Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Comment:
Quite low profile given cooling performance. Initially class look, good looking construction. Fan is super rather, particularly with a mobo that can slow it down to match the CPU load. Multi blade fan is quite impressive seeking too even though running. The base on mine was NOT FLAT AT ALL, which is the single most crucial feature on any heatsink. It must be flat on the bottom or it just plain doesn't work since it doesn't fully get in touch with the CPU surface to transfer heat. I had to hand lap the base in for literally 45+ minutes prior to I was even to an acceptable level of flatness. I'm not certain it would even work if I hadn't accomplished this. The cooler NOW works incredibly nice and keeps me at about 15 deg C over ambient at full load on my Phenom x4 chip ...good! RAM modules with heat spreaders will hit this heatsink period. It barely clears stock, and as such you cannot remove the RAM a/o 1st removing the heatsink ...this seriously sucks there. Don't get unless you can lap the bottom of the heatsink for flatness. At least strategy to check it out prior to installing on an AM3, which is a big chip to cover, so flatness is Quite important.

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Comment:
Considerably quieter than the stock CPU fan that it replaced and lower temps too. Adore it. I had to get rid of the motherboard to properly get the pins to lock into place (LGA755 CPU socket), there wasn't enough room to lock them with the motherboard already installed in the case. Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons: None if you need a low profile heatsink

Pros: Low profileCheap (PM)Quiet
Comment:
This thing is only 58mm tall and fits in very small cases, such as the In-Win BK623 that I have. It's also very quiet, and can accommodate a thicker fan later if you move to a bigger case.

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons: -Some users reported compatibility issues with RAM heatsinks

Pros: -Very low profile-Quiet/performs well-Can take an aftermarket fan-Well priced ($30 with a price match)
Comment:
All told a much quieter/better-performing option than the old Zalman cooler that it replaced. Some users reported issues with it not fitting in systems with large heatsinks on RAM modules, and covering the first RAM slot in builds without: I had none of these issues, even on a M-atx board. Installation was surprisingly easy, with the same push-pin connectors as the stock Intel fans, and a surprisingly large amount of clearance beneath the fan for fingers to work the pins.Great buy!

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons: Pricy

Pros: Great performance, slim fan
Comment:
If you have the room, the first thing I would do is replace it with a regular 25mm thickness fan. With that, its performance is quite impressive, considering the size and design.

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons: n/a

Pros: - Low profile- Great AM3 clip design- Big quiet fan
Comment:
This HSF is very low profile and uses a large quiet fan that you can easily replace with a non low profile fan if you needed a little more cooling power and it would still fit it in some pretty small spaces. Compared to some others, the AM3 clip design is very easy to use, if maybe a little hard to reach because of the sheer size of the heatsink fins. Probably easiest to install it before you install the mainboard in the case.

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons: price

Pros: easy to installquiet
Comment:
this is by far the easiest heatsink i have ever installed. the adapter clips in and then it clips onto the AM3 bracket - why can't they all be that simple? and the PWM fan is dead silent, which was exactly what i wanted.i haven't overclocked, so i can't really speak to performance but if the lazy fan speed at stock is any indication, there's plenty of room to get hotter.the only downside here is price, but you can pricematch for 30.

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons: Actually higher than stock on E6500

Pros: neat looking, big and flat
Comment:
I ordered this to go along with E6500 in a MI-800BK case and Zotac HTPC. As it turns out this is actually about 3/4" higher than the stock cooler from intel, so I could't actually use it for anything.

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons: VERY difficult to mount

Pros: Exceptionally quiet, cools well
Comment:
This cooler was purchased for my i3-530 HTPC/workstation build, and it has performed flawlessly. The original i3 heatsink sounded like a lawnmower at any speed, the Shuriken is absolutely better in every way.It was, however, exceptionally difficult to attach, especially with the RAM positioning of the Gigabyte H55m-S2H. The RAM rests under the lip of the heatsink, meaning that it is difficult to reach a finger in to twist the locking mechanism. The mounting bracket that allows you to attach the pushpins to the heatsink was slightly deformed on one side, but it still worked with some wiggling.

Scythe Big Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU Cooler
Cons:none so far

Pros:low profile, good cooling, Scythe quality
Comment:
I've got two of these now and they are great for slim home theater PCs. One is mounted in a bigger case so I replaced the thin 120mm fan with a regular one and it is a silent PC now. I've purchase quite a few Scythe heatsinks now and I've never been disappointed with the quality of their products.
