Mega Capacity for a modest external drive. Enjoy that it only has a USB cable and does not require yet another power source.Excellent for me and my video collection None truly... the USB cable is a diverse connector from a usual micro USB connector. But this cable is about. NOKIA utilizes this cable for several phones which was a good surprise since i have a couple of Nokia Phones and thus have a handful of added cables for this drive now.. I decided to Benchmark this drive against the other WD drives i have...I have a 500GB WD blue in my Lenovo as the principal HDI have a 320GB WD blue in the ULTRABAY of my lenovoI have a 320GB WD blue in a USB enclosureI have the 1TB elements in a USB enclosureThe WD Blue 鸴GB) benchmarked 46.1 MB/sec (burst 61MB/sec ) this drive is in my Lenovo Comp. The WD Elements benchmarked 26.three MB/sec (burst 25.1 MB/sec) (USB)The WD Blue (USB drive) 鶀GB) Benchmarked 30.1 MB/sec (burst 26MB/sec) The WD Blue (ultrabay drive) 鶀GB) Benchmarked 46.8 MB/sec (burst 60MB/sec)This drive is a just a tiny bit slower than other USB drives.. If the HD would fit in the ultrabay of my Lenovo i'm willing to bet it would speed up a bit.. specifically offered the differences in speed comparing the ƒ) 320GB HD that i compared.General its a good drive for the dollars...

This is my initially external hard drive that I've ever bought and I'm amazed by how little it is. The style is easy and quite nice, matte finish on best and bottom so no fingerprints, but it is glossy on the sides, but that's no big deal. Size! 1TB is the largest two.five" hard drive size and it's brilliant for all my movies and tv shows and such that I can't fit onto the modest SSD that I got with my laptop. As this is the portable version you don't need to have an external power source which is great Speed is what you would expect from a usb two. drive, eh. I bought the Western Digital Challenging Carrying case with it and it fits perfectly inside of it, snug with no moving about when I shake the case.Would absolutely recommend this drive to everybody.

Stylish, little, quiet, portable. That's about all the nice things I can say about this drive. SLOW.Like, insanely slow. I dont know if I had a defective unit or what, but I couldnt even play MP3s off this drive without having my machine slowing up or the song stuttering throughout playback. Copy operations took forever. Like more than 2 hours to copy 40GB of data. Makes use of a less-frequent micro-usb connector versus mini-usb discovered on just about every single other drive. Not only that, but the drive itself has no SATA connector... in its spot, the micro-usb socket is soldered straight onto the drive controller board. So really should that USB socket ever break or come loose, you're out a drive. You can't put it into one more case or anything. Lastly it has a really bright and annoying activity light. I dont know if i had a negative unit or not. I didnt do sufficient research on this drive before shopping for it and I got stung. About the only factor this drive would be fantastic for is off-line storage, due to the fact apparently playing an MP3 off it is asking too much. The drive worked, but it was slow and it appears destined to fail in some manner ultimately, whether or not its the drive itself, the flimsy usb connector (did i mention the insane quantity of give the soldered micro-usb connector had? i could see an individual breaking it just attempting to plug in the cable) or dying of old age from waiting for it to finish writing or reading data. I returned it and got a competing manufacturer's item and had none of the troubles I've mentioned with that drive. This is just a poor item and is probably finest avoided.

For 2 months, the drive worked fantastic. The drive only worked for two months. This is my 3rd WD drive to "die" on me. The exact same thing happened to my friend's WD drive this weekend. If you can come across these drives inexpensive and don't care if the data is lost...go for it. Just purchase two and back it up. But, personally, I believe I will try some thing unique next time.

Works. Decent speed, super modest. No power cable. Some complain about the usb cable but it's not proprietary, it's micro. My Droid uses it so I rather like getting the additional cable handy. None so far Functions.

Functions fantastic with my WD Television. Significant capacity and not too slow. Excellent design, nice and simple but sophisticated seeking. The LED light on this factor is quite vibrant, sort of annoying..... and it's not the fastest drive in the world. It makes use of micro USB but that's not seriously a con, I have a number of cords lying around that will work with it. For the cost this is a good buy when it's on sale.

None WD doesn't keep up with driver updates (as windows service packs are rolled out), and this brought on my drive to cease operating effectively (it disapears from the system). This is the second external WD drive with this issue. I would not obtain yet another WD drive, as their Tech Support is incredibly restricted. I found that rebooting my external drive would reset the concern, even so, my programs that want to write to that drive have no way to reboot it.

Wonderful space, fantastic speeds, fantastic business. Western Digital has never let me down just before and I have several WD external HD's, portable & desktop. Like everybody else in these evaluations, I too am getting trouble with the USB connection. It is flimsy, but I didn't understand how negative it was till it arrived. My suggestion: If you want this challenging drive, plug it in and DONT MOVE IT!!! Even moving the EHD an inch or two, and it will disconnect.

Compact, simple set up install, and quickly on data collection. No Cons so far. The short cable that comes with the drive makes it awkward to locate a place to set the portable down. A longer cable would be advantageous.

This is a great device. I got one of these for my parents and they adore it, they are nto tech savvy and it's uncomplicated enough for them to use. I liked it so a lot I got 1 for myself. It plays each file I have tried, WMV, MOV, AVI, MKV, FLV and a lot more.... The thumbnail mode is cool, you can add images to your folders and it displays them while browsing. The interface is the greatest I have observed on any media player. The rapidly forward and rewind on thsi factor SUCKS, it's quite slow and does not speed up much as you go along. You can hit the "next" button to skip ahead 10 minutes but that's not all too beneficial. I wish I could keep pressing quickly forward to make it go quicker or some thing. That's actually my only complain.the remote is also incredibly tiny, but that's not really a con. I only had 1 file out of hundreds that would not play suitable, it was an MKV with very high bitrate encoding. I'm not going to complain because it plays almost everything else.

Excellent price, modest, USB Powered Micro-USB port appears to be loose and wont take to constant insert and eliminate... Its a great size for the dollars and USB powered so its wonderful for on the go, but the Micro-USB port doesn't appear able to withstand constant removal and insertion.

1TB sans power cable (huge plus for me when travelling)USB plug is snug and way much better than any of my other external difficult drives. It has small splines that keep it in location. n/a so far (owned for about a month) Some folks complain about lack of eSATA or the fact that the USB plug is not normal (on the drive finish, not the pc finish). Neither bother me in the slightest. You can't find a inexpensive 1TB portable hard drive. This is a quality offering and a good uncover.
