Speedy drive. This really hard drive is fantastic for booting and loading your major applications on. Had to send the initial 1 back. But Newegg is good and replaced it. The second drive operates flawlessly.

It's a 10k rpm drive. I had to spend for it. Individuals who complain of it becoming "loud" should have supersonic hearing?

Much faster loading than 7200 RPM HDD Price tag Had a WD HDD crash following two weeks in prior machine. Was apprehensive about WD but with 50% market share what can you do. Wanted SDD but technology and bit/$ just aren't there yet. 1st 10k HDD. Would RAID with SDD or HDD if issues/cost boost. Most MS goods load speedily anyway, but game (BF2) is considerably quicker. Hated waiting for login/map load. Also can get to map faster which indicates much better decision of armor/aircraft.

Purchased 8 of these more than the holidays to build a RAID five technique, I like the speed, the quiteness and low temp compare to my prior SCSI system. Like I said in the title, these drives are fast but UNRELIABEL, after a small more than a month of ownership, the drives began to failed on me, one at a time. Fortunately, I have them in a RAID method so it doesn't have a enormous influence to my productivity.

These are quickly! There IS a difference involving a affordable 7200rpm drive and this enterprise class drive. Can't beat the ๳ deal. Had to get 2. None. Already have two of these in RAID for the past two years with zero issues.

Quickly, somewhat sturdy, WD is a wonderful business that stands behind their items. I've bought two of these from a B&M locally. One particular was noisy from the commence and died at about 18 months. The second is the drive in the computer I'm posting this on. It has never ever been noisy at all and is operating strong immediately after 3-four years. The 150g drive I rma'd was replaced with a 300g raptor. I've had reasonably couple of WD drives fail through the years and all round they appear pretty bulletproof.

This is prolly the best hard drive i've owned so far. It is fast but windows does cap it at 5.9 as the rating, purely since it will cap ALL non-ssd tough drives at five.9 (the excellent ones produced within 4 years anyways). this is a quicker-then-your-average-difficult drive and i originally had it purchased it from best purchase as a birthday gift. i myself would have purchased it from newegg, but the purchaser was pressed on time. it's a lot more affordable on newegg as nicely (when the price is dropped to ๳). it only has a 16mb cache. if there was a model with 32mb or even a 64mb cache, it could most likely easily out preform low-end to mid-grade SSD's.it's about 10 far more dollars then best buy's price how ever (at the time i bought it, practically a year ago). it only failed me when, but that is mainly because i had a poor slipped streamed copy of windows 7 and didn't set up effectively, erasing my MBR. not truly a con, but ehh...

Picked this up for ๳ on sale. I upgraded from a seriously old 5400RPM drive that sadly had windows on it. I was just as well lazy to transfer to my WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 drive. but hey i required a good drive for my windows and my most important games. Not as rapid as I believed it would be, it sounds weird but i don't notice considerably of a difference in boot time from my old 5400rpm which has me baffled. I was searching into SSD but wanted a greater drive so I could put W7 and LoTRo on it, I wasn't prepared to dish out like 200 bucks so i cought this guy on sale. I heard a lot of great issues about these drives from buddies saying the speed was brilliant, but i just don't see it.

Bought a single over the holiday when it was below 贄! Fairly rapidlyQuite rather. none I upgraded from a 150 to this 300 due to the fact I was making use of about 100GB's of the old one and noticing some program slow down. Drive works wonderfully as my OS/Program drive. It handles W7 64 Ultimate fantastically with Adobe CS5, AutoCAD 2010, and Solidworks open simultaneously. Also works when I open a music player, I'M'ing, and internet browsing with the talked about programs operating, granted it slows down a bit.

SSD's are faster, much more quickly but atleast this drive makes up for it with compacity and Price tag. If you can get it for 贄 Buy Purchase Obtain. But if it hops back up to 赔, you may possibly just want to jump to a caviar black 1 TB.

Anything! Like the 10,000 RPM speed! Operates properly as a master or secondary drive. Speedy file access and data transfers. Possibly it really should be 6.0Gb/s? If you want far more than this, go with a SSD.

Fast, decent storage size. Value? Compared to SDD prices tho, this factor is a Fantastic option to these that don't want to dedicate dollars to their Computer in hard instances. I use this as my boot/games drive. Every little thing else goes onto my 1TB Seagate.

Good transfer speed, sleek shape, was provided in a superb Newegg deal. Definitely should have bought two..My old Raptor drives have lasted me 4 years and ought to continue to last longer. Decided to get one additional now that they are more affordable. High priced. (but powerful) Still waiting for Solid State engineering to mature.

Raptors are amazing. (Both the difficult drive and the dinosaur). Can't hear it over the fans currently whirring-away in my situation, runs cooler than my 1TB Caviar Black and is indeed a bit more rapidly. Not by leaps and bounds or something, but yes, a bit snappier. It's about the very best you can do with platters that I've observed, excluding SCSI of course. Completely content with it. Pricey for the storage you get, but that's to be expected for these of us who demand a different 2,800 RPM. I like the yellow sticker for some explanation. Like, "CAUTION! This drive be fast!" ...Even though I only saw it as soon as. (When shoving it into the situation).

I held off shopping for this one waiting for the value drop. At the new & enhanced price, this is a extremely fine disk drive for general objective desktop use. Quickly, quiet, and huge adequate for typical house systems. It arrived on time, and properly-packaged in bubble wrap. Thank you Newegg for "no surprises". None

I've been running 2 of these in raid 1 for over a year now and in this config are nearly as fast as ssd and redundant to boot. yes I loose the right speed, but I'm a gamer so read speed is critical to me. possessing play with guys that have ssd's, I can inform you I load in every single bit as rapidly as they do and did it for ũ per gb not Ū like ssd's. The only con is they haven't updated them to SATA 6.0Gb/s, but I'm not confident most wouldn't notice the difference, and some may well not have a motherboard that supports it anyway. The only factor I would do differently now is perhaps get the 450 gb or 600 gb which are SATA 6.0Gb/s, so even quicker than mine.

Rapid, quiet, working with it for major OS drive. Appears to run cooler then the other hd's ive had. Initially drive started out stuttering and freezing randomly, But... I nevertheless gave them 5 eggs mainly because the web page took not even a minute to get the RMA setup and they sent me a new one out and the new 1 was sent back to me 2nd Day Air. Particularly fast assistance is crucial and im extremely content with the outcome. Been running a week and no stutter/freeze with the replaced tricky drive so all is well!

Comment:
I replaced two older 7200 rpm drives with two of the VelociRaptor and set to RAID1 mirroring. I noticed an instant boost in challenging drive performance. The old 7200 rpm drives rated five.1 out of 7.9 on Disk transfer data rate and the new ones are at 5.9. They are very quiet when running. At a listed 赓 every I only went for the 300GB size and wanted to go bigger, but the up-cost was additional than I wanted to spend for a home machine. Even though we are all waiting for the solid chip drives to come down in price/up in capacity, the ten,000 rpm drive may well be a very good alternative for the time becoming. Go rapid or go house!
