have applied quite a few of these drives in program builds for workplace computer systems. they are quiet, effective, and fast. Western Digital makes really very good tough drives. no real cons hear. out of about 7 drives, all have worked suitable out of the bag and are nonetheless operating strong on computer systems that run 24ǝ뤅.

Good Spending budget Drive. Replaced a drive that suffered head crash.Cost-free Shipping tends to make it superior. Installed 64 Windows 7 and runs fine, extremely quiet. It wasn't Absolutely free! This is the 5th Western Digital drive I've bought, all various sizes, but all Caviar. Have not had a single challenge with any one. As extended as they retain generating them like this, I'll continue to obtain them.

This worked perfectly as a cheap back up drive for my games, music, DvDs and various other media. Its more quickly than my 1 TB WD Green with 32mb Cache. It is a bare drive so it does not come with any cables or screws, this could be a pain for a person who dosen't have further screws handy.

Western Digital performs truly properly! none I've gone through other brands and many Western Digital difficult drives. WD worked best, so it's constantly my initially choice. To strengthen functionality, I got an 80gb WD drive for the program and other individuals (like this 250gb) for various programs and storage. They haven't failed yet.

The hard drive worked completely and installed with no any difficulty. NewEgg shipping is always phenomenal. I had the parts in hand when I required them. It is the only corporation that I do company with. I've looked at others, but keep coming back to NewEgg. none

I've purchased a lot of WD Caviar drives, both Black and Blue and have hardly ever had issues with them. These drives are worth buying, devoid of a doubt. No cons as to the drive. My complaint is with NewEgg packaging. I opened the shipping box and discovered a plain white box inside. When I opened that plain white box, I couldn't think my eyes. My really hard drive, packaged in the anti-static bag, was placed in a 9" wide piece of bubble wrap that didn't even completely envelop the drive. Due to regular transportation movement, the drive was dancing about the inside of the box and the bubble wrap was crumpled to the side. The packer didn't even bother to place some tape on the bubblewrap to attempt to hold it collectively. What's going on, NewEgg? I remember acquiring my drives in a tough plastic shell or a bubble-wrap pouch nice and snugly taped collectively. Or in a box, but floating thanks to the clamshells that held the drive in spot.Final point I expected was a tough drive thrown in a white box.

I have this drive in a dell desktop (stock). The drive is quiet and I suppose a decent quantity of space. Woah... SLOWNESS at its very best. But i cant dock any eggs from the solution because WD doesnt promote the drive to be rapidly. It naturally is slow due to the cache size on the drive. I do dock 1 egg, though, since the drive failed on me and had to get a replacement from Dell. The drive began to click after a year, and I tried to get all of my information off of it just before failure... but it was only a few minutes prior to it was dead absolutely. I lost about three months of data (emails included). The workstation the drive is in runs 24ǝ at work, even though not a lot of a load most of the day. But a uncomplicated editing of a wav file, touch up of a photo, or a VMware image dogs the program to its lowest (windows XP, 4 gigs of memory).

Not several pros to be provided other then a fantastic value here. Installed in Dell Dimension 3100 for a consumer and sent it out she calls back with blue screensDo a check on the drive and it fails the WD tests!I had a different new WD drive and installed it so far no troubles but I do notice a lot more noise lately from WD drives as the new one tends to make noticeable noise when compared to the Seagate I place into a new make this week.Maybe changing brands here? At least it has the warranty but a lot of added time reinstalling on the new drive once again!

Each and every rig I have ever built, be it for myself, loved ones, or buyers, have utilised, and will continue to use, Western Digital. See Other Thoughts Zero. My old personal computer was the only reported failure I have heard about from Western Digital in my builds. I had about a year's warning prior to it lastly died on me, more than adequate time for me to start out backing up and preparing myself to be with out a computer system momentarily at any second (hard drive seeker would tick additional and far more). That drive was 4 years old at time of death, and went by way of 4 moves, one particular of them long-distance.Other Western Digital drives are going on 6 years old, and customers I run into nonetheless say the computer is fine.Western Digital, Kingston, Gigabyte, and D-Hyperlink are 4 corporations that have failed to let me down, ever.

It operates well. I have not but noticed any difficulties. I am not truly a WD fan. I have had some concerns in the past and a lot of their drives are 30% far more costly then some of their counterparts that are arguably superior. I got this drive simply because of a incomparable combo deal with a discount and totally free shipping.Nevertheless, when not on sale and not element of a deal - you will pay for a name which doesn't imply all that a lot. I can't attest to how lengthy this drive will last. I just hope I won't get burned attempting to save a handful of dollars a year or two down the road.

Fantastic for a method that stays away from gaming (low cache). Web users and word processing computer systems, this is good for you. (Pro for you is that I paid 62.99 when I bought it). Kind of smaller for todays requirements. If you set up a LOT of high end games, and download music, AND have a lot of digital images, this may not be massive adequate for you. Also only 8mb cache. Get something with 32mb cache and your OS will thank you. Everybody appears to be listing their systems these days so right here it goes:RAIDMAX Scorpio case | Corsair 650w | Asus p6T mobo | Intel i7 920 (Quade-core @ 2.66GHz) | ZEROtherm core 92 heatsink w/fan | G.Ability DDR3 1600 3x1GB Gaming Memory (upgrading soon) | 2x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB 7200RPM 32mb Cache Hard drives | Asus 22x DVD burner | 2x EVGA Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 1GB DDR3 Video Cards operating in SLI | all in 1 memory card reader | Hanns-G 25" Widescreen LCD | Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Arrived quickly and worked for about 2 months. Dead soon after two months! I am seeing way also quite a few failed tough drives in the last couple of years. I've generally trusted Western Digital, but this is the 3 a single I've had to RMA in the final 6 months. What happened to producing a high quality solution? Hard drives should not fail in two months. In reality they shouldn't fail in 5 years when they're only utilised lightly in a household scenario! I don't know what brand to purchase anymore. Seagate has let me down. Maxtor has generally been junk. I've seen tons of Samsung failures from Dell machines. I'm running out of selections here!
