Excellent drive. If you can get it for sub-$100, buy one. Great for using as a backup drive, and a bit faster than expected for a Green drive. Just make sure to have a spare SATA cable as this is an OEM package! |

Got two of these drives in a Netgear ReadyNas for two months. Currently setup in mirror raid.They are quiet and since I don't need high performance for storage they do exactly what they are supposed to do. Would purshase again, would recomment high capacity low performance storage usage. |

I got this drive to put in a HP Compaq 4000 SFF to serve as a backup drive for Windows Home Server 2011. This computer is on 24/7 and I have had no problems at all with this drive and my other WD drives. It does its job. |

Waited almost a year for the price of this drive to come back down again. When it hit the 100$ mark, I bought it. I was in no hurry because I already own another one, this is for backup, which is the best drive you can find for this price!No problem so far with the first one after over a year and a half and this new one looks good too! |

I own 6 of these, all internal drives and four of them in a WHS, the other two in an office desktop.I've had two and as of this week, three replaced through WD RMA process.They never run hotter than 37 degrees C but still they start having data inconsistencies or damaged sectors after 1 to 2 years of use. The last one held up for approx 450 days and then the data inconsistencies started resulting in windows prompting me to replace the hard drive asap.The current ones in use in the WHS have between 300 and 800 days on them so it's almost a little hit and miss. They either last a while, i.e. few years, or a yearish. All of the drives have about 3-400 days on them except one with 800+ days on it. My WD blue drives have as much as 1400+ days on them without as much as a hick-up. Haven't been as lucky with these WD Greens. Cudos to WD though, the RMA process is fairly painless and they've replaced all bad ones so far. |

Purchased this drive about an year ago and it failed on me. Windows would stop recognizing it, I scanned the drive and it detected bad sectors. Have sinced RMA'd it and WD sent me a new one. I used to be a big supporter of WD hard drives. Now not so much. I would give this product a single star out of 5 but I forgot my OrderID. |

I bought this for use as an external storage media. It's probably one of the best dollars/space ratios with Western Digital reliability you can find. I'd get another one but I think I have all the storage capability I'd need for awhile. As it's a green drive I'd probably just recommend it for storage and not for performance...Don't forget to format it when you receive it, I plugged it in and scratched my head as to why it hasn't shown up in Windows once my enclosure apparatus was set up. Go to disk manager through the control panel (the hard drive won't pop up at first). |

I won't buy any other brands but western digital. I am a computer technician and I seen so many seagate, and hitachi hard drives fail. Very rarely I will see a western digital hard drive fail.These drives are the best for putting your data on. I wouldn't recommend putting your operating system on this drive.The price of hard drives are still way to high. I remember paying 69.99 for the same drive a year ago! I was going to buy another 2 hard drives and make a raid 6 array but, I guess a raid 5 will have to do for now until the price go down.Overall these drives are awesome but, I'm giving it a 4 star because of the price. |
