Comment:
Changed the stock 100mm X 12mm fan (PWM) for Scythe low speed 1200 rpm 100mm X 25mm fan (three PIN). The ingenous clips makes this an uncomplicated alter. Practically doubles the CFM and nonetheless really quiet. Wish Scythe created 100mm X 25mm PWM fan for this heatsink. The older three pin works but, yeah . . . if your going to wish. Scythe sells slow speed, medium speed and high speed 100mm X 25mm fans (only 3 pin).

Well built. Contrary to other comments, I discovered it straightforward to install - if you are careful! I would have given five eggs, but I could not use this cooler! Best cooling fins extend far over the CPU on all sides. On my motherboard [DFI LanParty MI P55-T36], they blocked 1 slot of RAM and I could not use this cooler. Bummer - I need to have to locate another one. If the cooling fins had been offset on one side, it would clear the RAM and I would have been able to use it. Be cautious of side clearance if ordering this component.

Quiet and keeps the processor cooler. The stocker was not performing it at all considering that overclocking the I3-540 to 3.6GHZWould obtain again Can be a bit tricky to secure into your motherboard. Take your time and hand trim the tabs to get clearance on your motherboard. May possibly not be correct out of the box, but this cooler is large and does the job. Comment:
- Rather on the brief side for a heatsink - makes it fantastic for an HTPC build or anywhere space is at a premium. - Has a PWM fan Ɣ-pin connector).- Extremely quiet - again, wonderful for an HTPC construct.- Even although it's not listed, and I haven't tested this theory, it shoud be compatible with LGA1156 (the mounting pins slide among LGA775 and LGA1366 positions, and need to theoretically work with LGA1156). Mounting, at least with Intel processors, can be a genuine pain with this heatsink. It makes use of pushpins (like Intel's stock heatsinks), instead of a backplate and screws like most other aftermarket heat sinks. Though this implies you can mount it immediately after the motherboard is installed in the case, that can be incredibly complicated as nicely due to the low profile of the heat sink (makes it very hard to get your fingers into a position to apply pressure to the pins). The lack of a decent Intel mounting answer forces me to knock off an egg. I used this, along with an Antec NSK2480 case and some Scythe SFF12E case fans, to do up a Core i7 HTPC construct (capable of blazing through transcoding videos) that's nearly silent at idle, and not much louder below full load. Under full load in my existing configuration, the loudest component is really the fan in the power supply. If you're seeking to build yourself an HTPC rig, get this, or its bigger brother, the SCBSK-1000 Big Shuriken (which gets you 120mm, as opposed to 100).

Confirming that this does in truth fit in the sug05 with the GA-H55N-USB3 and a full size vid card (its within millimeters though). The ends of the copper pipes hang more than the initially dim slot of my ripjaw ram module (it actually type of sits in in between the notches).Comes with thermal grease This may possibly not fit in an ITX with ram that has big heatsinks.

1. The noise is completely inaudible2. Incredibly coolthree. Straightforward to install on my new AM3 socket I used to have an Intel 1366 socket mobo. The pushpins are very hard to use. Immediately after considerably frustration, I burned the pushpins, took them out with a forcep, and installed the cooler with some screws. It didn't fit 100% appropriate with the screws, but it worked.Due to the fact this is Intel's difficulty, I will not take off any egg.I strongly do not recommend this cooler if you have a 1366 socket.

Slim. Really slim. Effective. Moves a lot of air. Super uncomplicated to install on AM3. Did I mention it's slim? The fan is quiet, but not silent. Require to slow it down some. Really should be listed under AM3.

Very powerful in mid-tower mATX case. Low-profile. Quiet. Keeps my E8400 cool. At 25C ambient temp: 36C at idle and 43C at 100% load on Prime95 for five hours. A little warmer at idle than I would ideally like ࿄CᤙC ambient) , but not sufficient to shed an egg. Wonderful cooler! As soon as it arrives, I will be putting one of these in my HTPC, a Dell Studio Slim 540s, to replace the stock cooler. Excited to see the outcomes.

Cons:Could not use high height DDR modules with my mobo

Pros:Pretty quiet Lots of mounting options
Comment:
This is a pretty good CPU cooler. It installed quite easily but I could not use it with tall DDR modules on my MSI 870-G45. The "nibs" on the ends of the heatpipes interfered with that. So I had to use some regular height DDR RAM. The fan is quiet when installed on the low setting which is not a problem for me because I am using it for a WHS box.

Cons:+ push pins feel cheap

Pros:+ form factor (low profile)+ quiet
Comment:
I purchased this heatsink for an HTPC build, as I needed something that was low profile.During installation, I noted that the push-pins seemed pretty cheap and loose (wobbly almost). Once secured down, everything seemed fine though. The unit came complete with a low profile fan, as well as heatsink paste, although I used Arctic Silver instead. So far everything seems to be working fine. In the end, I would purchase this option again - though it would be nice if there were more options for low-profile heatsinks.

Cool and quiet. My 95W Athlon x4 idles as low as 15 deg C, and as high as 40 deg C when running a torture test with prime95. In typical operation this cooler is virtually silent. It doesn't obstruct the memory slots on my mATX mobo, and its low profile fits comfortably in my mATX mini tower case. None

Pros:Compatible with many CPUReally quiet
Comment:
I got this heatsink for cheap (10$) a couple months ago and decided to install it to replace my stock intel heatsink/fan.Installation was harder than i expected because I had trouble reaching one pushdown pin. On a new build it would have been easier since the board would have been out of the case. While I didn't compare the temp before and after, I can say it is much quieter now. The only thing I hear now are the acse fan, which I want to replace next.

Comment:
I purchased this cooler for a Core2 Quad HTPC system a month ago and it is practically silent (I hear the challenging drive but never the fans) keeping the CPU cool all of the time. I have just finished installing this on a Socket 1156 ASUS Maximus III GENE LGA 1156 Intel P55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard and it fit fine even although neither Newegg nor Scythe list this cooler for 1156. Suggest installing the Cooler before installing the MB in the case, and after the Memory. Newegg ought to list this under Socket 1156 coolers.

Cons: Push pins for socket 775 are a challage to use

Pros: Very nice design for a low profile cooler, good quality materials, comes with all necessary accessories including thermal compound, quiet, does not interfere with other surrounding components
Comment:
I like this heatsink, reasonable value, well build, quiet operation (comes with 100 mm fan). If it was not for the cumbersome push pins I would have given it a perfect score.

I bought it to replace a Thermaltake TR2-R1 Heatsink. The Thermaltake was a very quiet heatsink that functioned well for a number of years. I used this on my Phenom XII Callisto with the purpose of unlocking the 2 extra cores.I have only been able to unlock it to 3 cores so far, but that hasn't been from cooling problems. The heatsink works well. Clip is annoying though.

Cons: Not a great overclocker, thermal paste is not included.

Pros: Good cooling at stock speeds, will fit a lot of cpus, easy installation. Great quality overall.
Comment:
I purchased this one in order to get better cooling on a Quad Core on an AM2+ chipset. It did its job, was very easy to install. I have no complaints on the installation as the instructions were very straight forward.I wouldn't recommend to overclock on this one as it only brought down the temps by 8c or so. Since I wanted to bring down the temps with a less noisy heat-sink on the computer it was worth it. This was my first Scythe product and would look into their products as well from now on, it's great quality.

Scythe SCSK-1100 100mm Shuriken Rev. B 3 Heat Pipes CPU Cooler
Cons:Not nearly enough cooling power for my Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition under high load. So slimline that the 2 DIMM slots that it is over are unusable because the RAM is just a little too high, and it's normal RAM - nothing special (OCZ Platinum 1600 something.)I played Crysis Warhead with enthusiast settings with a 5770 video card for 3 minutes and checked the temp, and it was at 75 degrees!!! I stopped right away and am going to use my stock cooler until I can find something more appropriate. It does keep the CPU at 33 degrees while idle though.

Pros:Quiet, easy to install, low profile. Would buy for a word processor / internet machine.
Comment:
Won't work for me, but maybe for a very low performance CPU. States it's good for All speed's of AM3 CPU's on box but that is not realistic.

Cons:Push pins can be a little hard to deal with, but they just suck in general, so not really a fault.

Pros:Low profile, and silent. Easy to install.
Comment:
As mentioned, this is a great cooler. I'm currently using it to cool an E7400 in my HTPC. It is silent, and does it's job perfectly. As mentioned above, the only issue I had with it is the push pins, but they have always sucked, so I wouldn't really knock the cooler for it, especially considering its low price.

Comment:
Installing this in 2 minutes on my AM2 motherboard, the fan was already cliped on the heatsink, installing the fan on these scythese can be a pain sometimes, but not in this case. I didn't run any major testing, but it keeps my 95 Watt processor nice and cool at 35 C. Perfect for a HTPC very silent, not sure about overclocking potential.

Comment:
As one review once said, the Shuriken is one of the coolers that includes many of Scythe's successful designs, all stuffed into a very small and powerful package.First things first, it is very easy to install, the most tricky part was actually mounting the fan onto the fins. If you could get past that, mounting the Shuriken onto a board is as easy as snapping two clips onto the side and clipping them onto the retentioning brackets. The heatpaste is provided in a small packet, and is relatively easy to apply. One thing to note is that the bottom of the heatsink is very very shiny. I'm sure some more lapping can still improve the flatness of the surface but it should surpass most user's expectations.Having owned 3 of these coolers, I have mounted them on anywhere from Prescotts to Core2Duo's. The Shuriken has proven to work relatively well for most of my uses so far, and can hold my Core2 E7400 up to about 30% oc without heating up past 50CCooling performance may vary from user to user, however, the results I've seen so far is that as long as you're not on quad core, the Shuriken should be able to keep your CPU from overheating in the summer. All while being very quiet. One thing that went wrong with two of my shurikens is that the fans developed a very severe vibration during its first two months. The fan on my 3rd unit is still good till now, so I'll just say I was unlucky for the first two.So far, my replacement fan of choice has been the Nexus Real-Silent Fan, 92mm 1200rpm version. This has proven to be yes, as expected, extremely quiet. I have set the motherboard to automatically change the fan speed according to temperature, and so far I have not seen the temperature spike above 52C and the fan speed has never exceeded beyond 1000rpm.

Pros:None, It doesn't work. CPU temp kept climbing over 70C at idle.
Comment:
I purchased this to replace the stock heatsink for an AMD Phenom II X3. It is an HTPC so I'm trying to keep the noise down and as it is a low case I need a low profile cooler. I tried re-seating the heatsink three times as my CPU temp kept climbing over 70C at idle. (cleaning off the thermal paste and reapplying it each time) No luck. I put the stock one back in and CPU temp was back down to 50C.Do not buy!
