Has worked very nicely for more than a year now in my dual boot Win7/OSX10.6 Macbook model four,1. Very quiet, a bit faster than stock difficult drive, and keeps beneath 40C at load inside a macbook. Has undergone numerous writes and erasures since this macbook mitigates most of my data within my house micronetwork as I get pleasure from operating on it. You can in no way have adequate tricky drive space, seeking to move up to 640 or 750 now. Recording higher top quality audio can eat up space way rapidly Will make a fine external portable hard drive with a quality enclosure. Western Digital is my go to with OEM challenging drives. Occasionally a bit a lot more costly but an added five-15 bucks are way worth the safety of your information.

I utilized this as an upgrade for my PS3 once my 40GB HDD ran out of room. I've had it for a year and a half and I haven't had a single problem with it. None. Initial a single I got was a lemon and it (luckily) died inside the 1st 30 days so the warranty nevertheless covered it. Newegg was fantastic about covering it. Not worth taking an egg off for that.

Worked good for a small although. This drive was in an external enclosure when I purchased it. It began acting strange soon after about 6 months. It worked sometime, but most of the time it didn't function at all. It wouldn't show up in windows. Following about 14 months it stopped working at all. I known as WD to RMA the drive expecting to get a different drive. Right after all it has a three year warranty, right? Sorry! WD says it is regarded as an external drive and only has a 1 year warranty. Even even though it has a drive in the enclosure that has a three year warranty, I was denied. If a business delivers the bare drive with a three year warranty, the external drive (with the same drive in it) ought to have a 3 year warranty as well.

As an update to my overview from last January - nonetheless working perfectly 1 year in. Zero. I can't say anything poor about this drive - received from Newegg a year ago, replaced the 120GB drive that came with my Toshiba, and have been operating it each day ever given that with no matters. I'd do it once more in a heartbeat.

I've had this drive in a MacBook for about a year and a half now. Haven't had any complications this entire time, and it doesn't lead to as well significantly heat, or bring down the battery life. It even gets dropped whilst in my backpack sometimes, and has never lost any data. It dropped in price tag more than time? This was my 1st Western Digital drive that I really purchased instead of salvaging out of older computer systems. I was a bit skeptical due to the fact most the drives I acquired managed to fail immediately after some time, but I will admit they had been utilized and I don't know how a lot they had been abused. Figured I must give Western Digital a fair opportunity, glad I did.

Quite substantially everything. The additional few bucks for a WD drive more than Seagate is a no brainer. None at all. Runs slightly louder than the stock MacBook drive but I stopped noticing that soon after the first day and it's worth it for the 4X storage space. I have installed this in my personal and my girlfriends Late 2008 Unibody MacBooks. Been working excellent. Excellent drives.

Wonderful price tag, particularly quiet, runs extremely cool, practically as rapid as a 7200 RPM drive. Right after complete format - no undesirable sectors. None, zero, zilch. This the 2nd of this model I have purchased lately and am extremely pleased. Final one was for my Toshiba netbook primary drive and this one is for backups of that computer. Possibly I'm living in a dream world but am feeling really confidant appropriate now with the reliability and efficiency of these 2 drives keeping me going. Newegg rocks!!!

This is great drive. Its at the moment getting employed in my PS3 and immediately after a year and half its still going. none. Occasionally the drive locks up and my PS3 freezes I may possibly have to request a replacement from WD. Maintain in thoughts this following a year and a half of use, and I use my playstation for five or much more hours a day.

Cost-effective price tag, storage space, low battery consumption on laptop. On my MacBook Pro late 2007 model, I experienced 1-two seconds lagging on executing issues. This was most noticeable when I worked in Photoshop, and watching a video on YouTube and the sound would play fine, but the video would freeze for a second each and every 1 minute or so. The lagging was the most annoying point I ever seasoned on my computer and it was because of putting in this drive. Don't get me wrong, the drive is a stunning thing, but I assume if you install this on a Mac like my pc, it will make your Mac slow down. Nonetheless, if you use a utility referred to as "hdapm" it will speed up your drive, eliminating the lagging absolutely. Be warned that this might make your drive suck up much more battery life. Personally, I by no means experienced poorer battery life when performing this but every pc is diverse.

None. 2 out of 2 challenging drives arrived basically DOA. They worked for 30-45 minutes, and then kaput. I don't know whether Newegg is shopping for factory seconds, or damaging these drives in handling / shipping, but 2 out of two implies no far more challenging drives from Newegg for me.

Installed it in my PS3 perfectly. Took me a although cause my PS3 had to update to version 3.41 for the drive to format. the actual size is 450 GB not 500 GB. it's ok still large. if u playing HD videos off ur PS3 and they are 1 GB per esp., that's more than adequate. 300-400 esp. hell yea

its quiet, low energy and faster than expected, i get about 80MB/s copying and studying files from esata on a 790fx gd70 and a rosewill RX81US-HT-25A-BLK enclosure. dose not come with a jumper u can adjust the spin up speed to make it function greater as an external drive and to use beneath 4W peak to make it appropriate for a 1 usb port powered 2.5" enclosure, but u will need a jumper and it dose not come with a single.

This is possibly the most underrated drive on the industry nowadays. Its quiet, versatile and rapid! Even at 5400RPM, this drive outperforms many so-known as quicker drives. None. I have about a dozen of these drives operating in anything from laptops to file servers. Some are even getting applied in RAID setups, so I retain 1 or two spares in my desk drawer just in case. Some may possibly be searching at larger drives, but the 2.five" 1TB drives are just also slow.
