The drive enclosure came well packaged with everything you need. I tossed in a 750GB Seagate and found that the drive runs cooler than the ones in the main box! This is a quiet and well engineered HD enclosure that is worth every penny.I will probably get another Vantec enclosure, as I am sure that I have a VelociRaptor kicking around somewhere. |

I like this external drive. It is the second one I had and I only wanted a few things: slim, eSATA and no fans. A thing is to considere this external encloser is not really stable when we want it on the side. |

Cons:Needs AHCI on SATA controllers. That's no huge deal but it would have been nice to find that out from reading instructions rather than checking forum or problem solving.A small phillips screwdriver is needed for the two screws at back. I had to search for mine!
Pros:Good looking, though the old ones are OK, too.Comes with all cables and esata bracket.I like the new simplified PS - easier to find a replacement if one fries.Decent price.Working fine copying files, with good temps on WD20EARS - so it apparently can work fine with larger drives if they don't draw too much power.The slim design and reasonable price means I can keep my backups in a safety deposit box, and transporting in an enclosure is a lot safer than transporting bare drives. I had my esata connections connected to an old SYBA PCI SATA card, so I was upset to find things not working (I'd bought 3).A quick check of the forum made a fix possible in one minute, and things have worked fine for huge file transfers.Construction seems pretty solid - so all that my enclosures have to do is keep working, to keep me happy. |

Great enclosure for the price with a very simple installation procedure. The included eSata bracket is phenomenal and was a life safer because even though my HTPC has a front eSATA port, its recessed so only certain HTPC cables (slim ones) will fit in fully. |

I got this enclosure and a 2TB Seagate LP drive on sale on black Friday and so far it is working great. It runs cool and quiet and when connected by eSATA it is very fast. It even included a USB and eSATA cable and an internal SATA to eSATA connection bracket. |

I bought three of these hard drive enclosures. I liked the first one i bought; then, I decide to buy additional two of enclosure. It worked very well with my WD hard drive. I used them to store the HD movies and play them on my WD media player. It is good quality and good price. Get it on sale if you can. |

Have one of these working with a Seagate 7200.12 1TB drive. The housing stays relatively cool even after 2 hours copying gigs of files to the drive. Drive temperature never went above 38C which was great for a passively cooled enclosure. The esata connection provided fast copying. |

I love this enclosure. It looks durable with high quality design. Bought it originally to convert Bell 6131 receiver to PVR but receiver won't recognize the drive. I changed 2 different drives inside, one Hitachi one Seagate, both are 500gb, with no luck. In the end I have to swap with an external seagate used on PC, and use this enclosure with PC instead. Everything went fine. I found it's a bit pricey compare to the keep-going-down hdd price. |

The enclosure build quality is really good (aluminium!)The USB plug seems a bit loose: I had a connection reset during a transfer the first time I tried it. I played with it a little and it didn't happen for the rest of the day. The eSata plug is more robust. |

This is one of the cheapest enclosure that comes with eSATA, and USB of course. So no need to worry about speed. It works well with my WD green, and I back all my data in this drive.But with the USB 3.0 coming out, Vantec might have their new products lined up. And I just hope they re-design the LED cable a little bit. |

Needed an enclosure for my dad's hard drive. must admit, it looked a bit large when i picked up the box. but it's pretty slim, and really it's similar in size to most external desktop hard drives. i was trying to compare it to 2.5" external hard drives, which are usually smaller. anyways, pretty easy to put together. plug and play. no problems whatsoever. really recommend if you're looking for a cheap enclosure. |

Got this on sale and for the features at this price its pretty good. everything works as it should . Sata hard drive only!! No support for ide hard drives. i put a 1 tb in it and it supports it. don't like the power plug from the wire to the case. had one go lose with wear and loses power connection. Not good in the middle of transfering data. Good price when its on sale but there are others that are better. Another thing i don't like is how hot it gets. i have an enclosure with a fan in it and it was a lot cooler. But it also cost more. At $20 its a good deal |

It's a shame that it didn't seem to exist, at least at this price when I bought mine as there's no way that it's worth 2x more just because it haves a eSata port behind. This model is the same price as the USB-only version so gotta be **** to get the other one. I highly recommand this case to anybody. |

Bought this as a HD PVR expander enclosure, put a 1TB drive inside and was up and running in under a minute. Works perfectly so far and don't notice any extra noise with the drive sitting right up next to the front of the AV equipment under the TV.Worth getting vs. the $150 Shaw expander |
I really prefer this enclosure compared to the Nexstar 3 because the power switch is easier to press, located at the top, easy assembly and support for 2TB HDD's. If the light bothers you stick a piece of electrical tape on it and quit your whining ;p
