TRENDnet's web page(s) for setting the router configuration, encryption, etc is straightforward and well designed. I called technical support (24/7 toll free) with a question and found the ''tech's'' expertise to be above average for a typical call in support center. I give TRENDnet and this router an ''A+++''. [with respect to various complaints about routers - IMHO, they are rarely the fault of the router; it is usually improper configuration]

Had a frustrating time with a Linksys and desided to go cheap if I was going to have wireless router problems. Sometimes cheaper is better! Safe your money and get this one.

Provided extension cable comes handy when other cables get in the way. For those complaining about difficult installations: 1. Download latest drivers from TRENDnet.com. Extract and run \utility\setup.exe 2. Plug in the adapter. Windows 'Found New Hardware Wizard' will pop up. Choose 'install software automatically', click 'Continue anyway'. Wait until computer notifies you that hardware is installed and ready to use. 3. Go to your Control Panel>Network Connections. Right-click your new 'Wireless Network Connection'>Properties. 4. Click the 'Wireless Networks' tab > Advanced. Select 'Any available network (access point preferred'>Close>OK. 5. In 'Network Connections', right-click 'View available wireless networks'. Connect to your network...DONE!

I ended up returning the device to Trendnet for a new one, but had to pay the shipping. I would not buy another one from Trendnet.

I had to disable their software and tell Windows to manage that device to get it to connect automatically. I'm not more than 40 feet away from my router, and I often connect at full speed. At 20 feet, it always connects at 54mbps. I haven't tried it further away...

As far as reception I can pick up other Wi-Fi lans from as far away as 500 feet (I know the guy and the crow fly distance) BEST BANG FER BUCK W.o.W. use the windows wireless setup once you have installed it (its easier) and if you are new to Wi-Fi get somebody that knows to set your whole system up with WPA or WEP so you dont end up with an open system.

Loaded right on my 98SE computer, took a couple of minutes to connect with the router but now it comes right up every time I boot up. The software shows it running at 71-75%.

Haven't really figured out the range yet - will try it out on my laptop and report back with results. Would recommend it to others. It's VERY cheap and it works good.

I installed it and it works better than my previous Motorala Wireless USB adapter. It picks up nearly 85% signal and maintains connections flawlessly. Awesome for the price and EZ to install. Great experience.

TRENDnet TEW-424UB USB Wireless Network Adapter..superior USB wireless product! i use it in the front USB port which is half way up the case. did not need an extension cable, short one comes with and i have longer ones i am also not using. Even with low signal strength because i am between several walls and have environment with interference all around yet signal is full 54mbps most of time and only slightly lower on occasion, with no drop outs whatsoever. Simple Win XP SP2 software driver, easy as pie to install. I luv USB 2. Thank you Tiger.
