It works. I got what I paid for. Of course, it wasn't no cost. Haha My mother not too long ago bought a desktop and she would need to have a quite long CAT5 to be in a position to use it. I was originally going to just order a wireless card for her but figured a USB would be additional convenient. Went to local retailer with USB dongles, and the least expensive was 30 bucks. Checked on here and this one particular was 9 bucks when I purchased it. Cost-free shipping as well. She doesn't need to have the fastest or most feature filled device. It just works. Excellent job Newegg and TRENDnet!

shipped quickly, as soon as i plugged it in and turned on my laptop or computer (windows 7) it automatically installed drivers and identified three connection within ten seconds. discovered my router, entered password, and World wide web FO' LIFE! little enough to take on the road with other computers. did a speed test and just as fast as my wired connection. Excellent Item extremely brief usb extension cable. without having extension, it take up the space for two devices in back of computer system. THATS IT! this item was inexpensive and had high evaluation so i purchased it. . .it loved up to its critique log

Trendnet 54MBPS Wireless 802.11b/g USB Adapter 2.4GHZ Wep Wpa
Comment:
This is, thus far, the most reputable adapter I´ve owned, and just goes to show that expense doesn´t necessarily justify good quality. I´ve gone by means of my fair share of wireless adapters (too many to count). I ultimately purchased a 60$ Linksys adapter, thinking the added price would purchase me a far more durable item, but it burned out quicker than any. Maybe I just got unlucky... Regardless, I figured that if it´s going to burn out a single way or an additional, I really should just get a low cost, quickly replaceable adapter, so I got this one particular. Surprisingly, this cheap small adapter has outlasted just about every wireless adapter I´ve owned, and it performs nicely to boot. None so far *knock on wood* Very simple to use configuration software, excellent signal strength.

It would be uncomplicated to use if it truly worked, and it appears to have a reasonable range (again if it worked). Signal strength is over 90% and it will not retain a connection for more than five seconds just before disconnecting. Going to attempt the fix Howard posted in his evaluation, although I've already lost confidence in this device. Like others have said Newegg, please cease promoting us junk!

Straightforward styleEasy to setup (< 5 min)Built in cover for the USB portExcellent connectivity It get's hotA little on the fatter end (covers up adjacent USB ports)Included extension is only two-3 inches I got this for 8.99 versus ㅑ elsewhere. I've been working with TRENDnet goods for household networking and by no means have they failed on me. For less than ten bucks, this is a excellent adapter.fourǛ mainly because of the cons.

Affordable. But inexpensive is not constantly very good - as in this case. With over 400 critiques, I did not dig deep enough to read the negative reviews. These negative reviews are correct. This USB wifi device overheats, drops connections, and crashes Windows-XP. Others say that at some point the heat will destroy this device - this makes sense. It's just not worth shipping it back to Newegg for my cash back. Newegg, if you are reading this - quit selling this junk. I discovered a answer which appears to be working. 1. Uninstall the Trendnet softwaretwo. Go to the realtek website and download the s/w for the RTL8187B. I don't know why Trendnet buys the Realtek chip and writes their own software - sounds crazy to me. Use the Realtek software program.http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langidɣ&PNidɣ&PFidɣ&Levelɨ&Connɧ&DownTypeIDɥ&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#RTL8187Bthree. It won't hurt to let windows update install an even newer driver.four. ***VERY Vital*** Go into device manager, double click on the Network Adapter RTL8187B, go to advanced tab, set "Power Save Mode" to "Max_PSP" and set the "LED Control" to "disable"Now it seems to not overheat, Windows crashes have stopped, dropouts occur less often.I hope this helps others. Manufacturer Response:Valued client,We are sorry for any inconvenience this may well have triggered you and would like an chance to resolve your concern. Please e-mail us at sales@trendnet.com, reference "New Egg Product Assessment" in the subject line and someone will contact you in a timely manner. Thanks for your support of TRENDnet products.Regards ,TRENDnet Sales Team

Comes with a short (~ 3inch) USB extension cable so that it doesn't block the adjacent USB ports.Somewhat simple to setup and install the software program. Seems to lose connectivity occasionally (maybe couple times a month), but I'm not positive if it's the wireless router or this adapter. I just click "repair" on the wireless connection and it recovers. It'll go exactly where your personal computer tower is, unless you have USB ports accessible in other places. I pllug mine in to the back of my computer system, so it's way on the floor under my desk (which may possibly or could not decrease signal strength depending on where you put your personal computer and/or router)

These function good -- to all the individuals complaining -- most of you being windows 7 users, if you read the specs provided by newegg - you will see, that Windows & isnt listed as supported by this device -- typically it will work on windows 7, but not extremely well. (frequent disconnects) None Like I said, I have purchased over 20 of these for a laptop refuirbishment project -- by no means had one fail -- but I generally used the realtek drivers - never ever the CD...its a given you really should constantly check for recent drivers, in particular on a refurbished item. 9 times out of 10 the manufacturer will not replace the driver disc with the most current drivers when they refurbish a product. Most likely they have already lost funds on that item as it is and will refurbish it as cheap as doable.

Works out of the box - comes with a dongle to give you access to your other USB slots. Plugged it in to my Windows 7 computer and waited a minute or so for the driver downloads from Microsoft - locked on to the signal quickly. It also works with Linux Mint and PCLinux. Truly a excellent acquire - it was on sale, but it's worth more due to the ease of use and connection strength - I'm at least 150 feet away from the server. None I wish I'd bought much more than just 1.

Arrived swiftly as most Newegg merchandise do, shipped very securely in over-sized packaging. Downloaded the software program, plugged it in the USB port and wallah, instant excellent signal from the other side of the house with 1 wall in in between. I got this although it was under 9.00 bucks on a super sale but worth the 20 plus if your much less fortunate. A small on the huge size but they do present a little 3" long USB extender so you don't clog up the space around your other USB ports. I put mine on the back of my daughters desktop unit in her room to avoid her kicking it and knocking it about. I was going to install a Netgear Powerline adapter if this didn't generate a decent signal but it works extremely well in particular for the price. TRENDnet is swiftly gaining my trust as a brand.

Straightforward to install, USB compatible, wonderful coverage Big size, doesn't plug entirely into USB port, simple to bend and accidentally knock out If this one breaks or quits working, I'd opt for a smaller model that doesn't stick out so far. Just getting my laptop on my lap, the adapter is typically touching my knee or leg and gets bent upwards. I'm concerned about how lengthy until it breaks.

Affordable and uncomplicated way to add wireless to a pc Included drivers stink I purchased 2 of these, to make two desktop computers wireless. Both desktops Win7 64-bit.Initial performance was HORRIBLE. Quite slow, lots of dropped packets, lots of transmission errors.I downloaded the most recent drivers (RTL8187B Realtek chipset) from Realtek, and that changed every thing. No much more dropped packets, no far more transmission errors showing in my sniffer. In conclusion - fantastic small devices. Grab the newest drivers from Realtek and you will be happy.

Fantastic cost - Built in cover for the USB None but It is nice to have the built in cover for the USB. That is how I broke my last 1. This als came with a small pigtail so I don't have to hang it directly on the machine (again that's how I broke the last one) Really good - Low cost.

Ok if you're sitting close to it or about 40 ft away. Wired works great. Range isn't incredibly very good. I have a smaller residence and it wont reach my basement from the primary floor. Everyone seems to be listing their systems these days so here it goes:RAIDMAX Scorpio case | Corsair 650w | Asus p6T mobo | Intel i7 920 (Quade-core @ two.66GHz) | ZEROtherm core 92 heatsink w/fan | G.Skill DDR3 1600 3x1GB Gaming Memory (upgrading soon) | 2x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB 7200RPM 32mb Cache Challenging drives | Asus 22x DVD burner | 2x EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB DDR3 Video Cards running in SLI | all in 1 memory card reader | Hanns-G 25" Widescreen LCD | Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Impressive range. three other adapters I tried didn't get signal to my PC (kept me from getting to install a Wi-Fi booster) Gets hot. I agree that the adapter does get hot sufficient to be a concern. Solved this by working with a usb extension cable and taping it so the adapter is mounted behind my PC's case in the exhaust flow of air from the PC's fan. Stays nice and cool now.

Affordable. Bought for ű.99 immediately after rebate. Poor signal from router that is 20 feet away. Speed begins out at 54 MBPS, but rapidly drops to 1 MBPS. Continuously drops connections. It is now collecting dust in my closet. Would not recommend this adapter. Do not use the software or drivers that come with it. Download the realtek driver and let Windows manage the connection.

Very good connection excellent.Works with linux out of the box(On whatever kernel slackware 13.1 utilizes. I assume it works on any kernel past 2.6.24), no drivers needed. Tiny.Value. Connection to a netgear router I utilized to have was not so great. All others I've tried it on function fine, so I assume it was the router for whatever reason. Minus an egg. What else can I say? It was inexpensive and it works.
