Fits my HTPC situation. Cools nicely (PhenomIIx6 2.8ghz stock clocked, 31-32 degrees at idle) with out generating noise heard more than quiet case fans. Blocks half of the ram slots on my motherboard(slots three and 4). I knew it would, so not exactly a con. A compromise, had to have low profile cooler if I wanted an optical drive in this case. Had to lose half of my ram slots to do it. my technique:SILVERSTONE GRANDIA GD04B Micro ATX situationGIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2HG.Skill Ripjaws ƒ x 4GB) F3-10666CL9D-8GBRLCORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-650HX modular PSUScythe Massive Shuriken SCBSK-1000 120mm CPU CoolerAMD Phenom II X6 1055T Thuban 2.8GHzSAMSUNG F3 HD103SJ 1TBXFX HD-585X-ZAFC Radeon HD 5850LG WH10LS30K 10X Blu-ray BurnerLogitech MX 5500 Revolution bluetooth keyboard/mouseWindows 7 ultimate

The Scythe Major Shuriken has a low profile and fit in my Dell situation. It was simple to install. It has a 120mm x 120mm x 12mm fan with four pin connector. It runs seriously slow (about 800rpm) at this speed it has about 16cfm airflow. This is not enough airflow to cool the cpu. Most 120mm fans are 25mm thick. The only way you are going to get good airflow is to buy a good CoolMaster 120mm fan. I would not advocate acquiring this Scythe Large Shuriken

Does a great job keeping the CPU cool in a HTPC case stuffed in a furnishings console. Very Quiet. WIDE - BE Sure to look at your memory card slot location ahead of putting in.The plastic clips are a discomfort to get at and squeeze, unless you are the Bionic Lady. Installed on a Core i5 2500k, not overclocked, on a ASUS P8H67-M EVO in a Lian-Li Pc-C50 situation. Idles at 39C and after performing some batch file video encoding more than night was at 49C in the morning, and the room temp was about 68F. The CPU has a leg up on encoding, so maybe the test didn't strain it a lot, but for the purpose I'm using it for, it did effectively.

Fairly, low profile, cools elements about the CPU and Ram. Keeps my Intel Q9450 incredibly cool while trans-codeing multiple streams. Huge, might not fit all power mother board, and my hit the power provide if to close. Make confident to get a typical height ram. Some of the high overall performance cools remedy on the ram may not fit. Not a large fan the the push pins.

If you will need an upgraded sink with a really major fan you identified it.It's QUIET and pushed a lot of air - so long as the height of your RAM (no tall sinks will operate) doesn't get in the way you are golden - and this fan will cool your ram also - it covers the complete middle of the board - it's got a 120mm fan on there and you can put a 140 on there as a different egger stated. It is seriously WIDE and the bottom edge of the sink is a little as well low. They barely clear the sinks on my motherboard but it was the 'teeth' on the heatsinks of the G Skill RIpjaws memory that ended up killing the deal. I wasn't about to hack a tooth off as other egger here did. I ended up sending it back but I'm still giving it 5 eggs based on my inspection.

Low profileExcellent top qualityPretty quiet None I changed out the stock OEM fan for a higher cfm and quieter PWM fan. Dropped the load temps an extra 5c more than the stock setup. Overall this is a great cooler for a HTPC, it is not as close to as fantastic as my Cooler Master Hyoper 212+ which is really cheaper, but my HTPC only provided 88mm of clearance, so this cooler fit the bill and dropped OCCT load temps by more than 20c over the stock cooler for my Athlon II X3.Mounting for AMD is super easy and takes only a couple moments to get a nice secure mount. Cooler is also properly made with a great lightly polished base. If you have limited clearance, the Scythe Large Shuriken should be on your brief list of CPU coolers to look at.

Quite Low Profile 56mm Tall! if I am not mistaken. Fits In Apevia X-Qpack2 (not a incredibly very good case) quite nicely. Mobo Tray Slides Appropriate In And Tends to make Assembly Super Easy. Took me a bit of finessing to get the Heatsink on. there are two tabs on opposite sides that act like locks. I had to use needle nose pliars and eliminate my Video card to install it. (msi 890gxm-65 [nice mobo I have rated it as nicely])As mentioned just before: Be certain to install your ram first! and Ram with enormous heatsinks on them will not fit. Way bigger than you would think in true life. at least double the size as the included heatsink with a 955 phenom II

Fantastic cooling performance for the size. Good socket compatibility (even fits the antiquated Socket 478). Excellent mounting system, mounts quite securely on socket AM2 and wasn't too tough to install. PWM fan. None. Honestly, I don't think you can do greater than this for a low profile heatsink. Just make positive it will fit in your case and won't interfere with RAM or something like that. Based on the board, it will possibly overlap some or all of the RAM slots, which will result in issues if you're making use of sticks with tall heatsinks. It's tall enough to clear typical height memory, though.

Incredibly quietCools efficientlyUncomplicated installation (AMD) Levers to tighten heatsink down had been just a tad challenging due to their proximity to the upper heatsink fins. This is a excellent heatsink for a powerhouse HTPC exactly where the noise of the heatsink is crucial but so it the cooling potential. I have this in a Lanbox Lite case on a Phenom II 560 BE presently overclocked to three.6. The heatsink is somewhat a lot more productive than the stock heatsink when it comes to cooling, but the very best issue is that it is quieter though operating prime95 complete strain than the stock AMD heatsink at idle. Never ever saw the temp go more than 48C and saw it as low as 25C (used AS five instead of provided thermal paste.) Overall an exceptional heatsink.

This factor has performed a good job in my low air-flow HTPC case. -Good construct quality, super smooth mounting finish- includes heatsink thermal good if you don't already have your own- Fan is SUPER quiet at mid-low speeds. - heatsink fins are really sharp. There's a warning in the box to put on gloves so you don't cut your hands up, haha! - Would like to have a mounting answer that screws down from the bottom of the motherboard. This would give it five stars hands down. - Directions to assure mounting points are secured is not extremely intuitive Get your self a lengthy flathead screwdriver with a narrow shaft. Do not try to use a single of those all in a single screwdrivers, it will not fit in the clearance you have offered to press the mounting screws in. The screws came prepared to be pressed in place, but you do need to have to make certain that none of them rotated throughout shipment. Then just cautiously apply downward force until they snap in location. I recommend installing your memory just before this heatsink - you might locate you can't access the initial stick to eliminate/insert right after this is in.

Massive heatsink covers most of the mini-ITX board (which looks cool). Keeps my AMD Phenom II 740 X3 cool at 36°C Idle and 48°C Load sitting in a passively cooled Lian Li Pc-Q07 case. Fan runs between 1600-1800rpm within this setup. This heatsink fits perfectly on a Asus M4A88T-I motherboard without covering the PCI expansion slot. Not really a huge deal but you'll need to have to eliminate the heatsink to access your memory sticks. This fan is developed to blow by means of the heatsink and down onto the motherboard. The included fan can not be reversed to pull air up via the heatsink with out grinding the blades against the heatsink. Even so, the fan is attached with two clips and appears that it could quickly be replaced with a normal case fan must you want to try this.

Temps are incredibly cool even though the method is at load. ྯc)Looks great in my case.Incredibly light weight, doesn't bother my motherboard. The heatsink is extremely sharp. (I bleed by means of bandaids for 20 minutes. =P)Unless you're working with a Micro-ATX board in a complete-tower case, you'll have to take out the motherboard in order to clamp this into an AMD program.Temps are higher at idle by about 8c.Almost cuts off two of my ram slots. It's pretty a lot impossible to put any ram with heatsinks in next to this cooler. It's a excellent cooler and looks remarkable. I utilized Arctic Silver 5 and was in a position to get my Athlon II x4 630 up to three.6ghz without any challenge, didn't even have to transform the voltages significantly. I would have gone higher but I have low air-flow in my case. This would be a great get even if you're using a case that can fit a bigger cpu cooler mainly because of the 120mm fan, copper heatspread, and the size of the heatsink itself. The fan can also be switched out with a Scyth 140mm low-profile fan if you want even additional cooling.Just be warned that the heatsink is Very sharp, this is specially true for under the fan; that's exactly where I cut myself.I had no expertise with using it for an Intel method so I can't vouch for that, but I can say that I would extremely recommend this for any AMD technique 125 watt TDP or less.

I built a HTPC but was acquiring awful temps with the intel stock cooler. The worst portion was the loud fan noise. This cooler fixed all my issues. The best portion is the Scythe fan is considerably a lot more quiet vs. stock. I do have vent problems in my case but Load temps went from 75-80 to 60. Idle temps are in the lhigh 20s to low 30s vs. high 30s with stock. The intel push pin system functions if you have access to the push pins with a normal fan. The larger 12 cm fan overlies the pushpins making installation frustratingly difficult. I even took the MB off the panel to help. Two of the pins never ever seriously could twist properly. The installation looked solid but it does not inspire confidence. The pushpin technique functions just ok for the stock cooler but is no engineering marvel. The stock pushpin answer is not proper with this size cooler/fan. One egg off for this. core i3-550Lian LI Pc-Q07Scythe Big Shuriken4GB G Abilities Ripjaws 1600 DDR3This will fit with the above program and ram, but it will block your PCIE slot. I don't care as I am happy with onboard graphics. Ripjaws does demand dental work on the heatsink for correct fitting although.

Good cooler for low clearance cases that keeps my Core i3-530 good and cool in the Silverstone GD-05B case. Annoying Intel push-pins for mounting. I got two of them down properly (until they click), but the other two in no way very clicked like the other people. I'm keeping an eye on the method temps, but it seems to be on at least properly enough. There are considerably much better coolers out there if space is not a problem, but for the low-clearance scenarios this was built for, it does an outstanding job overall.

Extremely low profile but high enough that it fit more than the motherboard components. Dead silent. A key discomfort to install! The push pins are flimsy and felt like they would break if I pushed too difficult but it didn't feel secure if I didn't. It essentially popped off 1 side about mid install right after I had the motherboard in the case which created it even a lot more hard to install. I ended up receiving a thin screwdriver and pushing it by means of the heatsink fins to get the pushpins secure. I have a couple Scythe heatsinks and the brackets are the worst component, this one is no exception. If you like pain and suffering you will really like the install.

Nicely created, Very quiet, affordable Basically won't cool my 130W TDP Core i7 980x - even with no overclocking. Idles at 50c - rings the bell inside five seconds of running Cinebench. I've got a low-profile case and the cooler specs did say it could deal with the 980X. Even with the side panel removed this cooler just can't keep up. Oh well, if something sounds too great to be correct...Most likely a amazing cooler for most other CPU's, nevertheless.

Almost silent, cools properly. PIA to install - it gets in its own way & there's no room to get the hidden clips latched. Just takes some patience & in my case needle nose pliers. Properly worth the hassle, but make positive you have the actual estate around your CPU socket for this factor. If you have capacitors or NB fan/HS or DIMMs in the way this huge thing won't fit or else will give you h3ll trying to install. I have it on an E6700 C2D. In a 70° F room it idles at 110°. That sounds high (esp compared to all the B-S "my CPU idles below ambient with my fancy fan & AS-5 that the kiddies like to post here). But it only goes up to 129° below full load in benchmarks. So from idle to full load there is only a 20° (F) temp rise.

The cooler looks excellent, although large for getting so compact. Supplied the MB has clearance, it need to function in just about any case. If you are employing a low profile case, this is a excellent choice. My HTPC box has a lot of clearance, even immediately after replacing the low profile fan with a Nexus getting practically twice the airflow (more on that below). People today have reported troubles with memory clearance. Mine is close, but I am pleased to report that the sticks are covered, but still accessible. No tools are required to mount for AM3 and I had just enough room to get my finger on the latch. Though it was not uncomplicated, it was not all that tough either. An individual with weak fingers may possibly struggle a bit with this.Cooling is adequate for my quad core Athlon II 640, which is not overclocked. At idle I'm receiving 38C and at full load right after a time it gets up to 58C with stock fan. The high temp is possibly in part due to cramming every little thing into such a modest box with no enough additional ventilation. This is most likely the wrong cooler for overclocking. It is best for HTPC setups, but I wouldn't trust it for overclocking. I also question if it could keep up with a 125W core, at least not without a excellent supply of fresh air.The cooler comes with thermal compound, but I recommend you scrap that and get something far better. I got an 8C temp reduction by remounting with Rosewill RCX-TC060PRO Thermal Compound. Great stuff for subsequent to nothing and a good match for this cooler. Use a excellent thermal compound. I'm not positive if the supplied fan is greater than rated, if the Nexus is not as great as rated, or if the genuine problem with heat is the lack of case airflow. Nonetheless, swapping the fan with practically double the output rated fan only gave only 2C temp drop, whereas altering thermal compound gave me 8C difference. My hardware setup is:BIOSTAR TA785G3HD AM3 AMD 785G Micro ATX MotherboardAMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus three.0GHz AM3 95W Quad-CoreG.SKILL 4GB ƒ x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel KitSamsung 1 TB Spinpoint 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA HDPixxo (CI-8102), Slim Micro ATX / Mini ITX Desktop CaseWindows7 64-bit Residence Premium

Quite low profile and great style. About 4 millimeters was all it took to not fit in the build I'm currently working on. That's on me although I got greedy and wanted to attempt it out due to the fact no one has but to confirm the fit. Would had been wonderful if it did on more than clocking. For those developing an mini itx systems, this review is just to clarify that it will fit on to the GA H55N USB3 itx board by Gigabyte but will cover the PCI slot by a number of millimeters. Unless you plan on utilizing the on board video with a core i3 or i5, the smaller 100mm is a far better match which has been confirmed to fit with a full size GPU. I had a tough time acquiring reviews to clarify the fit so I wanted to try out the 120mm to confirm it. Going to switch to the smaller to open up the PCI slot. The Set Up:Case: Silverstone: SG07Mobo: Gigabyte H55N-USB3 itxProcessor: Core i7 870 Quad 2.93ghzMemory: 4 GB G.Skill Eco DDR3 -1333 Cas: 7-7-7-21GPU: GTX 470Hardrive: G.Skill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSDJust default settings right now every thing is created to be low temperature output, on the other hand will be testing OC specs as soon as the cooler comes in.

Used with i5-2500 on Gigabyte H76A-UD3H-B3 motherboard. Cools somewhat much better than stock Intel cooler but is significantly quieter--just what I wanted. Temps on Prime 95 peak at 7 degrees cooler than stock cooler. Inaudible in my case from three feet away. Core idle temps mid 30s C in 75 F room. Fan speed varies from 900 to 1550 depending on load. Fan noise at really close range is a neutral mild "whooshing", not annoying in nature. Took a half hour to mount. Very hard applying pressure to push pins due to heatsink overhang. Moved RAM to outer two slots to stay away from overhang. Fan is exposed in bottom of case with no guard, so be sure to tie cables and wires away exactly where they cannot fall into fan. Not for high overclockers with the included fan, but highly suitable for stock clock speed or moderate overclocks while remaining really quiet. No "buzzing" sound from fan due to its low RPM. Included fan can be very easily replaced with any full width ྐྵmm) 120mm fan for much far better air flow that would strengthen efficiency for high overclockers.

-Extremely quiet, nearly entirely silent at low speeds even with my sensitive ears much less than a foot away.-Low height, it fits in my much less than 4" tall Antec MicroFusion Remote 350 case.-Massive 120mm fan also helps cool surrounding components like northbridge and memory a small as well.-Gives very good cooling. -Could get in the way of memory if it is too tall or has heat spreaders. I bought this to replace a Zalman CNPS7000C-AlCu that was louder than I liked. This Massive Shuriken is about the similar height and only a small wider but it is considerably quieter though nonetheless providing comparable cooling.
