Good for Windows 7 Ultimate, This tricky drive is quiet and flawless. Downloading and uploading 10 factors at a time is a breeze, I have only four gigs of DDROCZ SLI 2048MB PC16000 DDR3 2000MHz Memory and a 775 Q6600, Cool Master HAF 832 and two BFG 9800+ overclocked-Fans everywhere (Ozzy Guidelines)...but a strong system built around this tough drive to carry out effectively. None It is the nosiest drive I have ever purchased from Western Digital. It is SLOWER than my old WD 1TB 32mb cache drive. I can hear it searching for and clunking and operating to the edge! I can even hear it spinning up and it sound off balance. I'm guessing I just got a poor one particular, but apparently Western Digital does NOT have the exact same Excellent Manage that they employed to. It already has a bad sector as well! It's funny how it worked with minimal noise ideal up till the 30 day cut off for RMA, so now I'm stuck with a dying drive I can\'t return... |

Really quiet, incredibly high capacity drives. Two of 3 have failed without warning, failed S.M.A.R.T. command, not recognizable by bios, acronis or WD Lifeguard software. Newegg outstanding as usual. WD, not so much. Replacement is a recertified drive, 50% have failed within a month. Every time, have to pay UPS return. |

Cool, quiet, good capacity for the cash. None I've read several comments indicating several or all of their drives arrived DOA. I had genuinely poor difficulties, too, but I have to emphasize; I discovered the problems were all mine.I had 4 poor drives in a row such as three I received straight from Western Digital. Their tech help tried to be useful, but I'm disappointed they never enquired about my personal computer system and never asked no matter whether I had updated my drivers.When I checked my drivers working with the Drivers tab from the Windows Properties box, Windows reports my drivers were current. Based on that, I had declared four drives in a row to be bad.That produced me suspicious and I began searching and found other users of significant drives from competing producers were reporting their drives failed to format at exactly the similar sector number where my failures began.Then I KNEW it was my program and not the drives. Simple to install following online directions. No want to download anything...operates natively with Vista. I chose this 1.5TB Caviar drive more than the 1TB version for two main reasons: the 64MB cache, and the StableTrac. Thought to be obtaining the RE4 more than the Caviar but felt the value premium wasn't worth the additional expense, plus would have had to get its 2TB drive for the exact same attributes as this 1.5TB drive. Ran Vista's checkdisk and right after about 2 hours the result was no errors. Newegg's value/value ($$/TB) on this 1.5TB drive is superior than either the very same Caviar 2TB or 1TB drives. IMHO, this drive is the best value. None My technologically astute brother-in-law (read: geek) suggested me to get a second hard drive solely for my HD video editing even though my boot drive wasn't even 1Ǚ complete. Apparently, the fast speed and throughput of this drive will make HD video editing smoother/faster/more dependable/etc. plus I will require the space for the gargantuan file sizes. He wasn't kidding. |

Huge capacity, incredibly quiet, was not DOA. Low value, cost-free and rapidly shipping. Does get a small warm in the external enclosure when I am on the road but cools fine inside my computer I use this HDD to retailer all of my H.264 video from my GoPro Hero HD camera and also use as my working folder when using Corel ProX3 and I have not had any matters at all. I have been trusting Western Digital to shop all of my memories and in pc builds for 9 years now and have yet to be let down. |

Large capacity for low price. Significant cache. I've owned it considering that June and it has been entirely reputable up to now. A tiny loud when in search of by way of lots of files, but I use it as a storage drive so this isn't substantially of an issue for me.It's also not as fast as expected. I tested it at 120MB/s when other individuals have reported over 150MB/s. It isn't even as rapid as my old 300GB boot drive, despite this drive's much greater density. Then again if I wanted speed I'd get a Raptor or SSD. I see a lot of reviews with low scores for this drive due to DOA or short term failures. I guess I was a single of the lucky ones. So far I've had no troubles with it and no regrets.
