Can't go wrong for the space and cost for Notebook. I have purchased it a week ago and it serving me very well... This small bit slower then the stock but not a important... RPM - 200 implies - overall performance. If you need to have space like me, you should go for it... at the end it is WD Noting seriously... just a bit slow... nicely, I knew it when i purchased trigger of the low RPM... you sacrifice performance for space... if you want both, go for big bucks...

This drive was a a lot necessary upgrade for my Mid 2009 MacBook Pro. The drive fits in properly and seems to be the similar speed as the 500GB 5400RPM Fujitsu drive that the MacBook came with. Drive is a very tight fit due to the 12mm drive height.

Western Digital, 1TB capacityExcellent for external storage if your external bay accommodates the odd size.See CONS **WARNING about thickness ***Warning to BuyersThis drive is thicker than the typical normal laptop drivesStandard drives are 9.5mm thick. This one is 12.5mm AND WILL NOT fit in a lot of laptops. The drive would have worked nicely, if it had been the regular size of 9.5mm thick. This does not fit in a Dell XPS 1330 Laptop.

Fantastic to have the awesome capacity and the drive appears to be extremely dependable and fairly. No issues whatsoever. Fits in my Late 2009 MacBook Pro 17" with certainly no difficulties. SLOW, SLOW, SLOW!!! I replaced a Seagate 7200 RPM, 16mb cache, 512 GB drive with this and there is a big difference in performance. This drive is Extremely slow. Otherwise, no other Cons. I enjoy the capacity but I use my personal computer 8 to 10 hours per day and the slow speed of this drive is genuinely irritating. I was applied to the snappy efficiency of my 512 GB drive and I believed the denser capacity of the WD 1gb drive would make up for it only getting 5200 RPM but the small cache and apparently slow seek occasions are a big impact.I will adjust this drive out the instant one thing more rapidly hits the market place and I'm seriously thinking about going back to my Much more quickly 512 GB drive and living with a smaller drive for now.If you absolutely have to have 1GB then the only two choices are the WD and the Hitachi and both are incredibly slow drives. Stick with a quickly 512gb otherwise.

Huge capacity, installed with no any issues in mid 2009 MBP, and newegg unique ฟ off! HDD does not pull anymore than the old hitachi 250gb so the battery life still remains the same, and quiet. No Issues so far. The HDD is a little thicker so buyer be aware of what your getting in to.

Fits in 1 of the drive bays in an Asus G51J notebook (check ahead of buying!). Awesome capacity. I suppose it's a little slower to transfer files but if you just need capacity for media files/backup, it's not seriously a con. New item - appears to be acquiring less costly by the week. Wait a bit if you want to save a couple of bucks.

It does trigger the front edge of the case to lift a fraction of a millimeter, but it hasn't had any issues and all the screws still fit back in.

Spend attention to the Specs of the drive. Being the 1st laptop drive I've upgraded I didn't assume space was an problem with these. This will not fit into a Lenovo y550P it's about 1ቬ" too thick, but it will fit in a Toshiba Sattelite with no complications.Fortunately I function with a guy that required an HD upgrade so I sold it to him.I'm currently transfering the program more than but appears superior so far I ordered 2 laptop drives. Newegg's shipping individuals put each drives together then bubble wrapped them. They need to have separated the drives with a layer of either bubblewrap or the white insulating stuff to avoid rattling together. Fortunately they made it ok. Very first complaint I've ever had against Newegg.

First 1TB 2.5" HDD. Plenty of space, even if a little slow.WD's RMA approach seems to be really good (hence the 2nd egg). Any challenging drive that has issues immediately after a month doesn't bode well. I began having key slowdowns - drive transfer speed would drop to KB/s and the computer would appear to freeze. I checked the Smart status and identified several warnings for IDs 05, C4, and C5, which point to a lot of poor sectors.

Space, ㅦMBps transfer speed more than 1Gbps network 5200-rpm noticeably slower than 5400-rpm If your utilized to a 7200-rpm HHD or a SSD, you will definitely be disappointed at the speed. For me, it was toss in between sacraficing speed or getting more space. Certainly, I chose the latter. It fits tightly in a Fujitsu T4400 tablet pc. My program now hangs far more often than with OEM Fujitsu 5400-rpm HDD but I have the space. I get pleasure from the size but the lag this drive causes on my system is becoming annoying. Every day I additional and far more am beginning to regret this obtain. It could make more sense to location this drive in a USB enclosure and move on to a 7200rpm drive or SSD.

New drive is silent, unlike the 500GB Scorpio Blue (clicks from heads parking all the time). The 5200rpm speed is more than Three platters....so it's effective speed is fundamentally equal to a 7200rpm drive with two platters. Absolutely nothing I can assume of at this point. It's not an SSD. lol. See this thread proving the 12.5mm height DOES function in unibody Macbooks and Macbook Pros: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t

Huge capacity, install was a breeze, fits in 15" Unibody MacBook Pro like a CHAMP, OS X install went with no a hitch, it looks pretty, and it impressed my pals. It's not free of charge. Also, it's only 5400RPM, could've done greater, but for freakin' 1TB of storage, it's nicely worth the "sacrifice." :] Note: for installation in Unibody Macbook Pro's, you will need a torx screwdriver to remove the 4 pins from the old challenging drive. These pins are two on a side, and they're what holds the difficult drive into the MacBook case; with no them, the challenging drive can shift around, which is no bueno.I had a 320GB difficult drive ahead of, which had about 7GB of totally free space, so this new drive gives me A lot of breathing room for HD videos and music and pictures. (I do a lot of editing), and now I won't have to constantly drag stuff more than to my external drive.

Fitting 1 TB is this physical format is outstanding. Thanks to all the people who acquire these item and then return it because it won't fit their machines, I got this new drive at an open box price. 12.5mm format is too huge for some machines. It fits my enclosure. I'm happy with that.Slow? Not to me. If you want a faster drive acquire an SSD. This one is all about tiny size and big storage with a modest sacrifice in speed. I picked this up as a returned item for ๬ with shipping. Don't be afraid to get one of these as "Open Box" due to the fact lots of men and women forget to check to see if this 12.5mm thick drive will fit in their machines, then locate out it won't fit and return a perfectly excellent difficult drive. Quite a few machines can take only a 9.5mm drive. Save income, get one of these "Open Box" with out fear. I'm super pleased to get 1 at this cost. It saved me almost ุ. Price for new drive at present is 贬, but I've seen these for sale for 贘. If I see one more one at that cost I'll acquire it.I put this is a Roswell Aluminum Firewire 800 enclosure. That enclosure was costly, but I really feel it helps distribute the heat much better. This is the third drive I've mounted in this enclosure.Mounted in the Rosewell enclosure, the back of the drive touches the top of the enclosure--which will aid even much more distributing heat. I strategy to use this as a Time Machine Backup for my MAC laptop.

Newegg rocks! Product reviewers don't. How can you rate your tech level as high but fail to study the item you are obtaining? Don't rate a product poorly simply because of your own mistake. Try reading the details:ƥ TB models are 12.5 mm high and could not be compatible with all notebook systems. Consult program specifications for maximum allowable drive height ahead of attempting to install.

It was an exciting obtain - to get a terabyte in the little 2.five inch drive. And, it does fit my MacBook Pro quickly. Very dependable organization. Also, my interactions with consumer service people today were outstanding. D.O.A. The device half worked for a couple of days, accepting back up files then when you plug it back in later, there was an error message. Normal RMA wanted me to pay for shipping and restocking fee. Following device failed in three various machines, I regretfully sent it back. Initial, praise for customer service folks. (Hi Eileen!) In 5 minutes with the chat interface, all RMA worked out fine. I can't believe the regular policy is I pay to ship them their defective item and I pay a restocking fee. Following interactions with client service, that was cleared up perfectly. My expertise fit with other evaluations. Read them. Yes, it is larger. Fits my new (i5) macBook Pro, but not an external drive housing advertised to fit ALL 2.5 in drives. (That got returned to a competitor.) Yes, it must be a tiny bit slower and a power user could notice this but not a typical web surfer, MS doc file user. And, a bigger cache may possibly assist speed. Notice how a lot of men and women had to RMA their drives. Looks like the good quality control in the initially batch may possibly have been at fault. Even the suggestions on the hex (or torq) wrench for the drive is suitable for the MacBook user. Lastly, I would nonetheless purchase the similar WD drive from NewEgg simply because each have solid track records and warranties.

This drive is actually surprisingly fast considering its only 5200rpm. It is thicker than standard 2.5" drives but will work fine in any laptop that has the appropriately sized drive bay.The free utilities that you can download from the WD website are really nice as well, allowing you to easily clone/replace an existing drive.

I installed this into a present model MacBook Pro i5.Easy install, fits nicely and has no noticeable vibrations or issues. It has only been in for a couple of days but so far I have no issues. Slower than the stock drive, noticeably so - but not as slow as I expected. Overall there hasn't been a massive reduction in efficiency. If there is I will report back.

Runs cool I was taken by surprise that WD's blue drives use 4k sectors (Advanced format). That is not in New Egg's description too. I was going to use it to upgrade my external enclosure, but the enclosure interface isn't Advanced drive compatible and I couldn't close the case since of the hight anyways. (I ought to have caught that in the description) I ended up employing it for a huge file dump on my XP machine. I had borrow a Win 7 computer system (I don't use Win7) and format it that computer system so it would be formated properly with 4k sectors whilst used in a Win XP personal computer. I'll pay more to use standard format 鹀 byte sector) drive as long as I can.

Good capacity just a bit too thick, not really a con, see "other thoughts" While it did function as soon as I got it into my PS3, I had to totally take apart my PS3 to get it in there. I had to get rid of the top of the tough drive sleeve and cut away a bit of the plastic housing... soon after that, it slid appropriate in and worked. I had to download the update for the tough drive to function... I'm really pleased with it. I wonder just how huge a drive I can jam into that factor!

1. Fits in a Asus 1201N Netbooktwo. I adore Western Digital drives. They are actual function horses.three. The drive is really quiet4. Replaces a stock 250GB Scorpio Blue which is in the identical loved ones of challenging drives by the exact same manufacturer.five. BIOS recognizes drive6. Windows 7 64 bit recognizes the drive and formats as 931.5GB. It Bareley Fits and by that I mean it is tight. The disassembly and reassembly of the Asus 1201N is incredibly tough. Be ready to spend an hour on this task. Also, there will be an ever so slight flex in the keyboard as it rises to the contour of its belly. This is nearly inperceptable but it is there. I can't wait till these drives shrink just a little bit much more in physical size. I seriously have no desire to get a SSD. When the 7200 version of this drive comes out, I could work up the courage to crack open the Asus 1201N again. With just a tad much more engineering, Asus could have produced the method less complicated to swap out hard drives. I'm not positive why there isn't a bottom access hatch for the drive. That is not a knock on this tough drive but I point it out since this Netbook is preferred and most people will want to upgrade to this great size difficult drive.

Good drive. Does what it claims that it does. Does not fit in 15" MacBook Pro. From my understanding, it will fit in the 17" MBP. I got it to fit in my 15" MBP, but its not mounted to the chassis. The drive is so massive that it takes the whole hdd cavity and sits there. Its fairly secure, but there are no shock mounts.

Nothing works. This is a widely known issue in the apple forums. WD tech support were not unhelpful.
