Low cost value for 1.five TB great reviews, I am hoping having 2 back ups will insure my info is under no circumstances lost once again. I have been burned already the top rated brands and they do not warranty the data on the drives and will extract the information for a couple of K. Numerous cheap Externals really should give me assurance my info will never be lost once more I hope I am getting a great product at a fantastic value not just a inexpensive Piece Of Sl-l&+ thank you New egg for getting a wonderful website to compare all goods and all the specs that I appear for.

Decent quantity of space for the pricing. Great for a small loved ones data backup. Quiet and sleek with only 3 factors on the case: power inlet, usb port, tiny white LED to let you know it's on. Nothing so far. Ever see space odyssey 2001? This thing is the monolith.

It's Western Digital - Trusted brandPrice for Size - below 贄 for 1.5TB? Wonderful deal.Preformatted for Windows - I'm on a Mac and I reformatted it in about 15 seconds. Actual accessible capacity is specifically 1.5TB.Speed - Transfers a GB in about 35 seconds. I haven't been spoiled by harddrive speeds so this is perfectly acceptable to me.Physical size - It's smaller than I expected. But that's a good factor.Noise level - This drive is almost silent. Definitely no sounds from this 1. Connectivity - It's only USB two. but that's what you get for such a excellent value. Not a issue. So far it has worked as expected. Only factor that could change my opinion would be, of course, if it crashed sometime in the close to future. But as of right now this is a great drive. Very recommended.

Superior cost. Large capacity. Seemed slow. Died soon after just a few days. Newegg is replacing it. Hopefully I'll have far better luck with the 2nd 1.

- Good, rugged casing.- 1" rubber edging wrapped about each ends of casing.- Run very quiet to my surprise.- 1.5TB External HDD for about ๠...can't beat that. - None, thus far. I bought two of these when Newegg ran them on sale sometime around the beginning of 2010. I have them set up on my Windows House Server and they have performed excellent. I bought a third 1 about a month ago so my mom would be in a position to back up all the files on her laptop. Thanks to the ten% discount Western Digital was operating, I got the third one of these negative boys for about ๠. In my opinion, that's amazing for a 1.5TB external HDD. Great job on a nice, big external HDD, Western Digital, and thanks to Newegg for super-quickly shipping and a different great deal.

Practically silent, Most of the time I don't notice any noise coming from the drive.Runs cool. Blinky light, but each external has 1 these days. This WD works like a dream. The drive is about a third full, after about three months with it, and nevertheless functions like day 1. Also note that with tough drives, it seldom ever matters what brand you select, most of the time negative luck is a more telling element when it comes to difficult drive failures. I've had just as substantially poor luck with WD as with a lot more expensive brands. Most of the poor evaluations given too hard drive producers are by those unlucky sufficient to have a dilemma, and I feel poor for them, but giving WD (or Seagate for that matter) a negative name simply because a reviewer occurred to be 1 of the unlucky ones is in poor taste.

Quiet and effortless to access. It looks nice on my desk alongside my two other external difficult drives. I didn't get an additional 1. Can't go incorrect with Western Digital. Had a 1TB Seagate external hard drive that died inside a week and had to replace... compared to that I've had a earlier external difficult drive from Western Digital and its been best for the past 5-6 years, and i still use it!

I have found most Western Digital drives to be dependable. I have several and like them. This unit did not operate out of the box. I could not transfer files to it. It did turn on. As soon as or twice my computer system recognized it but 4 times additional, my personal computer did not see it. Even the two times my pc saw the drive, I could not transfer files to it. NewEgg gave me a refund and I bought a 2TB WD drive instead. I have two 1 TB Western Digital external drives and 2 2TB external drives that operate perfectly. I have had all of them for about six months and hope for the finest in terms of their longevity. I have heard that the 1.5 TB WD drives have problems and identified that to be accurate even though I do have 1 other 1.five TB WD drive that is operating alright. I would say to stick with the 1 TB and 2 TB Western Digital drives. Also own a WD My Book that is too fussy with the added software but does function effectively. Yes, I am in the video enterprise therefore so many external drives.

Big and cheap! No prob with speed as it is USB. IF you want speed go esata. Plug in and go...so straightforward. IT looks wonderful with gloss on the side and a matt best and the light is on the back which is excellent. none People who complain about a power button should read the description. The drive powers down when your computer system sleeps.

affordable, well at lease the tough drive works Be advised that USB connection can quickly brake-off inside this sealed case enclosure. On my second use the connection fell into the case, after foolishly/temporarily moving vital data on to it. I had to void the warranty to retrieve the difficult drive (by the way it’s a Western Digital Caviar Green WD15EADS 1.5TB SATA). Though accidents occur, but warned, the micro 5pin connection is not secured to the case like the power connection, but rather in a redefinition of ingenious planned obsolesce, is loosely pressed onto thin bracket which is tack solder to circuit board.

Cost. You get what you pay for. No actual power buttonNo status light Had this drive for just over 1 MONTH. Failed to mount at all following that. Incredibly unreliable for anything in my opinion. No power button indicates you need to have to unplug it to genuinely turn it off, and no status light other than on the BACK of the unit. Was quite cautious about mounting and unmounting correctly and it failed anyway. Piece of trash. Remain away. Invest about บ or ฟ a lot more and get a better drive or develop your own with external enclosure. Replaced with Macally box and Segate Barracuda and am super pleased. And btw, Newegg was Wonderful about taking it back even past 30 day policy. Thanks Newegg! Enjoy you. Hate the drive.

Cons:Not portable. Set it and forget it

Pros:1.5TB of storage
Comment:
Having extra storage for those with notebooks can be done through the purchase of this unit. While I would rather build my own eHDD unit with an enclosure and an internal hard drive, for those less inclined users, these are great. This unit uses the green series drives, so writing and reading at the same time can be problematic, but overall, performance is good.

Low cost, big size. Ceased to function two minutes following power up. Received power but disk quit functioning. This was fairly annoying, mainly because I was going to use it to store a whole disk image, and now I have to wait longer. Bah.

Low cost and massive. Died following only a few days of actual use. Initially worked, then stopped getting recognized by 2 Vista machines and a Windows 7 machine, showing an uninitialized disk of 251 GB. The blue light in the enclosure flashes when then disk is spinning up and stops flashing when the disk thinks it's ready to be accessed. Present state is that, the blue light on the enclosure flashes forever and not even the uninitialized disk shows up. Now to try and get it replaced.

Price, warranty. Stopped working The drive stopped working soon after four months and only utilised it about 10 times to transfer my dvd collection to it. The great factor was that WD sent me a replacement mainly because it was under warranty and not only that, I had bought a 1.five tb and received a two tb. Good

Like the simple, clean appear. I like that the small LED indicator is on the back, so I don't have to see it in a dark room. Drive failed inside a day of use, brand new, perfect out of the box. Going to have to RMA it to Western Digital, and will likely receive a refurbished replacement for my new drive. Of the 3 WD HDDs I've purchased in the past couple years, two have failed and had to be returned for a replacement. Time to locate another brand for the RAID setup in my upcoming server create.
