for budget build computer.

I was getting 20x out of Verbatim DVD+R out of my earlier Samsung (rated at 20x), now 16x. The Verbatim DVD-R burns at 20x now (18x before). Anybody know what media will burn at 24x?

I use this about 5 or 6 times per week and so far no coasters. For the price of 20.00 on sale I have to give it five stars. For 20 bucks how can anyone complain so long as it works at all.

I put these dvd burners in most of the PC's I build for customers and they're all very satisfied.I've bought 6 of these burners in the last 3 months and have had no RMA's.They work great and are quiet.Just having dvd rom is worth the price alone.A great buy.

I got one of these on sale, although not as low as some of the other reviewers did. However, it was still relatively inexpensive and suited my needs for reading disks when necessary and occasional burning. This is the third Samsung burner I have bought, since my former preference (Pioneer) were no longer available. They have all been different models, but have done journeyman duty. I can't say that I have been thrilled with them, but they've just been there and done the job. No failures yet, but I don't push them, either.The drive is, as others have mentioned, a tad noisy on reads, but nothing that I find particularly offensive. I tend to be relatively tolerant of such things.Oh, and if you need software, this is not the one to get.

Got it on sale for $20 and can't really complain about it for the price I got it for. Works just like every other DVD burner. I rarely used it so I don't know if it fails easily during burning.

What can I say it's a DVD reader/burner that works well, it's really nice not having to use IDE ribbon cable anymore SATA is obviously great for cable management.

Bought this for a new desktop. Works perfectly as intended. Haven't burned anything with it yet, but it reads flawlessly.

I bought this drive in hopes it would be more silent then my LG 22x, for HD playback it is a bit more quiet, for standard playback it is actually more noisy.a big plus is this drive does not pause the system like my LG IDE drive did, I dont know if its the sata or not but what a difference in smooth windows when popping in disks one after the other.For noise I am disappointed with the drive out of the box but then I went to slow it down with a dvd drive tool and it worked, running it at 8x makes it silent and fast enough to playback 1080p perfectly smooth. My old LG drive was not supported by any of the dvd drive tools I tried.So overall getting this drive on a good sale then using a drive tool to slow it down and make it silent for silent movie playback it works perfectly. One down side is most tools currently only support 16x max so it can be annoying to get your full speed back when you need it.

It's an average joe cd/dvd writer. Price is awesome when it's on sale. It reads pretty fast.But downside is it's pretty noisy. But most cd/dvd rom these days runs fast and therefore you can't really do anything about being noisy when it spins to read or write.

Get it on sale or don't get it at all, this is your most basic bare-bones DVD burner. No software, no poorly-translated installation guide. I haven't had a problem with it yet, though I haven't pushed it too hard either. Worst case scenario: get another on sale!

I got this on sale for like 20$ a pop. For that price you can't go worng and it did his job as expected and problems up to now.

Works as intended, but mine seems to vibrate abnormally compared the other burners I've used. Hopefully I just received a bad copy and that it isn't representative of the model.

this burner works great. 24x is fast enough to me. it support DVD+-R DL as well. brings 8.5G volume support. however, not sure it supports DVD+-RW, this format is not on the spec list tho. but not a big deal to me.

I just bought this DVD writer for my new computer. Samsung is doing great stuff at great price. New 24X speed is appreciated. SATA is a must.

I just purchased this on the weekly special to put in a new system and it works fine.It recognises disks quickly and is as quiet as any other drive I have.There's not much to say, I've only had it for one day, but it reads DVD's and CD's fine, and has burned a couple DVD's at 16X with no issues.Good drive, good price.
