I absolutely love this enclosure, one of the nicest ive dealt with, comes with everything you could need or want with it, the quality is amazing, the installation is simple, it looks great ----- Usb is always hot swappable, but if you want it to be hot swappable with Sata you have to have AHCI enabled, I enabled AHCI and now i can plug or unplug the sata cable anytime i want to move it and it just instantly recognizes it when i plug it back in, i couldnt be happier, if i need another enclosure ill definitely get another one of these!

After a day of having this, trying 2 different working SATA hard drives in it, and being unable to get it to function as eSATA (only USB,) I sent it back instructing Customer Service to send a replacement that worked. -They gave me credit instead, so maybe they know something that they weren't telling me about the product.

Good quality enclosure. The value is great especially when you consider everything included in the box. My only wish would be that swapping the drives out of it was faster. The solution to that is buy a tool-less enclosure, or buy more enclosures for your spare drives.

I put a 1.5TB drive in it. Easy installation of drive in case. Just a couple screws to disassemble and reassembly. Plugged into Windows and formatted drive. Solid case but wouldn't use for traveling. I think the drive would bounce up and down if used for any heavy traveling. Its a good external case for keeping on a desktop, shelf or around the house.

Use with a 2TB HDD for Time Machine on my iMac. Runs Great and have had no problems at all. I would buy another one if I needed one.

I have bought a few enclosures, but none as well put together as this one. I was very happy with the quality of this case. I know if I ever need another I will come back and get one of these.

My 5 yr old backup computer crashed to the point I could not access bios. Went to this site and purchased this product. Easy to setup and use. Tested with 2 hard drives using USB and eSATA on different computers and it worked perfectly. The eSATA transfer is really fast. Called Ultra tech support number for pre-purchase question and they came on the line fast , were knowledgeable and very pleasant.

Drive fits beautifully within it, and it is not overly large. Directions were easy to follow and the end result works well and is elegant looking. Only downsides were the blue light very bright and not dimmable, and I'd like to have seen a little padding where disk touches case, put put in my own.

Very well engineered so that there are no cables to mess with inside the enclosure. Hard drive can be completely installed in under 2 minutes. Much nicer than other enclosures I have worked with.

It does exactly what I wanted it to do it holds my extra hdd and does a great job too the transfer speed is just as fast as the drives inside the system. I bought 3 of them this time around and will buy more of them as needed. Everything you need to get up and running is included no extra stuff to have to buy like eSATA add in cards or brackets.

I matched this with a 1TB drive. Assembly was easy and the drive runs fast and cool. Build quality of the enclosure is excellent. No problems with hot swapping if you have achi enabled.

It turns the HDD motor off after a while you dont use it. It seems to get into a hibernate type of state. As soon as you access the HDD again, it spins up and quickly gives you the content. That means you dont have to turn it off when you dont use it. Great look, very small and well made. Thanks

This brushed aluminum case is absolutely perfect. I love it how it looks and works. I didn't know know that eSATA was not automatically plug and play. It depends on the OS. So just be sure to connect the eSATA before you turn on the computer, and remove it only after you shut down.

Aside from its looks, this overpriced enclosure is a flop. First of all, its power and USB jacks are loose to the point when the respective plugs simply fall out on their own. Also, the whole controller assembly leaves impression of a low-tech amateurish product. The only nice thing about this enclosure is its case (that still could use some more ribs or fins for better heat dissipation). The retail box for this enclosure is nice, too.

Comes with so many extras (screw driver, eSATA cable, eSATA bracket, USB cable) and even has a power switch! Do not buy an assembled external HDD, buy this enclosure and a good quality HDD and put them together, performing a Quick Format. Takes five minutes. Does not get unreasonably hot, and is only as loud as the drive you buy.

The TD product description said it would work with up to a 2TB SATA drive. I bought a 2TB 64MB,SATA-3G to use with the enclosure. Upon delivery, the box said it was compatible with up to 1TB drives. oh oh, maybe I'm in trouble. However, the box lies, my 2TB drive works fine with no problems. I was surprised that it comes with an eSATA connection interface that can be added to a desktop computer. I may opt to add it to my desktop if I have space. Another small convenience for those who are tool challenged is the small Phillips screwdriver which comes with the kit. Right now it's plugged into a NAS unit that already has an eSATA interface, therefore, I haven't had a need to use or test the enclosure's USB interface.

I bought a 2.5 inch mini-me version of this thing and was so happy with that, I decided to buy this bigger one so I could store all my junk on an external drive without having to pay the huge price for a name-brand external drive. I slapped a 1.5 TB drive in this thing and it is awesome! Now it keeps the little one company :) The only thing is, I don't know if it is something I am doing but e-SATA does not seem to be hot-swappable like I have heard. e-SATA is great for major transfers but I still use USB because its easy and truly hot-swappable.

form-fit-function is near perfect. I put a 2TB enterprise level drive in this enclosure and it really performs by dissapating the heat. Cheap plastic enclosures just won't cut it.

It took 7 minutes from removing the shrink wrap to formatting the hard drive. That's how easy this product is to use. I have used other hard drive enclosures, even other Ultra enclosures, but this one is the best. Everything lines up perfectly and makes starting the screws easy and assembly simple. With other enclosures you have to force the drive into place. Not so with this product. The drive connections are easy and positive. The design is unique and refreshing. The case is all aluminum and acts as a heat sink so there is no noisy fan. I will be purchasing additional enclosures and until something better comes along, this will be my first choice. I will highly recommend it to other users as the best there is.
