Got this at 20% off so the price per gig was too good to pass up. For once, I didn't do any research before pulling the trigger on this one, it was the best deal at the time. There is no clear winner when it comes to manufacturers of hdd's, they all have had their bad days it seems. Nothing else to it really. Buy it. |

Drives work good for back up storage or main drive. I have used Seagate drives for the last 12 years, never had a failure or problem. I guess a bad drive can happen. RMA process was easy and quick. Would buy again! |

You could spend a lot of money of a simple hard drive, but that the end of the day a hard drive is a hard drive, and Seagate is as good as anyone. It is a OEM (original electronic manufacturer) so there will be no cables included along with this, but SATA cables are dirt cheap.If you need a HDD, this one works just fine! |

This is an excellent, reliable platter based HDD. The 1TB version is a single-platter model, and 1 platter models are traditionally the most reliable platter-based HDD's you can buy. Seagate's 1-platter models (500GB 7200.12, 160GB 7200.10) are some of the most reliable hard drives out there.The boot time and response speed doesn't compare with SSD's, but it's very fast at sequential reading and writing (150-180MB's).
