Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:.... ?
Pros:Does exactly what it is supposed to do.Quieter than my older driveLoads MUCH faster than my older western digital drive Comment:
Sure, it's not as fast as an SSD, but it's not meant to be. All things considered, it loads more than fast enough for me. New computer, not much installed yet (just a few games & monitoring programs) and I'm booting to the windows loading screen in just under 1 min. If that's not fast enough for you - you're a crazy person. |

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:one died...
Pros:One out of two in the mirror array survived... Comment:
Bought two Seagate 1 TB drives for a new build with an Intel board and I-5 Processor, along with a Crucial M4 ssd for the OS. Mounted and configured the Seagates using Win 7 software RAID as mirrors. Saved an image of the OS to a partition on the Data drive(s). One drive kept dropping off-line or disappearing entirely from the BIOS. Swapped data and power cables and each time it was reconnected to power, it would come back online again. Finally ran for 24 hours straight and I thought we would be good to go, but it failed again, so I've RMA'd it. The good news is that the Mirror worked great and I actually re-imaged the OS drive from the remaining Data drive to ensure it could be done. Worked perfectly. As luck and NCIX sales would have it, I noticed the 2 TB drives were on sale for the same price as I paid for the 1TB, so I ordered a pair to install in this machine. I'll keep the good 1TB drive as a spare for three other machines that I have running with 1TB mirror arrays. I could send back but there is the 15% restocking fee on the good drive.I'm not sure what to think of the failure. I guess best it happened while building and not once its filled with data. NCIX were great on the RMA. I had a Hitachi fail on a new build a few months ago, so its only the WD drives I haven't had go down on a new build, but the sample is too small to draw conclusions from. |

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:Bought two, got a flaky one
Pros:Quiet and fast. Comment:
Not much to say, as it does what it is supposed to, when it works. Unfortunately, one of the two I bought had problems being detected when the system had been off for 8 hours or more. This would cause very slow boots, as the BIOS and Windows seemed to search endlessly for the disk. Because of that I have to take down the rating a couple of notches. |

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:On rare occasions the drive will not be detected on boot up.
Pros:1 TBHuge 64MB CachePriceSpeedQuiet Comment:
I got this drive on sale and it was quite reasonable price for a 1TB drive. This drive is incredibly fast. The Crystal Disk Mark benchmark tests on it were impressive. 64 MB cache is excellent. It is also a very quiet drive. As mentioned in the CONS, on rare occasions the drive will not be detected on boot up. When you google this issue, it seems to be a common complaint. It usually only happens on a cold boot. Mine has not done it for quite some time now so hopefully it worked itself out. I am impressed in general with this drive, especially for the price. |

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:Not that reliable, can make chirping noises sometimes
Pros:Fast, Cheap, Quiet Comment:
Bought 2 on Boxing Day, 1 was DOA. After RMA they are now in RAID 0 connected to my Intel SATA2 ports (my SSD is on the SATA3 slots). HD TACH results 340mb/s burst, 190mb/s avg read.Performance is great and blows my 7200.11 RAID 0 setup away, they are quiet and fast enough that I sometimes forget it's not a 1TB SSD. This is my Programs/Games/Files drive so I can't comment on Windows boot times but I'm sure they're good as file copy speeds have been very high. My only concern is reliability but only time will tell whether these are built to last. |

Pros:Good solid HHD Comment:
I bought this HHD when it was on sell and for me as a gamer, 1 TB could last for a long time, and I don't see a reason why to buy 2 or 3 TB its too much |

Cons:Dead after 3 hours of useMade in China
Pros:It's a hard drive Comment:
This was my first experience with a Chinese Seagate, drive ran for 3 hours before the on-drive controller failed. Drive still spun up but did not detect. Replaced with identical drive, working so far. Hope it holds up. |

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:-considering the flood and the increases in price for hard drive there's nothing bad about this hard drive and for the price i got it at
Pros:-got on sale on boxing day sales-with the price increase because of the flood i was surprised to see this in the 100 dollar range Comment:
Works great, and was cheap in comparison to the other options. I recommended getting a ssd instead but my friend needed the storage, this was the cheapest hard drive at 1tb i could find on boxing week. |

Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 6Gbps 3.5IN Internal Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:None so far
Pros:Very Fast - physically small and quiet. Comment:
Have only had these for a couple of weeks so it is early and these are my first of this model so it is a small sample size. What I do like about them is that they are quite thing (just the 1 platter) and also very quiet. I've had extremely good luck with the 7200.12 family and have found them to be very reliable in large numbers so I hope that trend continues with this family of drives. |
This has been a nice unit and I have no complaints about its speed to date. Data transfer has been very good, but I am still waiting a bit longer to fully trust it will not fail (my data is on 3 other drives right now). This price should be falling as the makers get back on line.
