Size.... Failure rate. Not if it fails, its when. Windows 7 indexing appears to assist it along to its death rather rapidly. If Seagate would stand behind their product they would recover your lost data. I trusted this drive with my music collection and lost it all... confident drive is warranted for five years but what about my data!Guess I will study about trusting hardware vendors. |

I bought three of these for backup duty back when the price was in the ~$60 range. Thank goodness. One drive in the pool had some issues but not severe enough to RMA. Actually, it's possibly a conflict with the external dock it sits in however the others don't have the same symptoms. |

Seagate is a champion of fast HDD's, and this 1 is no exception. It is a "Green" drive, however it quicker than my WD Black 1TB SATAǙG "performance" drive, yet quieter, cooler, and a great deal much more spacious of course. In a USB three. external enclosure, it maintains 75 - 85 MB/sec. write speeds! Burst write speed is about 150 MB/sec., much thanks to USB three. getting significantly quicker than USB 2.. Read speeds are comparable.A friend has my old Seagate 7200.9 drive that is nevertheless running, and I have a Seagate 7200.11 500GB drive that has never ever given me a issue. Positive, Seagate had a poor spell with firmware on particular 7200.11 drives, but don't assume that Seagate's are "cheap", "unreliable", or something along those lines. Seagate 7200.12 drives are FREAKY Quickly. It was a bit heavier than I expected, but truly that is a great thing. It is solid! Some men and women saying that Seagate is the greatest, other saying that Seagate is dreadful.I ended up obtaining this drive mainly because it was listed as completely supported with out any notations for my QNAP NAS. I popped it in, and away I went. It spun up quiet and I haven't heard anything from it since. |

Price, cache size, interface speed, low power draw poor reputation? I believe this new seagate gren drive may be obtaining the bad rap from its other LP cousins. The ST2000DL003 is reputed to fail to boot, early in its life. No difficulty with mine so far, and very quick for a low rpm drive. Reads and writes faster than the sata drives I'm I use at work. At 5 watts of energy each, a raid with these would be sweet. |

I have had some issues with Seagate drives in the past, but those were a specific line that had issues. Willing to give them another try considering the customer reviews are comparable to other Green hard drives. So far so good.The drive does run cool and quiet and obviously uses a little less power being a Green drive. Speeds are pretty typical considering.Will update if I run into any issues. So far, it's a good drive for the price.
