James Rating: Review Date: 08/22/11	Verbatim 8.5GB Dual Layer DVD+R 2.4X 20 Disc Spindle Comment: -DVD+R does not need to be formatted prior to burning data-Dual-layer for double the "normal" DVD storage capacity-Superior cost for level of quality - very few coasters-Plays in most DVD players, unlike several other brands I've tested -Reviewers with inferior burning drives, stating the discs as the issue instead of the hardware You'll pay much less for other brands but get many, quite a few a lot more wasted discs along with it. This is the greater VALUE

(except the ones that were my fault). In 1 of my packages i got a piece of plastic, there was no memory on the disk. I counted it and there were 19 other disks (that had the memory on it) and this one. So i assume it was just a misprint in the factory. Other than that 1 disk that had no memory i have been quite satisfied with my purchases and would extremely recommend anybody buy these.

Burns at three.5x most times. Not the fastest disc out there. Get when on sale, which appears to be generally. Think about a faster disc if burn times are a large deal to you.

I had two stacks of memorex dvd-dl and not one worked, apple even replaced the superdrive under warranty and still did not function, but just before they replaced it once again I tried these Verbatim and they burned perfectly. I employed other brands for cd-r and they had been fine, but these are the only brand I recommend for dvd-r or dvd-dl. much more expensive than other brands, but worth it when none fail. I also suggest burning at lowest speed with DVD-DL, it will lessen the chance of a failed burn. 1 disk stated unreadable, but I pushed it back in anyway and it burned just fine.

The only drawback is that the burning time is long at 2.4x. But if your're patient you can stuff a lot of data on them.
