A tight match, a brand that you trust. I study these critiques and couldn't believe it. I believed it was my new pc. The SATA didn't work, except so slow I changed to USB, on both. One bay didn't work at all. Both models had a button that slid below the plastic and got stuck, it won't budge. Each had been worse than an external drive, just very slow, and frustrating to deal with. I have constantly related ThermalTake with top rated of the line. I don't see how this factor got released. The poor button design and style has been replaced, but it was just poorly developed to commence with. How could a thing with no eSATA functionality get released, and have a negative bay in both units? At least I found that my encounter wasn't simply because I was crazy. It is excellent for somebody who has a lot of data and not alot of space to use it. Even even though this version is usb two., the esata is wonderful I use it on my laptop to handle media and then can hotswap drives to my desktop as necessary. It also makes backups a breeze and alot safer than an external. NONE! I caught this on sale for 30 bucks with a ten$ mail in rebate, so it was a STEAL!. I would buy it at full cost and under no circumstances even issue twice about it. Nothing like possessing all your media on hand and safe, no matter what!

The dual drive design and style is wonderful. With e-SATA, I can copy files to two drives and have every of them finish individually. When I attempt the same with USB, the file that reaches max progress waits until the final file finishes.I'm utilizing the Blacx with two.5" drives at the moment, but it seems the design and style was built about the bigger three.five" drives. It doesn't matter what size you use, just be cautious about handling the smaller drives. Let me just say the e-SATA connection functions fantastic, but at times Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit restarts itself from a blue screen. I've had this occur four occasions soon after prolonged drive access. Most probably a driver problem, but it's still rather annoying.I would definitely choose a switch as opposed to the cheapo energy button and the eject buttons are a bit rough on the smaller sized 2.five" drives. I have a laptop with a USB/e-SATA combo port which I believe has a JMB360 chip. I'm employing the latest JMB36X drivers. The Blacx becomes stabler with each and every revision. The included e-SATA cable lacks flexibility. Not sure if it's that way with all other e-SATA cables, but it's nonetheless one thing I want to replace with a thing manageable. Not that this is a con, but hot-plug only operates when you unplug the e-SATA cable and then insert a new drive while the dock is powered. I believed it was feasible to insert an additional drive into the empty slot while the 1st 1 is attached to the computer system and nevertheless detected by the OS. It was a massive mistake I'll never make once more haha!A revision to avoid the SATA ports from flexing while employing two.five" drives and a new eject mechanism would be fantastic.Bottom line - 3 eggs tends to make this a decent purchase. I won't buy it once again, but would absolutely verify out what Thermaltake has in retailer for this series of merchandise.

Functions fantastic. I had an situation with the initial 1 I got, but Newegg exchanged it quickly. The second 1 has no problems and has been incredibly beneficial for diagnosing and fixing challenging drive difficulties. Initially 1 had a bay that didn't function. Working with on an Airport Extreme as a network backup drive for numerous computer systems. Also used on several Macs, under Linux and a single laptop operating Windows 7.

Dual port SATA II docking station that supports eSATA and USB 2. Functions on my Mac, Linux, and Windows Boxes ࿠ and 32 Windows 7). My eSATA controllers all support port multipliers so I didn't have difficulties there. Uncomplicated setup, performs just as planned. Does not show Intelligent status or drive temperature when connected by way of USB (haven't checked via eSATA). Wall wort style energy brick. I purchased this dock to be connected to a machine that holds Acronis photos for my firm. The thought was take the drive out of their Computer, pop it in right here, image it, pop it back and return to client (much more quickly then pulling over the network). For this goal it does exactly what we want it to do, and runs like a champ. My only challenge is that when we get computers that need to have a reimage the first point we do is verify the Intelligent status and the drive for bad sectors to see if we need to have a new drive as nicely as a new windows set up (we use HD Tune Pro four.five). Using USB we weren't in a position to get the Wise status of the drives which made us uncomfortable, nevertheless eSATA may possibly save the day.

Rapid and seems to be steady. Uncomplicated setup and OSs easily found the tough drive. I tested it on Solaris x86, Fedora, and Windows 7. I'm making use of this device for Solaris Containers/Zones. Material feels a small affordable. Solaris x86 can only discover one drive at a time. Solaris x86 appears to be getting issues with multi-porting. This is a identified issue, which is why Solaris can only discover one particular drive at a time. Fedora and Windows had no concerns. All round, I'm happy w/ the solution.

Cons:Need to replug esata when turned on.

Pros:Cheap, Esata, 2 drives.

Very fast transfer speeds with esata. I'm not sure if it's my drivers or something, but it has an auto-off feature, and it kicks in when I turn the unit on when the computer is already on. I just need to re-plug the esata in the computer and it works fine. But it's a bit of a hassle.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:Need's port multiplier support (not Thermaltake's fault, that's just the way it is)

Pros:Convenient, well built.
Comment:
This is better built that my old Unitek dock, which had its plastic flap break after not too many uses. Each bay has a little eject button that physically pushes the drive up off the connectors. And the power button on the top-front is way more convenient that hiding it on the back like Unitek does.If you don't have a dedicated eSATA port on your motherboard backplate with it's own dedicated eSATA chipset, I wouldn't bother with this, as it's not safe to assume port multiplier support. Any using this over USB2.0 kind of defeats the purpose... but it'll work in a pinch I suppose.Price is good, especially after rebate. Five stars.

Cool operating (at least with 1 1TB and 1 2TB WD Caviar Greens)Dual drives by way of 1 cableDUAL DRIVES!Steady unit Short cables I initially had problems setting this up, but when I realized there were TWO settings in the BIOS to switch to AHCD and went to the ASUS web page and downloaded all attainable updates connected to BIOS and CHIPS, it is now operating. Other individuals have mentioned that the P6T SE didn't help port multiplying (even Thermaltake sent me a transcript of their conversation with Asus on the net tech assistance to prove that it couldn't), once you get the newest updates, it performs good!I highly advise this as a easy way to either explad your capacity without adding heat to the case or as an simple way to backup files much better, quicker, easier than with DVD's, and so forth....

I use a 2008 unibody MacBook Pro with an dual port eSATA Expresscardቾ with a Silicon Image 3132 chipset. I WAS using a JMicron 360 chipset card until I got these dual harddisk toasters and found that the JMicron chipset only recognized one drive even though their web page states that this chipset has port multiplier functionality. [What's incorrect with you guys JMicron?]These toasters function excellent with my two port eSATA expresscard on my 15" unibody 2008 MacBook Pro. They're quite good for copying information considering that you can do a drive to drive copy at native drive speed because the disks are on the very same bus. I bought two of these toasters as a result of I got tired of swapping so numerous harddisks with my single harddisk toasters. I also thought it would be funny/neat to see 4 external harddisks on the SnowLeopard desktop with SCSI marks on them.SIL3132 chipset has gotten some bad flack in the past when used in conjunction with MacBook Pros but with their updated drivers and 10.six.x, they're The power button on these items feels honestly economical and flimsy as opposed to their single drive counterparts that have a clean distinctive "click" to them. The solution performs quite effectively and that's all that seriously matters to me in the finish. If you're certainly crazy, you could purchase two eSATA hubs from Coolgear and use it with an eSATA expresscardቾ for your MacBook Pro and connect to 20 harddisks at after! You'll will need at least 12 extra energy sockets, and the 20 additional drives for this though. [If you do this, you're crazy.]
