Comment:
Mechanical has a longer lifespan SSD is more quickly I see alot of critiques that say... "save your money and purchase a SSD." Umm.... i'm confused.... this drive is 贶 at present... a 300GB SSD is about 躔 at the moment.... more than twice the price tag... practically three occasions the price tag... Yes, SSD is faster... BUT they die... yes... they dont have the lifespan of a mechanical HDD... so... which is far better? 躔 for a more quickly 300gb with a shorter lifespan? or 贶 for a slower but longer lifespan... you make a decision.

Super quickly high end storage. Excellent efficiency. Back plane prepared for use in servers/storage arrays none Place these in my db read cluster, four machines, 4 drives per box, mdadm raid10. Sustained read/write iops about 100ቺ @ a throughput of 1000K/s / 500K/s per disk. Largely random read, and sequential writes, overall perfomance is 400ኘ iops and 4M/s / 1M/s

Does all nicely. I have two. The older died and I replaced with this. I suppose I really should be moving to Solid State, but the bigger size storage are of course nevertheless pricey and I like two internal hard drives at 300gb every single. Someday I'll get with it though.

I presently have four of these drives in a RAID five. Been employing for about a year. So far they are operating great! The next greatest point IMO to SSD drives.Found on 12Ǜ, Newegg was promoting them for ๳. I believed this was a ideal chance to acquire another for a spare incase one particular failed in the array. I wouldn't be in a position to make the acquire till the following day. My luck the value went back up. Errr! Rates here appear to always be far better than every person else. I just have undesirable luck. Newegg, please bring back the discounted price tag, fairly please! It's Christmas time! A time to be giving. Pricey

It's quick...it's quiet...runs cool... it can't make pancakes I bought this drive to replace a WD 1TB black thinking I could get my Win Exp over five.9. Really frankly, I didn't see any genuine raise in efficiency, and either did Windows 7 Pro. Quickly PricyNot 1TB ;-)Solid-state could be a far better option. I've tried it both ways - RAID with a number of 7200 RPM drives, and WD Raptor 10k. Don't fool your self - IMO - RAID w some 7200s will never be equivalent to a single 10k. Short of acquiring a dedicated RAID controller, you're stuck with either BIOS fakeRAID or OS raid. Seriously, don't even Assume about going to BIOS fakeRAID route - there is a cause that difficult disks are designed to use DMA (direct memory access) for information transfer rather than PIO (programmed input output) as you will be with BIOS raid. Maybe my choice of motherboards has just not been the greatest, but its difficult to believe that utilizing a CPU as a disk controller ever tends to make sense.OS-level raid will do better, but doesn't appear to match a 10k. Use RAID for reliability, not efficiency. With the cost of solid-states, you may possibly assume about that rather of a Raptor.

it operates, both of them. not a con seriously perhaps my more than blown expectations. absolutely nothing to rave about. coming from ordinary 7200, i don't notice any improvement in boot speed nor in application load speed. it doesn't feel like games (on second raptor) load any more rapidly either. once more, maybe i expected to substantially, but i uncover these to be not seriously considerably much more exciting hardrives. i absolutely don't really feel price premium paid for these got me anything.but they do perform perfectly.

Windows error logs indicates negative blocks. HD tach indicated componet error. You would assume that QC would at least do a intelligent verify just before shipping out

Quite sleek and silent Tricky drive and went in without any concerns or flaws. decently priced 300gb 10k rpm drive. It's SATA-3gb/s interface sadly doesn't enable it to perform as somebody may possibly feel when they're acquiring it. (like me) while I am not a tech specialist and possibly don't know all the ins and outs, this tricky drive performs at the similar data transfer rates as my 7200rpm 750gb WD...If i were to know that when deciding on I would of just went with a 7200rpm saved some money and gained some additional storage... Id say go with a SSD boot drive and pop a TB 7200rpm difficult drive for storage to everyone else who may be creating a new Computer Rig!!

Personal a number of Raptors and VelociRaptors, with virtually all bought by way of Newegg. I will acknowledge that I'm a RAIDed Raptor fanboy though I comprehend that SSDs are lurking in the wings. A lot more than value, this whole TRIM small business with the SSDs bothers me; i.e., are SSDs actually prepared for prime time or are we clients undertaking the beta testing? None. I have begun to notice improved Newegg packing, and I'm thrilled to see it! The VRs were incredibly well packaged - perfectly, in fact.Newegg had genuinely begun to let its usual fine packing standards go south for a couple months recently. I received a motherboard with much less packing than I coulda gotten at Major Lots.

None? Couldn't see much of a speed difference amongst this and an ordinary 7,200rpm HDD... When it worked. Here I go turning back my Ūk+ rig, using this as my OS HDD and hoping for the HDD that has just about all my documents, photographs, music, and so on... to operate just like it should. Nothing at all. The desktop won't detect it in any way, shape or form. The tricky drive will not budge, won't spin, no nothing at all. Tried utilizing it as an external HDD with my laptop. No luck whatsoever. Tried calling the people at Western Digital, entirely useless customer service. Don't actually care much for an exchange for the identical item. All I cared about was my data. Lesson learned for not backing it up in a extended time. Will definitely get a SSD next.

Lets just be fair. SSD is insanely quickly, but it's also unreliable and immorally high-priced. This is a excellent compromise. Paired with i3-540, 4GBs and Gigabyte h55, its less than 30 seconds from power on to desktop (OS/X). Impressive. Not as quickly as SSD, I guess.

Picked 2 up on holiday deals when they had been under 贄. Amazing distinction from a single 7200rpm drive. With 600GB of space, I can hold all games, apps, music, and OS with room to spare. I was on the fence about SSD, as it nonetheless appears to be enhancing. Noticeable sound enhance with 2x10k rpm drives coming from one particular 1x7200rpm. Not unbearable on the other hand, as I nearly constantly have music on or headphones even though gaming. Not SSD. I am completely content material with my RAID set up correct now. A amazing option to SSD. I have 1 120mm fan on them, and temps are solid. They were a steal through holiday!

- It doesn't expense practically as much as a SSD- It is a slight improvement more than most 7200 RPM drives.- It runs cool and quiet. I wonder if users who complain about noise/heat have the issue install upside down. It tends to make a tiny bit of noise throughout boot-up, but then its silent. It never ever gets hot either. - Its genuinely not considerably more quickly than my 7200 RPM drive. I was expecting a huge efficiency boost but the only noticeable difference is about ten seconds off my boot time. That's good and every little thing, but my game load occasions barely improved. I was expecting much more... Despite its negligible speed raise, I'm pleased with it. Its cool, quiet and responsive. I got it on sale (๖ off) and a bundle deal (another ฮ off) so it was 贄 less costly than regular. Now if I'd paid full retail, I don't believe I would be as satisfied.Ordered it on cyber Monday, delivered by UPS on Friday. Newegg Rules!

I have not tried cutting edge NAND storage yet, so my assessment is not biased by me being spoiled from SSD encounter. These are swift. Two of these striped in RAID strategy lower-finish SSD speeds in some elements. Getting a hard drive, tried and true technology, set up fast and hassle-totally free. 5-year warranty from Western Digital. Enterprise Storage. This is what you want. I only have one. Wish I had purchased two when these were ๳ at the black friday event but oh properly. When I go RAID with yet another a single it will be on a hardware RAID controller, none of that software mainboard stuff.
