THERMALTAKE SILENT 1156 CPU
Comment:
Incredibly quiet. Holds an i5-650 at around 40C while running Prime95 at the stock clock speed. I thought the mounting style was a small silly at initial - I realized later that it was specifically the very same mounting technique as the stock intel cooler. The 650 is a 73W chip - up to about 106W if you are at four.0GHz. I may possibly go with one thing a small bigger if you are planning on going the OC route - if not, this need to function fantastic.

THERMALTAKE SILENT 1156 CPU
Comment:
Effortless to install, looks great. Keeps my i5-750 at 30c idling, and I haven't noticed it get above 50c but. Not what I'd call silent, although it's quiet sufficient.

Great Heatsink for the price
Comment:
Installed easily. As mentioned before make sure you install it facing the right direction for airflow. Cooled my OC'd I3 much better than stock heatsink and fan.

Fan Is Much Tall Than It Looks!
Comment:
I attempted to use this fan on a small htpc case and to my horror, it stuck out about 1 to 2 inches above the case cover. This is one awesome heatsink fan but I had to send it back because it would not fit in my case without installing a custom hood scoop. Be sure to check your measurements before buying!

Cooler Too Heavy For Push Pins
Comment:
I bought this beautiful Cooler after I had gotten some assembly experience with other Processors and Coolers. I initially thought the Push pins were a good idea since you hear the Snap and you think your Cooler is securely attached to your MotherBoard. I had carefully packed away the Desktop the night before I unpacked and started it up. It kept shutting off. I looked inside and to my horror, I saw the Cooler was hanging on to the MB by two Push Pins. I resnapped it down and called Tech Support at the Manufacturer to obtain an Alternate Retention Kit like other larger CPU Cooler manufacturers offer. I was told several times in two phone calls and one Email that the manufacturere has no Alternate Retention Brackets and has no plans to have them. I then proceeded to try to juryrig from other Manufacturers, Retention Brackets for my remaining stock of Silent 1156s and SpinQs. Please be aware that it is nervewracking not knowing if your Cooler is loose.

Great cooler!
Comment:
Good quality and quiet. Used it even though my new i5-750 CPU came with it's own cooler. Installing is easy, the package even includes a small tube of thermal gel, so you don't have to buy it separate.

works well
Comment:
I put it on my i3 530, it runs very quiet at about 880 to 900 rpm and keeps the processor temperature between 22 to 38C. The temperature drops from 38 to 22 in a few seconds after the load is removed. I recommend it.

3s because I haven't used it!
Comment:
The new i5 processors come with a heatsink-fan! If you are buying a new 1156 mobo and a i5 750, the i5 comes with a heatsink-fan that works great! no need to purchase this unless you are doing upgrades and whatnot.

i love it
Comment:
this is a great cooler for the price, install was so simple i was dreading the intel push pins but these were a peace of cake, and it works great idle at 23C max peek at 40C no OC on a I5 using a evga p55 FTW all that in a midtower with only 2 case fans, i know i can get them temps down if i get better airflow. if your in the market for a cpu cooler. get this one!!!!!

Very nice
Comment:
Using this on my new i5-750, no OC, straight defaults and TurboBoost. Ran the system up to max. on some benchmarks and: peak core temp was 57C (152F), idles at 27C (80F). The system board is warmer because of the voltage reg. Nice and cool and quiet.

Good cooler, good price
Comment:
I have 2 of these. Bought the first, liked the performance, ordered another. Both are on X2-550 Blacks. Both are OC to 3.5ghz, and run agout 44 at full load. You have to kind of figure out how to install them on your own, as the directions stink. You get more information on the net.

fantastic!
Comment:
This cooler is currently installed on my core i5 With the stock cooler, I was running 45 to 85 degrees celcius, but now that I've installed this cooler, I'm down to an astounding 2 to 5 degrees idle, and 40 degrees under full load, at factory clocks and voltage You can't possibly find a better bang for so few bucks. I'd absolutely recommend this to a friend.

Silent 1156 Cooler
Comment:
I've installed a couple of CPU coolers, but never a directional one before. I think they should more clearly suggest which way to orient the airflow, because I couldn't tell from the rudimentary instructions. The snap-clips were better than what I've seen on socket 775 installs, but still a little touchy. It's a smart design, making good use of the space above the CPU to fit a lot of cooling capacity, sorry I can not supply any benchmark comparisons. Very sturdy once installed, and a good value.

very cool
Comment:
Needed more cooling. Pay attention to the diagram so you don't install facing the wrong way like I did. Cooled the CPU buy 16 degrees! Came with tube of paste. Noise is OK.

Comment:
This heatsink has outperformed any I've ever used I have my Core i5 at 4GHZ and I havent seen her go above 40 degrees Celsius. If you want a quiet inexpensive CPU Cooler this is it for the 1156 socket it isn't too Bulky and installation is easy as pie -- pushpins!! This is an awesome buy for Gamers, overclocker like me or regular Joe's

Got an i5 on an Asus board, stable at 32c and never goes above 40c. Im not a heavy gamer or anything. Hard core techies might find something to complain about.

You won't regret it
Comment:
Dropped my i7 860 temperature about 8C both at idle and load. What I really like is that this cooler is quieter than the stock fan, can't really say by how much since I don't have the proper equipments to measure. I've seen people complaint about the mounting push-pins on different forums. But let's be real, this is not the manufacturer's problem. It is the same exact push-pins found on Retail Box coolers. So I am guessing most manufacturers are just following what the CPU maker is doing.
