Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: none

Pros: dual docksfor sata 2.5" and 3.5" drivesesata/usbhot swappableall cables supplied
Comment:
this drive dock is very cool, i had many spare hard drives, and only one drive enclosure, which meant i had to take it apart every time i wanted to change hard drives, but with this its just plug the hard drive into the dock, very easy to backup things and with 2 docks, its can do more at once, i love this, no more burning dvd's for me

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: The power buttom is for both Hard Drive

Pros: Up to 2 TBDual Hard Drive
Comment:
Easy to use, support dual hard drive, up to 2TB, great Product! The only thing I don't like is the power buttom. Sometimes i am only using 1 hard drive, but the computer still reading another hard drive. Should have two power buttom for each hard drive.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: Power cord is a tad short... but not unreasonably so.

Pros: Very easy to use. eSata is very fast.
Comment:
I do many computer repairs and this is just the ticket for getting work done on hard disks without having to get on my knees! The transfer speeds via eSata are excellent. I haven't tried the USB. Hot swapping also works with AHCI enabled in the bios. Excellent product.

Cons: HD's tend to get hot with little to no airflow on them. Not a fault of the product just something to keep in mind.

Pros: Works with every sata drive I have used.Works as advertised
Comment:
Great unit, solid base stays in place and I don't feel nervous about it tipping or falling over because of a gentle bump or the like. The Hard Drives tend to get extremely hot when in place for a while, I remedy this with a house fan blowing on them directly, just something to keep in mind!Solid piece of equipment.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: None so far.

Pros: VERY handy, varied connectivity, decent price, two drives, if you need them.
Comment:
I got this unit in a recent sale, simply because I wanted another hard drive dock, and this one was cheaper than the single drive unit I wanted, so I figured I may as well get this one.I don't really need one with dual drive capability, but if you need more than one drive connected via a dock, this unit is excellent. Good things about this unit, as mentioned in the strengths section:- These hard drive docks are just plain handy to move data around between computers, either your own, or other people's.- What makes them even handier, is the dual connections, i.e. eSATA for those with that type of connection, so you can get the best transfer speed possible, and USB, for those computers that don't have eSATA.- Good price on sale, and even better if you don't mind doing the rebate paperwork.- The possibility to connect, and use, two drives at the same time, for folks that need that sort of thing.*NOTE* - do some research, and make SURE your eSATA port has a "port multiplier" function, that allows you to use two drives in this unit, if that's important to you.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: None so far.

Pros: The unit is pretty sleek and steady. Seems to be well designed. Only tried in USB so far and got average speed of 20 mbps.
Comment:
Its a good unit if you can get it for cheap. Able to swap hard drives rapidly is pretty neat and beats the need for a NAS if you don't need to share contents with the entire house or if you are living by yourself.

Cons: Drives get pretty hot; Doesn't sleep when the PC does (but that may just be a setting in the OS I didn't tweak yet)

Pros: Fast; Quiet; Reliable
Comment:
All in all I love this unit. It does exactly what I needed it to do at a much faster rate than I ever expected. I would definitely buy again if I had a need to.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: none

Pros: - two docks instead of just 1
Comment:
Absolutely love this dock, lets me dock two hard drives at once, which makes transferring files between two drives very convenient. Vertical hdd position is not exactly my cup of tea, but considering this is just for temperory file transfers its okay. eSATA port is a bonus!

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons: kinda pricy

Pros: Fast, dual bay !
Comment:
That's a very good docking station and if you have too much drives and don't know what to do with them. It doesn't have an effect on speed either. Nothing like swapping your drives quickly...

Cons: None

Pros: Esata works great, additional USB option is great for portability as well.
Comment:
I bought this to give myself an easily swappable sata interface for backing up personal data. So far I've been very impressed with the speed and the ease of installation. It was great that it comes with all the cables you need, even an esata cable so I didn't have to scrounge one up.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:None

Pros:Neat, easy-to-use
Comment:
I love this unit, and like another reviewer, I purchased to use for back ups, but also for video/audio back up. I use it every day with two WD green HDD and a couple on hand. I am converting much of my DVD library to HDD and the performance even through USB has been flawless. I have yet to install an esata card, but will soon do so. I was so impressed with these, I purchased a single version for my HTPC.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:It's big compared to most external drives. Requires external power supply.

Pros:Has both e-SATA and USB connections. Will handle two drives simultaneously. Drives run much cooler than in a standard external enclosure
Comment:
Using this with a Seagate 1Tb drive and a Hitachi 1Tb drive. I use this for storage and backups on several desktops and 2 laptops. Windows 7 recognizes it instantly attached as e-SATA and my motherboard supports port multiplier so it sees both drives. Very fast on e-SATA. My old htpc and laptops support only USB but it seems to be as fast as expected. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who does not mind the size. Much more convenient to simply swap drives in the docking station than opening up computers or enclosures whenever I want to add a drive for transferring files or doing backups.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:-None observed so far

Pros:-Dual drive slots support 3.5 inch and 2.5 inch drives.-eSATA and USB connectivity
Comment:
-This is a great way to quickly add a drive or two to a computer for formatting, data recovery, cloning, etc.Port multiplication (two drives on single eSATA port) works great on my Gigabyte MA78G-US2H motherboard. Hot swapping also works as long as SATA ports are in AHCI mod (not a limitation of this product but of the IDE spec.)Highly recommended.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:- esata won't work with most computers as it requires port multiplier in bios- does not support all drives

Pros:Dual drive dock
Comment:
I'm glad Thermaltake expanded their line of Blacx docking stations with this dual drive. However, some drives are either not supported or not fully supported. A 750GB Samsung HD would not spin at all, while WD15EADS would constantly click, and after going to sleep, makes the computer hang.Overall, a good purchase though for my use.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:- Feels cheaply made- 2.5" opening should have a flap as well

Pros:- Two drive bays- All required cables included
Comment:
The two drive bays is excellent, particularly if you need to copy to/from a couple of loose drives. It also comes with all the cables that you will need to connect this either via USB 2.0 or eSATA. It seems to work just fine. I duplicated a whole drive without issue. My only complaint is that the plastic used feels cheap and doesn't seem to quite sit right at the joints on the bottom. To keep dust off of the connectors it also wouldn't hurt if there was a smaller spring back flap attached to the larger one to cover the 2.5" opening.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:- If you HAVE to use eSATA, your eSATA connection must have port multiplyer support, or you will only see one drive.

Pros:- Fast over USB
Comment:
Running Win7 64bit, connected via USB and getting 30+MB/s. I was going to connect via eSATA, but I'm not going to bother as these speeds are good enough for me =)I'm very happy with this purchase. I have a few 250-500GB 7200RPM SATA drives that were lying around (because all of the SATA slots on my motherboard are in use), and now I'm using them for backups and video/photo storage. Simple to use, fast, and it works as advertised.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:speed

Pros:Works as expected
Comment:
The unit works as expected - running on Windows 7 64 bit and a modern LGA1156 motherboard. I used it with the USB adapter. I duplicated one harddrive to the other with large files, and didn't go much over 14MB/sec. The hard drive were 5400RPM green caviars, and I just did a normal windows copy - so its possible I could have gotten more out of it if I had really tried.Strongly suggest it if you know you'll want an easily accessible external storage option.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:Does not work with 64-bit Windows 7, eSATA or USB. You get what you pay for.

Pros:Inexpensive, Very Good RMA service
Comment:
Would not work with eSATA (laptop eSATA port and a ExpressCard eSATA port multiplier) or USB, kept freezing Windows 7 (64-bit Home Premium) or would go off and on every 5 to 10 minutes. Had to return it to Thermaltake.I could copy a large *.avi file to each drive in the Duet but when I went to play the movie from each drive with WMP, it would freeze Windows 7. Tried HDTune to benchmark the device, but it would crash as well. All in all, a very bad product for 64-bit Windows 7 users.Laptop is brand new with all the whistles and bells (Sager Notebook NP9280, i7-960, 6 GB RAM etc.), so it is NOT the laptop. Thermaltake issued an RMA with no hesitation or troubleshooting ideas (even when I asked them for assistance); therefore, I concluded more than likely they are aware of the problem but prefer not to comment.Bought an EZ-Dock2 and it worked flawlessly with the same drives as I had in the Thermaltake Duet.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Black Dual Hard Drives Docking Station
Cons:Except that you need a port multiplier that you probably won't have for eSata, it works great over USB...

Pros:Very simple to use and solid build
Comment:
Realizing that burning DVD was annoying / time consuming to backup stuff, i decided to go the HD route and thus bought this for an easy access to a bunch of swappable drives.Works like a charm :-)
