its ok but quality not best
Comment:
I had it for about a year now, I put it in my Macbook Pro and now it has a slight humming to it. It is quite annoying if you ask me. It worked fine for the first year atleast.

Warning :Second time WD lets me down
Comment:
Warning: This drive has a spin down feature that cannot be disabled. After about 10 min the drive gets lazy and when you launch an app, there's a slight delay. Maybe OK for some folks but for a DJ laptop, those Milli seconds are hours and freezes the whole program. No good for a music laptop. Until l figure out how to keep this thing awake, does not matter that it is 5400, its sleeps anyway. Yes, all power saving features are disabled on the laptop. Haven t had good luck with WD lately. NO more WD.

Cons: none

Pros: works great, fast as 7200rpm Seagate, quiet
Comment:
Works great, it's as fast as a 7200rpm Seagate, quiet and doesn't heat up my laptop. I use it as a second hard drive, in a CD/DVD caddy. I can't think of anything bad about it. I dropped it once, it fell on the carpet from the desk.. Ran full diagnostics, no problems with the drive..

Runs fast, quiet
Comment:
Bought 2 of these - one for a netbook and 1 for an external enclosure. Unlike the old Hitachi hd in my netbook, this drive doesn't make any of the normal loud metallic sounds when the hd is seeking and loading data from the drive. It makes a click sound -that's normal- when the stylus moves to and from the rest position though. One thing that bothers me is that this drive should have a user programmable timer to determine the idle time length before it rests the stylus and turns off the motor. As it is now, it stops and starts too much and that unnecessarily adds additional wear and tear.

Pros:- Great on sale price- Amazing amount of storage

I bought this during the surprise sale for a great price, but unfortunately the drive has trouble spinning at certain angles. I'm currently in the process of an RMA with NCIX. I will add more stars when I get a working drive.

Pros:Quiet and fast

Got it for $80 during the a Surprise Sale. It replaced a Seagate 120GB drive in a Dell laptop, and it now runs much faster, as one would expect from the higher density platters. Also very quiet too.

Cons:None so far.

Pros:Large amount of storage in a small form, reasonably priced.
Comment:
Got this item to boost the storage space in a PS3, and going from 80GB, up to 500GB definitely gets the job done! Good points:- Large storage in a very small form.- Fits perfectly in a PS3, and works great there.- Reasonably priced, comparatively speaking, at least when either on sale, or pricematched. If you need more storage space in a PS3, or, of course, a laptop/notebook, this is an excellent choice.

Western Digital Scopio Blue 500GB 2.5" 5400RPM SATA 3Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:None

Pros:Low power consumptionIncreased my laptop battery life by 25% (1 hour)Good price got it on a surprise special for $89.
Comment:
This drive replaced a Hitachi 60GB 7200prm drive in my laptop. I used to get 3 hours of battery life but since replacing the hard drive with this one I get 4 hours of batty life. Going from a 7200rpm to a 5400rpm did not have any noticable impact on performance. Noise levels are the same as my 7200rpm, except during seeks the 7200rpm is louder. Heat levels are about the same as well. This drive produces a very slight vibration throughout the laptop but it is not enough for me to notice it 99% of the time. Very good drive.***UPDATE***Upon further use, my battery life has unfortunately gone back to it former 3 hour life. This review was modfied by poster @ 09-16-09 02:50 PM

Western Digital Scopio Blue 500GB 2.5" 5400RPM SATA 3Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive - OEM
Cons:More heat dissipation

Pros:Larger and good performance
Comment:
First I was looking for a larger drive for my notebook. The largest at this time was 500G. Although I purchased this before the question in the forum "Would this fit in a Macbook Pro?" ... I did look at some of the same urls mentioned in that forum thread. Essentially it came down to a Seagate 7200rpm or WD 5400rpm. The warranties are the same at 3 years. The power consumption of the WD is almost the same as the Seagate. In terms of performance, I considered WD is compariable to the Seagate. So it basically comes down to price. With the WD on sale below $100, it was a no brainer. If the prices were the same, I may have gone with the Seagate. So far, I am pleased with the WD.Although I haven't done any benchmarks, the drive performance seems "snappy" :-) . For some of the IO things that I do, they were faster than doing it on a desktop with a faster processor and older Seagate 3.5" 7200rpm SATA drives... so I am happy. So compared to the drive it replaced, it is just as quiet with better performance but with more heat dissipation. Put this in a Vantec CX enclosure and it works great. Only requires a single USB. It's whisper quiet (as most notebook drives are). Would also work well in a PS3 as well. Highly recommended.

Super easy installation into my PS3. The PS3 Formatted the drive without any problems. It's quick, quiet and had a great $99 price at the time of purchase. So far everything is working great on it, and it's turned my PS3 into the best media server around.PS3 formats the drive itself to 465GB. Can't wait to pick another up for my Macbook (White)

Perfect for PS3!
Comment:
I got this drive for my PS3. Although you lose nearly 100GB for the PS3's crazy encriypted file system and, if you have a newer PS3, the majoraty of the operating system is stored on the HDD. Besides that, this drive is perfect! Plenty of space for game data, downloaded games, music, videos, and photos.

To answer the question about the 465 GB free space, remember that a KB is not really 1000 bytes but rather 1024 bytes. By extension, a GB is not 1,000,000,000 bytes; it is actually 1,073,741,825 bytes. Often, manufacturers will refer to a drive's size by simply moving the decimal point rather than doing the actual arithmetic. By this, a drive with a capacity of 500,000,000,000 bytes will be advertised as a 500-GB drive. However, when you put it into your system, your system divides that total capacity in bytes by the actual 1,073,741,825 bytes contained in a true GB. This results in your system displaying 465 GB as the capacity rather than the 500 GB the manufacturer advertised.

It's called a recovery partition, though your you can't access it in your ps3 for some reasons. It's like when you upgrade the HD in your laptop it shows so many gigs missing.

Cons:Runs rather hot - up to 45C when running Windows XP Pro

Pros:Massive storage for such a tiny space.Decently fast in operation - HD Tune puts it at an average of 60 MB/sNo noticeable increase in noise or vibration from the stock Hitachi 120GB

I purchased this drive when I was faced with a travel home without the ability to transport my desktop so I figured it was a great time to upgrade my Macbook Pro so I would still have access to my games. The installation was a pain but that is a result of my notebook choice and not the drive. The drive is noticeably faster than the stock drive.Overall for anyone who is looking for a healthy boost in storage or performance to their notebook or SFF desktop this is a recommended drive.

Works perfectly in my PlayStation 3. Turned my 80GB system into a 500GB. Beyond the extra storage that will take me until probably PlayStation 4 comes out to use, the data transfer is also faster than the standard drive Sony gives you. Buy it with a hard drive enclosure, and you can use the original PlayStation 3 hard drive to back up all your data. I highly recommend this drive to anyone looking to upgrade their PS3.

I bought this drive for my new Macbook Pro in Nov '08 and absolutely love it. It's nearly silent and every bit as quick as the 7200RPM 250GB drive it replaced. If your looking for a solid 500GB notebook drive, this is definitely a great option!
