its a good item, if you will need it. its not anything to get to enhance your computer for no reason. my ide drive doesnt function on my mb for some explanation so i bought this. operates proper out of the box. genuinely straightforward to install. hook it up to the ide port on the cd drive, and to a sata cable to the mb. attach a energy cable to the cable hookup it comes with and your carried out. none its kinda uncomplicated to fallout of the socket. possibly a tighter fit?

Operates good, I had to set my HD to cable select. Did not work on my WD HD unless it was set to CS. The paper that comes with it says to set it to master, but it wouldn't perform on my machine set to master.

Its a good concept. This converter did not work for me :( Paid about the exact same value for it from a regional Computer retailer and was dissapointed to uncover that it did not operate with my Asus M2N-SLI mobo and my WD IDE drive. Luckily, this drive is only 80GB. so it wasn't a big loss to not have it transfer over from my old Computer. But nevertheless...I had to copy alot of Information off it and it was a pain to have unplug my other IDE drives to plug this a single in and get everything copied. Tried setting it to Master, Slave, and Cable Select all to no avail. At a single point I feel it did somehow register with my Computer, but it was giving incorrect drive readings and I consider somehow combining my major SATA drive with the IDE drive. Wish it had worked...now I have to go locate another converter. Most likely wont do that any time soon.

Operates wonderful. Just plugged the floppy connector into the converter, female molex connector into the ide drive and the male connector into the energy provide or my power supply has an additional line with a floppy connector and molex connector. I didn't use the supplied splitter. Created a neater arrangement. W/D H/D is on cable pick. Booted with that set up so didn't try any other. Documentation not too clear. Arrived quick as usual.

Employed two: 1 for about a 6 year old 60gb Western Digital and the other for additional recent Western Digital Caviar Blue 160gb. Each worked with out any issues. Really plug and play. None Just make confident you location the jumpers in Cable Choose (CS) mode to eliminate the possibility of errors. I did this beforehand so didn't have any problems. Folks reporting difficulties might have failed to do this.

Hook up is easy. This is the 1st thing I've ever bought from New Egg that sucks an egg. Soon after installing this point it did absolutely nothing. I tried it out on various drives and none wer reconized by my computer. Would RMA but it would expense as a lot as to ship as I paid for this issue. Don't obtain unles you have money to throw away.

Works correct out of the package. I converted two IDE HDD's to SATA mainly because I replaced my mothebroard with a new a single that has only one particular IDE controller. None that I know of. I have rebooted and shutdown this personal computer at least a dozen times and have by no means had any problems at all.I DID NOT use ANY jumper pin connections on the ide drives at all and my personal computer picked them both up immediately.Running XP Pro, Gigabyte G31M-ES2L, 2 GB DDR2800, C22 E-6750.

Functions properly. Can be utilised for IDE hdd or optical drives. Plastic encased and seems nicely created. Worthwhile to have lying around till IDE devices go the way of the ISA cards and dissapear completly or die and are replaced by sata or the next huge factor. IDE connector is slightly smaller then IDE port which implies you have to make sure the pins are lined up with holes. With the value of SATA optical drives is pretty much not worth price of buying a converter instead of obtaining new drive. Almost certainly additional worthwhile financially for tough drives. I am making use of 2 of these to connect two optical drives to my Asus P%K board. You need to make sure that the IDE pins and socket match up specifically. I had lots of trouble at initial finding my board to detect the drives and it was hanging at post sata detection for 30secs. I pulled out the drives and double checked the connection and each had been not connected to a pair of pins on every side. I reconnected and it worked perfectly. Make positive your drives are set to master jumper settings.

Reasonably priced, Quick, Trustworthy overall performance. Lets me keep my old optical drives in service. The only con I can come up with is the need for the modest floppy-style power connector. The additional "Y" cables needed for this clutter up the wire routing a bit as each drive needs two power connections. I have Ɠ) old Plextor Premium burners in my tower, along with a Plextor 760A DVD burner. I user all four drives at once for CD duplication work (using NERO software). When I moved to newer motherboards, I tried to get these that had enough IDE ports to support these drives, but had performance issues with each setup I tried. I could only burn at 4x if I was employing all drives at once. As a final resort, I purchased a pair of these converters for two of the four drives. With the two adapters, and the other two drives on an IDE port, I was in a position to get 16x on all drives - that's my target for the lowest error rate on these drives.I recently replaced my mother board and purchased a different pair of these adapters for the other two drives. Efficiency and reliability burning all 4 drives at 16x is the best I've ever had.At least with optical drives, you're better off operating them as SATA drives with these adapters than sticking with IDE. I have not tried them on difficult disks - haven't required to.

None. It doesn't operate! My Dell Inspiron 530 BIOS does not choose it up at all. You can tell it's attempting to automobile-detect it because the startup lags for like a minute, then gives up. If the mobo can't see it, windows can't see it.Returning this junk tomorrow!

Excellent idea Judging by past reviews and my personal experiences, it seems that it doesn't perform with almost everything out there. It doesn't function with the new motherboard I purchased. I tried it on all of the IDE devices to no avail. I even sat there and toyed with the BIOS settings for very some time.

nothing Didn't operate period. Newegg provided an RMA, but this factor is so cheap its not even worth my time to send back. You would be much better off getting a new device that has the connection you want. It would only be ten to ฤ much more and would help on cable management. Manufacturer Response:I am sorry that the device is not operating effectively. Please be positive that the device is powered along with your drive. Both the converter and the IDE device wants power to totally function. Also make sure the IDE device is set as MASTER. Hope this assists you out, if not please contact our RMA dept to get that exchange for a brand new 1. Thank you and have a good day!

*It does what it's supposed to do. *I transferred two PATA drives to a single upgraded SATA drive.*Small *Sometimes feels like it isn't in all the way. For much less than ฟ, I can't complain.*Lack of directions. I utilized Newegg reviews for instructions. (Place jumper settings for cable choose). *I can see exactly where individuals may have thought it was broken or defective. I messed about with the Y energy plug and it wasn't detecting one of my drives, regardless of jumper settings. Walked away, came back and plugged it in appropriately. Worked!*I had a problem with one of my drives that had two partitions. Windows 7 detected a single partition as RAW. Easeus software, fortunately, aid recover it.

Plug and play 100% in Win7 Pro, Worked on my NEC CD Rom and my Seagate old EIDE drives no complications however. Works! It only functions 1 device so you have to have much more than a single to have yet another CD or challenging drive. If you try to hook up two cables, the end plug is a female and you will need an all maile plug apparently. I never saw one particular of those in all the years of creating rigs. Perhaps I missed some thing? ฟ every is not a lot to spend in order save an old drive for use on a SATA method.
