Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:No Power saving or sleep mode for the HDD.

Pros:Functionality, ease of use,
Comment:
This is a simple, clever and functional HDD docking station.I got this to hook it up to my TV for digital movie playback. It works great with my Samsung UN46D6000 through USB connection. U have to connect it to the primary USB marked with an HDD for maximum transfer rates and compatibility, but other than that it works great. It also contains a E-SATA connection on the back, so u can transfer large amounts of data from ur PC.The TV recognized it as a USB memory stick when plugged in, so thats great news, as it should work on all newer TV's with USB-HDD markers.Transfer rates are worse than the single drive docking bay, but that's to be expected from a dual on a single connection.Full HD movies play perfectly and beautifully of it no problem.ThermalTake products tend to have quality and premature break down issues so just be aware of that. Will this last more than a year or two of continuous usage who knows.Recommended for PC movie buffs.

It is an useful device when you need to quickly test hard drives. It is really great with eSATA because the transfer rate is much better than USB 2.0. Will buy again!

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: -The power Cord is kind of short imo

Pros: -USB/ESATA-push button release-Easy to use-Cheap on sale (Seen it go $19.99)
Comment:
Recommended for everyone! Simply Plug ur harddrive in (3.5 or 2.5") and push button release. So easy a caveman can do it. Has gone as low as $19.99 but I'd pay like $35 for this. Really good if you have a laptop and wanna transfer stuff or friends harddrive or no more room in your tower. Only weakness personally is that the power cord is kind of short imo.Definitely would buy again if I didn't already have one.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: Have to start computer with the eSATA plugged in to be recognized, esata not hot swappable. Even when plugged in using USB, the hard drive has to be in the dock with the power turned on to be recognized.

Pros: Durable, Works
Comment:
The dock works as it should be besides the few minor weaknesses i've stated. Hope I helped.rebate is a scam, after more than 10 weeks after confirmation of receving all the proper documents, they deleted all records and tracking information thus destroying records of the rebate.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: None.

Pros: - Less expensive than two external drive cases;- Ability to hot swap;- Ability to handle multiple drive types (3.5" and 2.5" SATA)- Ability to take your drive with you and put away for safe keeping.
Comment:
I have only had this for a day but it is working perfectly. I am running it on Mac OS X 10.6 with a Hitachi 1TB 7200RPM drive which I purchased on sale at NCIX. I am going to use this drive as clone to my primary drive and I also purchased a 2.5" 680GB SATA drive to use as a removable backup. I haven't installed that one yet but I am sure it is going to work perfectly. Running it over USB 2.0.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: eSATA works for 2 hard drives only if your motherboard supports the feature. Power button too sensitive

Pros: Dual hard drive slots, convenient
Comment:
I had the single slot and found it convenient, so I purchased this duet since I have many SATA hard drives around. It's convenient to just plug-and-play hard drives without opening the case. However, if you want both hard drives to work at the same time with the eSATA connection, make sure your motherboard support port multiplier. Or you can just use the USB connection. The power button is very sensitive. It will turn on/off the dock even you didn't press it down.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: requires port multiplication on the eSATA port of the motherboard/PCIe card to make use of both hard drives in eSATA mode

Pros: two docks for added convenience of accessing twohard drives at the same time
Comment:
I only found out afterwards that to use both hard drives in eSATA mode, the eSATA controller requires a function called port multiplication. My motherboard (Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe) does not have the eSATA port multiplier function (that I know of) so I've been using it in USB mode ever since and it has been performing well.I've just bought a Syba PCI-E x1 eSATA card and plan to install it in my machine to allow me to use both hard drives in eSATA mode.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: - Made of plastic. I have not deliberately tried to damage it, but it feels like it could break if you treat it roughly.

Pros: - Useful. Does exactly what the product description says it should.- USB and eSATA cable included.
Comment:
A very useful device overall.Works perfectly fine on USB. It is a little slow but that is to be expected given the limitations of USB 2.0.When using the eSATA interface, your computer needs to support SATA port multiplication in order to access two drives simultaneously. Without port multiplication you can only access the drive in the first slot. If you intend to use eSATA, I advise doing your research beforehand to find out if your motherboard (or other SATA interface device) supports port multiplication. There is no cooling so the drives could get very hot if used for hours at a time.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: not compatible with WD EARS drives

Pros: Dual docking station, has esata option
Comment:
I have bought 3 of these. I have only used the USB connection. I am able to transfer files between each drive and to the computer. Drives dock in nice and firm, and has a blue activity led on the on/off switch. I have tried using the 2tb WD EARS drives and it didn't recognize it. It handles the 1.5tb EADS drives no problem. I still give it 5 stars.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: No USB hdd sleepShort cables

Pros: USB and eSATADual hdd
Comment:
I was disappointed to find out my hdds connected USB won't sleep or spin down. A quick chat with Thermaltake confirmed this -- no sleep or spin down mode on this unit. I hate hdds spinning 24/7! A hdd connected eSATA will spin down with the computer in sleep or off. I'm sure they could have easily added sleep mode. The eSATA cable provided is short and I can't get it securely connected to the unit; always feels loose. Other than those issues it works okay just wish it had sleep mode. Edited: I contacted other makers of hdd docks and all said USB sleep mode is not supported -- so it's not just Thermaltake. This review was modfied by poster @ 09-20-10 05:34 PM

Cons: Not very sturdy

Pros: Dual BayTakes both 3.5 and 2.5" driveseSATA & USBCheap after rebate
Comment:
This is a great device that works exactly as advertised and is pretty cheap after mail-in rebate. It's not that well constructed, but for a dock it doesn't have to be.And note that if you want to use 2 drives at once using eSATA, it must be connected to a controller with FIS port multiplier support. I use a cheap SIL3132 eSATA card.
