For the Price, this enclosure cannot be beat! A great value with 2 interfaces available. Full speed via SATA and it'll max out a USB 2.0 Connection as well. Only gripe was it would not connect to many of the ports on various computers I had (USB). Traced it down to the fact that the supplied USB cable is perhaps, well, cheap. I'm not docking points because of the value here, but just something to keep in mind if you do have trouble connecting to it. Initially thought it was a driver issue, hard drive compatibility, etc (stated USB could not connect/malfunctioned), but a cable solved it all!

I have owned one of these enclosures for my 1tb drive at home for a long while and its been solid since day one. However, I just purchased one for a client and within a few days the ic burned out.. fortunately the drive installed is fine but I needed to take it back and exchange. I gave it a 5 first review but its going down to 4 for that.. otherwise its a nice enclosure.. especially the price for getting esata. As I said, mine works great at home so it was disappointing to get one that burned out so quickly, but it does happen from time to time.

Bought it awhile ago for an external drive for my laptop. It's nice to have the eSATA speeds and it runs cool to the touch. I've never had any problems with it and would recommend it to anyone.

Free eSATA bracket for desktop case is a nice touch. Reliable, easy to setup, requires no extra drivers or software, and supports drives up to 2TB (despite the fact that a maximum of 1.5TB is written on the box). Perfect for backups or dumping files off for space.

This is simply a superlative product. If you're looking to buy a basic external desktop storage solution, put all your shopping for external drives on hold and buy a 2TB hard drive and this enclosure. You'll get a 2TB external drive that's cheaper and FAR faster (thanks to esata) than anything on the market.And not only is it cheap, but it's solidly built as well, with solid aluminum for good heat transfer and durability. It even comes with a free esata bracket, so your computer is guaranteed to have esata connectivity (provided you have a spare sata port).This enclosure goes beyond simply being good for the price; I'm not sure you can buy a better esata single drive disk enclosure for any price, let alone for the $20 it's going on sale for as I'm writing this. If I didn't already have as many of these as I needed, I'd buy another without hesitating.

Does exactly what its suppose to do. Very sturdy and durable build. If you want a great blend of quality/price then this is the product for you. You won't find a better build at this price. The only gripe I have is the short power adapter wire. It's way too short for my liking, but I can't really complain at this price and quality.

This comes with a PCI esata adapter! I did not expect that and it was not mentioned in the description. For those of us who don't have a built in esata slot on the motherboard it's a huge bonus. I forgot to order a PCI card so I thought I would have to settle for USB 2.0 speeds, but when I opened this I found a nice PCI card included and connected it directly to a SATA port on the motherboard. Hard drive was detected immediately after restarting the PC. Comes with a USB cable and esata cable.Vantec has ensured my business for a long time to come.

I've had several of these enclosures for over a year, and they are solid, and I've (accidentally) left them on for many days on occasion, but they still don't overheat, even though they have no fan. Not that I recommend doing that with external drives as a habit, anyway.The only issue I have with it is that the on/off button on ONE of my units occasionally seems a little bit dodgy and doesn't quite work. Otherwise, these are great external enclosures.

Good inexpensive enclosure. Working well with a WD Green 500GB connected to a Shaw Motorola PVR (DCT3416). Comes with a stand, USB A to B cable, eSATA to eSATA cable, and an eSATA PCI slot bracket for those computers without an external Sata port at the back. Leaving it on for a few hours and it's only slightly warm. Could have been made smaller/shorter though.

I have sworn by Vantec's Nexstar ever since buying the USB 2.0 only version, and this one with eSATA meets my expectations and more.Besides it sleek and attractive design, this enclosure is extremely rugged; after tripping over the power cord and causing it to fall from desk level to hardwood flooring, neither the drive nor the enclosure were damaged.The power adapter also supports up to 3TB drives, and I have never had one of these overheat on me regardless of use or capacity.Don't hesitate, and just get it. For $19.99, you won't find a better enclosure.

A good USB 2.0 + eSATA 3.5" enclosure that comes with all the necessary cables and screws. The case has decent heat dissipation and is light & compact enough to be carried around. I like the detachable vertical stand.The performance is decent when used with my Seagate 2TB green drive. The case is sturdy enough and no extra noise comes from the enclosure itself during operation.

This enclosure is great for its price but it does get a little warm to the touch. Sometimes I worry about having a fan-less enclosure but only time will tell.The only issues I have with this enclosure are its oddly shaped A/C adapter and bright blue LED at the front of the unit.The A/C adapter on this unit covers up TWO OUTLETS on my surge protector. It also has a green LED built into it which is a little odd to see at night. The blue LED is just as bad at night but I guess you could just try and disconnect the LED.

When shopping for an enclosure, all you're really concerned about is the outputs you need (ex. USB 2.0 and eSATA), the size (3.5"), and method of heat dissipation (passive). Once you have those requirements down, you're just looking for the most attractive, most reliable, and cheapest enclosure on the market. If your requirements are the ones that I mentioned than this enclosure fits the bill perfectly.

Overall solid device, comes right out of the box working if you have a harddrive to plug in. Power adapter cord is too short, should be longer.

I paired this up with a WD 1.5gb EARS green drive. The drive with this enclosure was straight forward to install. The look of this case is really nice. A clean, simple, professional look.

Just picked up one of these for a friend, and have to say that it's a pretty good little external hard drive box, especially for the price. I pricematched this thing to $20, and a couple of days later it was that price in the sale, as it often is, and for that price it can't be beat.The good:- As mentioned in the section above, having a choice of eSATA, for those that have that type of connection, or USB 2.0, for just about everybody else, is excellent, although, admittedly, pretty well commonplace now.- VERY good price, even at the regular price.- Just plain works as intended.The bad:- The only thing missing, is some grippy rubber feet of some kind. I wasn't particularly surprised that the unit itself didn't have rubber feet, since this thing is obviously intended to sit vertically in the included stand(although I personally prefer these to lay flat), but I was surprised that the stand itself didn't come with rubber feet, because either the enclosure, or the stand are very easy to slide around.In spite of the non included rubber feet, this unit is still a very good deal, considering the low price, and the connectivity.

Bought this with a WD Caviar Blue 500GB as an expansion drive for a Shaw Motorola DCT6416 III DVR. Works flawlessly and saved a few bucks over the Shaw version.

Bought this on sale for $20 and paired it up with a WD 2TB Green. Works wonderfully. Comes with a Esata bracket that you can install if you dont have a Esata port. Overall great product and I would reccomend it.

Bought this along with a 2TB HD for my backups. It was easy to install and everything worked the way it should. This is my 3rd Vantec external case all are still working and haven't had any problems with them.
