OK… I have owned two of these drives for nicely more than two years going on 3. I started with two running in Raid for my program. Individuals place 1 of these drives and think that it is going to make a massive distinction, effectively I hate to be the individual to burst the bubble but it will not. But, and I do mean this with a crazy smile. If you pair two of these beauties together then were talking a planet of difference.1. They are quickly if you know how to use them.two. If you think they are loud then sell it. Speed is sound. three. Built rock solid. four. Oh did I say if paired it’s genuinely quick. I now use these drives as a data backup and file storage, and I ought to say they are quickly at that too. None they are superb drives. Very Really Quick. Buyers remorse kicked in and now I wish I'd brought two rapid 7200rpm drives and set them in raid . Would've been more affordable much more space and the similar performance. Or perhaps I'll just buy a 2nd one for raid ...

I really like them. Such fantastic speed though in RAID , i adore getting in a position to speedily move files. I function in photoshop and these puppies are a dream when moving huge files. Love the spped among them and the SSD, too poor i only have a boot drive or id be in a position to witness that speed much more they are usually costly, i got a no brainier deal from cyber monday Its far better having less of a step down. Why have a super quickly SSD and a slow HDD- bottlenecked by a regular HDD. This drive in RAID or not can at least make the SSD content, with their relative speed.

I had 1 300GB for about a year, operating fine. I decided to get another to see if a RAID stripe would improve speed. My windows score went from five.9 to 6.two. Not a huge improvement, but cheeper then SSD-for now. RAID can be a discomfort to set-up, if you have an older MB that needs a floppy to load the RAID drivers. I managed to load mine from a USB stick. I like WD.

This drive has lasted me 3 years and is still going robust. Makes my entire system perky and responsive. Finest of each worlds of speed and price of an SSD and common 7.2K drive. Size limitation. But that's expected out of a 10K drive. E8400 Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.0Ghz4GB DDR2 Memory9800GT Nvidia 1GB graphics adapter

They are quick and cool searching.Western Digital has a superb RMA method. I bought 4 of these drives in 2009. Because then, I've had to RMA four occasions. I believe i nonetheless have 1 of my original drives, but since they kept failing each four or 5 months in RAID, i'm left with 3 re-certified drives. I've been reading that these drives had a firmware problem with RAID. It's been a headache, and you don't require me to tell you that these drives aren't worth the income or hassle(when they fail on you). I don't even think they were worth it back then. I just wish i had bought four large 7200 rpm drives rather than these. I'm praying when i get this subsequent drive back from WD it will be the final time i have to RMA one of these.

None I have had this HD much less then a month and it has already crashed. It was set up as a secondry drive, but I had to have my main HD reformated thatnks to the several errors this thing cuased to my OS. On top of that Newegg won't take it back unless I can send it back in the orginal box. So make certain you save your box for this hunk of junk as you will most likely will need it.

Great price to efficiency. At 贫 promo price this is a must have upgrade. The totally free Acronis True Image download is excellent too. It's not SSD quickly but for the price per GB and efficiency you can't beat it. If it goes on sale again I'll purchase a second one for a RAID- setup and see how it does.

Arrived in excellent shape nicely packed , nice icepack cooling heatsink keeping the drive cool I cant justify the price . HD tach and ATTO benchmarks show that this drive is slower then my old seagate 7200.12in all but acess time . ATTO scores 121 mps read on the seagate but the raptor wont even break 120mps and the seagate costs a fraction of the cost of the raptor I got this drive on sale so no so bad but had I paid full price I would have been realy disapointed

I normally install windows from a USB key which cuts the time necessary by more than half because the data transfer rate is considerably higher. With this drive, i installed from a dvd and it went just as fast. 'nuff stated. none Some say that they can hear a high pitched whining whilst the drive is spinning. mine has been silent therefore far.

- Quick- Stays cool (stays at ambient temps) - None I have had this item running in a pc that is left on quite significantly 24ǝ for over a year and in no way had any complications with it. Though, I do have a WD Caviar Black 1TB that I purchased at the similar time and it has failed (not confident what to do with it now). Very pleased with my VelociRaptor purchase.

-Fast drives got two of these on a RAID , access times wonderful. I am not working with my on-board raid controller. I am employing a Rocket Raid 620 ƒx SATA 3. Ports) boy the read, write times can't recall right now but had been in the 160+MB/sec for write times and 220+ MB/sec read times. Keep in mind that it was my Rocket Raid 620 which is a PCi x1 Card with 2x SATA three. Ports. -Some controllers drop these drives, I guess firmware issues... as some have been complaining. Run these drives in AHCi and it'll always work, RAID---unique concern get a dedicated RAID controller....read my pro's. none, actually just good performance for the most part. Drives tend to make weird noises often, not all but who cares they have a five year warranty...just make certain to do weekly backups if your doing a RAID ...SPEED, PERFORMANCE, need to have RAID 1---who would be crazy enough to do it on these 10K drives...?, LOL!

-10k RPM is awesome for a performance setup-Less costly than SSD-Longer life than SSD-Particularly reliable and resistant to performance degradation from heat or shock-Fastest performance compared to other HDDs of the exact same range -A tad far more high-priced than other brands for comparable listed specifications (you get reliability and life expectancy with WD)-300GB is on the smaller end for nowadays's computers (primary use as boot/OS/programs drive - use one more for storage purposes) Following owning 3 WD (all 3 are 10k rpm - which are all nonetheless working btw - total 9 years ㅂ hours a day) and working with numerous Seagate and Maxtor, I've never had a WD die, but have seen countless other brands bite it right after 1-2 years. A friend of mine even put 1 of their HDDs to testament and slapped a 10lb speaker magnet on it. It worked perfectly fine afterwards. I'm glad they finally began a SSD line-up, WD is second to none! (Okay, possibly only to Mushkin - I ɛ them too.)

This drive is faster than your average HDD. I can get from off to functioning desktop in Win7 x64 Pro about 10 seconds quicker than with a WD Black Ɨ.2k RPM) drive I'm now using as storage.Gets you closer to SSD speeds without their drawbacks such as high cost (at lease for the time becoming) and permanent slowdowns over time. Not even close to SSD speeds. But as stated it is a significant improvement over conventional HDDs.I only purchased given that it had a very very good sale on it at the time. I have been impressed with the performance so far, but not so significantly that I'd have bought it at full price. Just an FYI : I was curious to see if the heatsink could be removed to convert this into a two.5" form factor drive. It is in fact NOT removable. Just in case you had been curious. :)

Cons: Little bit small for current hard drives.Bit pricey.

Pros: Very fast.Doesn't get hot.Not noisy at all.

This is a great product for people who who don't want to pay the extra coin for a SSD, but want a little extra speed. It is expensive, and a little bit small, but for a first drive for operating system and maybe some popular games it works great. I'll probably pick up a cheap standard drive for media.
