Fired ideal up no issues what so ever. Not a correct 750 BG, but thats the distinction from how OS reads Difficult disks, not WD fault. Just letting folks know who don't know anything about hard drive space Wd> than all, still have a 80 GB tough drive from ten years go that still runs beautifully

Really rapidly for mechanical storagePlenty of space for all my apps and Win 7 installSo far so good - had it for 4 months and no troubles Loud. Wow, loud. Even mounted in a quiet case with rubber grommets, this thing is loud when seeking If I wasn't trying to record audio with a condenser microphone I don't feel the loud would bother me; it's the only way I know my Computer is on. :p

Cost and attributes of black caviar drive 2nd WD Black drive I have ordered from new egg in previous month that has failed Sensible status from the very first spin up. Initial 1 in no way could install any OS and WD Diagnostics could not repair anything. This a single was fixed by WD Diagnostics per plan and I was capable install Win7. Following doing updates, it has failed to boot, and Smart status is again failed The initially drive was RMAed with out any hassle but I paid for the return shipping, they didn't have any 500GB to replace it, so I was given a refund(out บ) I'll ask for totally free shipping when I RMA this one particular, and if they send me a refund I will almost certainly buy one thing else.

Lower failure rate than 1TB+ drives of any other brand I researched. Rapid enough for my requirements, and really quiet! 5 year warranty, and a 32MB cache is an order of magnitude above something I've owned previously! It could have expense just a small much less compared to the 1TB drives, but I'm not taking an egg off because of that. I waited six months before reviewing, just in case of failure. No complications whatsoever. This drive serves as boot & storage for a standard, non-gaming HTPC. There could be some out there who think that this drive is noisy, but not in my Lian-Li situation. I'm really pleased so far with this drive, and will continue to obtain WD drives as I have so numerous instances in the previous. None The drive was dead suitable out of the box. Acronis could not even recognize it to partitiion and format. Then I put OS CD in drive and that also failed to recognize the drive. I ought to say that Newegg has never ever sent me anything defective in all the years I have been constructing computers so I gave them a single egg. Immediately after explaining the problem to the client service rep they are sending me a prepaid shipping label, so all I'm out is some time which all of us retirees have pleny of.

Quiet, reputable (over a year of ownership so far), relatively speedy. none - I know there are considerably faster possibilities out there but this is very good for the cost. My next upgrade will be to SSD, but for OS/programs only. I plan to hold this drive for storage because I have had good good results with it.

Excellent spin speed, excellent read speed, fantastic write speed, fantastic information transfer in general. Quite easy install, was up and running within minutes of opening the anti-static bag. Was quite an Upgrade for me that was long overdue. Operating total SATA with 7200 RPM has been lengthy overdue :P Didn't come with mounting screws. Not worthy of knocking off an egg, but notable for if you are purchasing things currently, throw some mounting screws into your basket. Sadly I do not have any extras, and it is sitting in the bay loosely on the slide whilst I wait for my screws to arrive. As stated in the Cons section, make confident you have extra mounting screws for your bay slides. Other than that, I am impressed and satisfied with this piece.

The second a single worked. The very first a single worked for 15 minutes. I have generally bought Western Digital Drives. Possibly should have heeded the warnings on this one. The initial drive worked long sufficient to install Windows 7 and then died. The replacement seems OK. Regrettably I had to spend to send the bad one particular back to Newegg for a replacement.

None, there are no pros to shopping for a WD drive. Perhaps a tiny harsh, but so is the track record. I bought this drive in june 2010, it just died - it's february 2011 - following 7 months. the wd 1tb drive i had just before this died after 1 year 9 months. The 500GB USB drive i had about the same time that also died - right after a small below 6 months. It's not like i've been running any of these drives 24x7. What's the deal WD? Can you make a drive that lasts till it's warranty expires?

Very good cost, WD quality, ease of install. None. Upgraded from a 500GB 5400RPM drive to this 1 (was a 500GB WD Caviar Blue). Performance is marginally greater. Otherwise, just far more storage. Been employing WD drives for awhile and have come to adore their reliability. The instances when the drives have failed, their RMA procedure has been speedy and painless to me (Have had to replace two laptop drives in the final four years. By no means had a issue calling the warranty and obtaining a new a single.)

The drive quite quite for it's capacity. Fetches data pretty rapid too on my i7 custom construct with 6 GB memory. The cache may possibly turn out to be an situation in certain scenarios like if you open up a folder with lots of sub folders it will take an further couple of seconds to create the thumbnail view. But, that's no biggie. After four-five months, I started noticing the S.M.A.R.T. error. Created in Thailand Formatting, bad sector recovering does not help. Returned to WD. To their credit WD processed my advanced drive replacement more than night and shipped it inside 2 days. But, had to pay shipping fee for the return RMA. Considering the time, energy and expense, lost my profit on the deal.Don't feel WD is necessarily poor, but they have really serious good quality control troubles. The new one particular is created in Malaysia. I hope I don't have to go through yet another RMA cycle. It's just 3 days old now so will comment immediately after about 6 months. Shouldn't evaluation tricky drives within 1st month of buy. Give time to test out the HD, no matter what the brand is. :)

Didn't arrive DOA, has worked excellent so far, but we'll see if that lasts... 3Gb/s SATA. Windows efficiency index lowered to a 5.1 simply because of this, though all other marks are at or above 7.5. Hasn't been a enormous challenge, but its there. Good good quality, no hassles with install. None so far I just necessary to replace a drive that had run out of free of charge space. This one particular is not only bigger but has a bigger cache as effectively. Seems to work much more rapidly than my old a single. Excellent brand, I always buy Western Digital and I have not had any issues, so I will stick with them in the future.

Quick, reliable, and quiet(see other thoughts) none to get the most out of these drives switch from IDE Compatibility mode to AHCI. I have notice alot of people saying these drives are loud, most the time this is triggered by your case vibrating. You can get rubber dampeners that fit amongst your drive and case. These will virtually usually repair your tough drive/ case noise.

Arrived intact, no difficulties. Died abruptly soon after about six months. Won't spin up. RMA'd. Runs really quiet and cool now. Bought this to replace an old IDE drive that came with the Pc and mirrored it to the new drive. Fortunately, the old drive nonetheless operates (it's about 7 years old)...
