Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Comment:
This very easily fits a GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard, but will block the initial set of ram sockets. It gives an extremely quiet answer on a Phenom II 705e. The 120mm fan is operating inside 600-900RPM at idle and load, respectively. The low height and robust cooling solution make it a good option for a Media Center make. The fan was extremely large and there was a degree of difficutly trying to match the mounting brackets with the power provide in the case. The initial ram sockets getting blocked dampers future memory upgrades.

Keeps my Phenom II x4 840 processor super cool, 37c beneath load max! Ridiculously straightforward to install, and it's quite incredibly quiet. Only seems to want to run at 750RPM max in my technique. I didn't obtain one particular sooner. I used arctic silver 5 as an alternative of the thermal paste that was integrated. Phenom II x4 840 Stock HSF: load 48c and was generating the infamous whirling noiseAthlon II x2 HSF on the Phenom: 42c high pitched fan noiseBig shariken: load 37c and in-audioable more than my PSU fan.

Great and small, similar size as my Pioneer receiver and really unassuming. Initially buddy that came over asked me exactly where my laptop was when I opened a internet web page. Very effectively built each in terms of high quality and layout. Let's you have a quite effective computer for an htpc and it stays cool. I'm seeing 38c on the cpu and 39c on my HD4670 at idle ࿊c and 55c respectively below load). A small cramped but that's kind of the point. No led but that's what I wanted as well. The stock fans are a little louder than I would like. I"m acquiring a schythe fan controller that I hope settles that but decrease rpm fans may possibly also operate. Over all I'm seriously pleased with this case. I have room to upgrade the video card if I want to and two hard drives, an SSD and a blueray are lots of storage.

Had purchased a low-profile heatsink from a different company. Wasn't enthused, so I went with this and I'm glad I did. High quality is noticeable right away upon unboxing. Base plate finish is excellent. Assembly is top notch. Deciding on the proper bracket (AM3 in my case) and fitting it more than the CPU is a breeze. This factor also completely fits over my motherboard, the ASUS M4A88T-I. I noticed a 6C drop in CPU temperatures by altering only the heatsink (same thermal paste). And the thing is fairly significantly silent... just a genius style and major-notch excellent. It costs dollars? Okay there is a single issue but it's a nitpick. I feel this truth has been talked about prior to but the fan blows down through the cooling element. At load when the cooling element is warmer, you could discover a temperature boost on your most important board (I saw a 1C improve). You do the math even though... -6C on CPU vs. ƯC on mainboard? Yeah, I'll take it in a heartbeat! If you are restricted for space in your case and require some thing that's low-profile, I really feel like this is your finest selection. It performs excellent, looks cool and is reasonably cheap. Get it!

Large! I paired it with a Nexus PWM Series D12SL-12PWM 120mm Case Fan and it cools my AMD 955 quad core 6 degrees Celsius cooler, But its virtually silent from where i sit. As soon as you start out watching a movie you don't hear it at all in my HTPC case. my ATI HD5770 is essentially louder. somewhat challenging to set up. But that is why it is low profile. I didn't have any problems with my OCZ mem sticks, then once more they had regular heat shields on them I had to replace the stock heat sink and fan since it just sounded like a jet engine in my living space. Attempt to watch a film or Television that's all i heard.

Extremely recommend this fan for HTPC and comparable. Quite low profile. The fan itself is only 13mm thick. Typical usage on an Intel i7-920 keeps the process operating around 32-36 degrees Celsius. It's a incredibly quiet fan just about inaudible. I purchased this cooler just before any critiques had been made but it doesn't make for a great cooler when gaming. Trying Crysis 64 bit at 1680 x 1050 on Very High runs the processor at around 48 degrees. The width will block other parts on the MB which includes its own mounting brackets. The mounting brackets need to be far more made to load sideways. It's a great get for the cost but I wouldn't recommend it for gaming by any implies.

Looks brilliant, and definitely can currently see the top quality of the product. Sadly it's extremely wide and not high enough (low profile). Wasn't in a position to use it. It doesn't fit with all 4 memory slots full, plus it barely goes more than the heatsinks on the mobo. Be cautious when ordering. It's an wonderful product (overall good quality), nonetheless really huge and I don't feel it would fit on most motherboards, specially if using all four ram slots.

Was at a good cost point in combo with free Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fan. It feels and looks of solid make good quality. The integrated fan is natively 4-pin PWM. Involves mounting gear for any platform...such as Sckt478. I feel that it's as well low. I installed it prior to my RAM and I couldn't slip in the stick into DIMM01 with it on. Had to pull it off, fill DIMM01 then move on. Not a large deal, but just an inconvenience. It's base is not copper, but rather a polished shiny surface, (not sure if it's copper underneath, but doubt it). my 940be @ 1.325v idles idles @ 48C with AMBIENT @ 21C---according to CoreTemp. Kinda hot, but not the worst for sitting an Antec Veris Fusion 430. Heat sinked RAM won't function at all if the can't clear the Big Shuriken--------bottom line: I wish it were a bit taller. The fan included is a profile variety & doesn't seem to move substantially air. It's great sufficient to take into account. I'll be using it without having substantially concern.

This is 1 of the lowest heatsink+fans on the industry. I believed I required a low heatsink for my V351, but after putting this in, there was tons of clearance left.Installation wasn't as well negative on a 890gxm-g65, even though I did have to use a pair of pliers to close the latch that was partially blocked by the chipset heatsink. The fan is upgradable to a 140mm Kaze Maru which can move even much more air. You can not use DIMMs with a heat spreader since there is not adequate clearance. I had to cut a tooth off of my Ripjaws DIMMs to make it fit, otherwise the heat pipe would rest on top rated of it. Then once again, because it overlaps, the fan blow down onto the DIMMs

* Extremely low profile. * Incredibly quiet. * Basic installation with great small clip-in brackets.* Wonderful balance of noise, cooling, and height. * Tiny in-box installation aid - just some low-rez pics on the side of the box show how to attach the brackets.* Push-pins are *under* the heat sink fins. * Would have preferred a bit far more height and bit much less "spread".I've got relatively smaller fingers and the push pins were difficult. for the last pin, ended up sliding pliers head in on best and pushing it in that way. Check motherboard measurements cautiously! This HS is spreads out and can block memory slots or card slots on a Micro-ATX board.Don't take the Cons as well seriously: just know what you're acquiring and why. I suggest this HS for HTPC builds where it fits the MB.

Low profile, lots of metal to dissipate the heat, mirror finish on the sink itself, 120mm fan, practically silent. The attaching mechanism for Intel options. If you have ever knowledgeable the displeasure of attaching a stock Intel heat sink that utilizes these worthless plastic pins, then you know specifically what I'm talking about. I picked this up locally to install on a ASUS P7H55-M PRO to stuff inside of a LIAN LI Computer-V351B. Little did I know that the subsequent hour would be pure hell attempting to get this factor on, with the board outside of the case. The pins are tucked under the mushroom shaped heat sink, so attempting to reach in with two fingers, push the pin down so it goes via the motherboard hole and trying to twist it to lock it in place is a feat Houdini himself would be hard pressed to pull off. Once 1 is locked in, the other three rise that substantially farther up off of the board. When you try to get yet another pin locked in (attaching in an X pattern for equal pressure distribution) then the 1st pin pops out, or the pin is a hair from becoming in a position to being to be twisted to lock it in. I have built more than my fair share of rigs, and this was by far the most aggravating heat sink I have ever attempted to install and Ive used tons of them. Attaching it on an AMD board might be a snap, I can't say for positive. As soon as installed it appears to do the job properly. 37c at room temperature in my micro atx box.

Large fan, low profile, slightly decrease noise, great cooling. Tough set up as there's a 120mm fan directly over your clamp-down brackets. This dropped my CPU temp 20 degrees C. It took me forever to install mainly because I didn't want to take away the motherboard. It would likely be less complicated to install out of the case. It makes use of the exact same clamp variety as the stock cooler does, but the fan and heat sink are above the 'push and rotate' pins. It's a tight squeeze for major fingers. Great, great cooling and it's super low profile. I have an HTPC case and it leaves a lot of space.

Quite quiet, and efficient.CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 My stock cooler ran @ 41c idle, and 61c load.(The stock cooler is of very poor excellent even though.)This cooler manages 36c idle, and only 43c load.(Tested playing SC2, and also tested with Video encoding.)Even below load I do not notice the fan, and my technique sits on my desk in a Thermaltake Lanbox Lite. I had to take away 2 (out of 4) of my ram heatspreaders (Mushkin Blacklines) due to lack of clearance. I knew this was a possibility just before I ordered this HS/F. Because the fan blows by the cooler and down onto the MOBO I don't think it will matter as the ram will get continuous cooling. I would not hesitate to obtain this unit once again. Fits my SFF desktop situation perfectly, and runs whisper quiet.Really like it.

Low-profile; low-cost; simple mounting procedure; PWM fan connector; quiet, replaceable fan. It's wide, and practically touches my RAM modules. Consequently I am not able to use RAM modules with tall heatsinks. This might or might not be a con for you, so review your motherboard's layout carefully prior to acquiring. OK, I have a Lian-Li V600B case, which in spite of its good looks has a peculiar interior configuration that prohibits tall heatsinks. This was my main concern. I required a low-profile cooler. On the other hand I wanted one thing was quiet (computer in bedroom) and a thing with decent cooling performance when I necessary it (gaming).Getting quite pleased with the quiet set of Scythe fans I installed in my situation and on my GPU, I believed I'd give this CPU cooler a go.My CPU -- Phenom II X720 (not OC'ed) -- has a 95W TDP. With this heatsink installed it idles at 29C and maxes at just over 45C. I ran Prime95 multi-threaded for 24 hours to pressure-test.In addition, the PWM connection keeps the fan quiet when I'm not executing anything CPU-intensive (such as sleeping six feet away).I'm guessing that this cooler is possibly not a excellent option for you if you do any critical overclocking or have a processor with a high TDP. On the other hand, it fits my demands PERFECTLY and I'm extremely pleased w

This point is WIDE (Rouchly the size of a piece of common paper folded into quarters). It goes more than the top rated of two of my ram slots on an Asus Maximus III Gene. (Not a dilemma if you get low profile ram and install it prior to placing this beast on.) Worked perfectly for my build. Even if you don't need a low clearance CPU cooler, I'd reccomend it. Fantastic Product. **Note for the Manufacturer's Warranty, all you need to have is the invoice from Newegg. Item is covered for 2 years. Dropped temps virtually 8C more than the stock AMD cooler. Very first time to ever have a low-profile cooler like this and I have to say I'm impressed. The fan itself is massive, and blocks off two of 4 memory slots in my GA-MA785GM-US2H MB. But that's not a problem, because I only require 2x2GB for my Win 7 HTPC. None.

Simply replaceable fan.Well constructed.Great cooling for the size.Prime down style permits for chipset, memory and VRM cooling.Low profile (my HTPC has only 100mm of clearance). Difficult to install on socket 775 due to limited space between push pins and heatsink.Fan is quiet at low speeds, but not at full speed ྫྷV).Heat sink is very wide (presses up against my power provide in a ThermalTake Mozart HTPC situation). I didn't want to get rid of my motherboard, so I had to get rid of a stick of memory, my power supply and a situation fan in order to make sufficient space to get my hands in there.Because I had the space, I replaced the stock fan with a Scythe Slip Stream 800. At 12V the SlipStream pushes the identical quantity of air as the stock does at 12V, but is silent even though undertaking so. I loose PWM handle, but because it is silent at full speed, this is not a problem.
