These make great storage drives for media. I use two of them for video, photo and music storage and they work great the Windows Home Server box I set up. These probably wouldn't be the best for gaming or boot discs though - the WD Blacks are better suited for that if not using an SSD. |

Very good drive if you're looking for storing data on it. Though there was a flood in Thailand which caused the hard drive prices to ramp up in price, the space that you get with one of these drives make it the ultimate library drive. If you're looking for a cheaper way to get a lot of space and keep your OS on it, i would suggest getting the blues instead. though i am running my OS off of the green drive, there are point where the hard drive seems like it's taking a long time to load one game. Other than that, if you're using it for what it was intended for, you should not be disappointed! |

To see the boxing day pricing, especially post-flooding pricing was just too good to pass up. Provides a large amount of storage for backups on the cheap.It is slow as molasses, but when you only spend 70$, you can't expect the moon.4 Stars for good capacity, but poor performance restricting it to infrequently used storage and backup type tasks. |

I bought this to replace a 750 gig drive that just died. I am replacing a 5400 rmp drive, so speed was not increased.I used a SSD for my os, so this large piece of storage goes perfectly with my system.As far as moving data around....from SSD to this new drive, 90 gigs in 48 minutes. From another 5400 rpm drive, 660 gigs in 2 hours 10 minutes.I do NOT recommend this for a primary drive, do not install your operating system on it, get a smaller and faster drive for that purpose, either a SSD or at least a 7200 rpm drive.I'd recommend this drive to anyone who wants to have more storage space. For the price, 134.99 on sale, it's a deal. |

I bought it because of the price tag and I was using a 400gb WD and was always running out of room. Now the size and price are great it is rather slow at moving files and I've had issues with lag (blue spinning circle, drive wurrs all activity pauses for 4-7 seconds then resumes after double clicking sound). I'm switching my OS drive to Velociraptor 600gb (so small!) HDD for improved performance for PC gaming. This will still be used as my storage HDD and would say it is okay for a storage drive. I had many WD20EADS and WD20EARS models fail within weeks of getting them, this EARX model has been fairly good so far.Hpefully I will be able to trust my data on it, and won't have to resort to the trusted Caviar Blacks for storage.The SATA III interface is a gimmick, it doesn't even saturate SATA II speeds. |

great for storing all your files that aren't used that often. i bought two of these, one in my pc and one i use as an external hard drive. shuts off when not in use for a long time so that's a plus - saving energy!
