It does in reality operate (for me, at least). Thanks for the tech help reviewers!!!!! Did not function as desired with jumper at MASTER as per the integrated documentation. Messed around with BIOS to no avail. Resorted to read testimonials for Newegg to troubleshoot. Had to alter jumper to CABLE Select, it functions like a charm now. Product should have been tested far more completely and greater documented.....but it's a affordable function around, waddaya expect!

Functions as intended. Saved me from having to get a new hdd for my SATA mobo. None Make sure you line up the pins on the hdd to the holes on the adapter. The unit wont work unless ALL the pins are utilized on the hdd :D

Does what it is supposed to. Box consists of the Y-splitter for power and it doesn't impede by tough drive any for its power. Not sure why other people had been getting difficulties with this item. Was fairly considerably "plug and play" for me. Just make confident the device is set as either Master or Cable Choose and all need to be excellent. None

Converts IDE HDD and CD/DVD players to SATA as described. I installed two WD Caviar 40GB HDD in an old ECS 6100-SM Motherboard employing these. It recognized the drives instantly, and I HAVE been in a position to install WindowsXP Pro on them in a RAID configuration. Almost everything you require to get them to function is in the box. The only Con I see is that if you don't have the space in your case configuration to extend the length of your HDD or CD/DVD player by 1.5 inches, these will not function for you. I did alot of investigation just before desiding on these, and then I only purchased two to attempt them out. Mainly because of my expertise with them, I will be getting a lot more of these.

appears to perform for old smal HHD does not seem to be able to recognize massive drivesonly saw my 20 Gig drive would not see 250 GiBbased on case/bay style this item might be too major to close cover.

None. Would not function. More over it locked up my Pc. Upgraded the motherboard and nevertheless no luck. Tried it on my close friends Computer with the identical result. I hope an individual is having good results with this item, I confident am not.

Does what it really should It does not come with a SATA power cable, which is needed for employing this with a drive-dock (which I imagine is the cause many people would get this). If you are going to use this with a SATA drive-dock, do yourself a favor and add to your order a 15 pin male SATA to four pin female molex cable, and THEN you will have every thing required to use it with a SATA drive dock.

I received this and it did not perform. This is the second one that I have gotten (one not from newegg) that did not work when I plugged it in. Did not work. Newegg client assistance is wonderful!

Decent high quality; clear directions; completeness; worked as advertised None I got it so I could temporarily connect a couple of old IDE drives--one at a time --to wipe them just before donating them. I just opened up the personal computer and unplugged the SATA cable and power cable from the laptop's SATA harddrive. Then I plugged the Vantec into the IDE drive, plugged the SATA cable to the Vantec, plugged the "Y" power cord to the IDE drive and Vantec and the other end into a spare power plug in the box. I had a USB floppy drive connected and booted up with Darik's Boot 'N Nuke (DBAN) , selected the DBAN wipe mode and away it went. Hours later just reversed the hookup and put the Vantec away.

easy to install , plug and play , does come with power supply as another review claims it doesn't, fit into inspiron 531s not much room to spare but works for little form . saved a lot of time using my media difficult drive from other personal computer and easier on pocket book than purchasing a different difficult drive. diagram doesn't state if will need to use both power supplies , i utilised both and had no complications, small bulky for the modest space provided in most computers may well not fit other sff computers overall very good get

Very uncomplicated to install worked as avertised. fairly easy as advertised no cons. Built a pc for my Father in law. Utilized his haed drive due to fact he liked the way he had every little thing set up visually and user prefrences.

2 items and works fine and nicely. It maintain your ide devices working fine with sata.Utilizes for difficult disk and dvd rom, all ide devices.Works for me quite well. None. Back Space use on ide devices.keep in mind that you put this converter if you don't want to use any additional ide cables directly back of the ide devices and use the back space of every of one.Jumpers steal have an effect on the readings of the mother board including sata with this converters just in old days. Doesn't affect significantly. It's works.!

Does the job of making use of your old ide drive on newer motherboards with only one ide connection. A very prevalent upgrade issue .XP SP2 repair install worked fine . Newegg once again delivers. Could not get XP to boot into Safe Mode or use Accurate Image 10 or 11 to make an image from the boot media. Safe Mode BSOD's Ox07e and TI 10 hangs and TI 11 doesn't even see the drive. Switching the drive to the IDE port proved XP would boot in Safe mode. If you have a modest case (mATX) where the challenging drive mounts sideways in the case , then the device will not fit. I had to use a three.5 to five.25 drive kit to mount this in an Emachines case I was upgrading for a client. Tested with a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L , WD 120 IDE on channel SATA1 . XP Residence SP2 working quite properly in Normal mode.The Secure Boot and Accurate Image problems are a minor problem and can be worked about as previously mentioned. I don't know if this is an issue with all these types of adapters or not, but be aware.

Worked as advertised for me - plug it in, connect the energy and SATA cables, and off I went. No issues at all, specifically what I hoped it would do. These factors stick out perhaps three" from the back of the HD. I had to do some creative drive placement to keep them from hitting other components in the case. I've got a Cooler Master case with a truly nice HD rail method in which the drives sit sideways in the case, and I couldn't use these on any drives in those slots, they had been just too lengthy.

got four of these. they all work. running 4 IDE hdds on my p5q. not a hitch. effortless to use. none... ...soon i'll lastly get a single sata drive to replace my old reliable quantum IDEs Ɣx80gb). then i'll have 4 perfectly working vantec converters collectin dust. oh well. they work fantastic though!

low-cost.. works.. easy Big.. this thing will add a couple inches to your har drive. In Front mounted cases , you might be hitting your video GPU.In Side mounted circumstances , you may well be hitting the side of your case I put these in a Coolermaster HAF (HUGE CASE) and had to squeeze the side panel on following installingthes ethings. May want to contemplate 90 degree angle SATA cables when using these.Also... there is a different item virtually identical to this on Newegg for Ū less . Difference is, this 1 comes with the energy adapter u will will need.

None since it didn't even recognize the drive It didn't recongnize the drive. Even tried in a different computer, nuttin. Complete waste of time and income. Stear clear. Oh, and Vantec, you've lost a customre for life, congrats on that...

It works Slow, a bit bulky unless you have a large ide challenging drive that you want to use for storage, then your probably better off just obtaining a new sata challenging drive.

Plug and play, extremely uncomplicated to use. Even comes with the required sata cable and power cord. From what I see so far, none. It did take it a small while for my pc to recognize the tough drive, but see my "Other thoughts" to discover out why. I am truly utilizing a 2.5 difficult drive from an old laptop, 160 gb. It's a IDE challenging drive. So how am I using this? I first placed a 2.five to three.five IDE changer, then the unit here to finish off the deal and make it SATA. It extends the challenging drive by a different 2 inches but works excellent!!! I kinda laugh when I saw the final product and was surprised at the speed of the challenging drive. It's a 5400 rpm drive and had my other drive at 7200 rpm copy over a five gb file in three minutes. Not bad for a easy storage drive.I didn't use the jumper for setting the drive to master or slave given that the hard drive I employed was just a storage drive. Cable Choose works finest from what I can tell on here.BTW, didn't buy this item from newegg, but should have, they have the far better cost!!!

Nicely it worked. I am making use of it for a cd/dvd burner. I needed it to install xp on my computer mainly because my Mobo only had 1 ide header. And it appears quick not slow.....and works good for now! Very same Speed as IDE Cable. I didn't put the jumper on master seeing that other users had trouble. So i put mine on cable select and worked 1st time!! I would recommend putting jumper on cable choose instead if master. IMO Nicely it works great on a Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L. I would buy it once again!
