Comment:
I have always had good luck with WD drives, and have never ever had a single die on me. Additionally, they come with wonderful warranties, their website tends to make it uncomplicated to register/RMA a drive, and WD offers you access to some nifty software (namely Acronis True Image WD Edition). This drive is a noticeable improvement more than my old 7200 rpm drive. For these saying they aren't noticing a difference, attempt searching at applications that have to access your challenging drive a lot. Photoshop CS3 now boots practically instantaneously for me with this new drive! Not an SSD. For regular day to day usage, a 7200 rpm drive will suit the desires of 95% of consumers. But 10,000 rpm drives are gradually coming down in value, producing them worth the added premium you pay for them. Ultimately even though, SSDs will be the way to go in the future.

ten,000 RPM's, Rather, Cool, Quick Access time, five year warranty. None. Purchased a single of these for ๳.00 as a boot and application drive, with a 7200 Hitachi as my storage and page file drive. 7ms access time with a study avg. of 108 MB's according to HDTach. This drive is cooler than my 7200 Hitachi 26c vs 29c, and under no circumstances goes above 28c even below heavy use.

Rapid, quick quick!Quiet, as soon as AAM enabled and heatsink removed Not as quickly as an SSDComes with silly, noisy heatsink (void your warranty if removed)AAM disabled by default I'm a quiet computing freak who likes to game on occasion. Got tired of my quiet 7,200rpm drive taking so extended to load stuff. Amazed how fast disk scans full, games load, and par2's repair with this new drive. As soon as removed from the heatsink and AAM enabled, it's extremely quiet (with even extremely tiny air flow you don't want it to maintain the HDD cool). It also appears to have gotten quieter following a couple days of use. The only regret I have is that I didn't get the 300GB version for ๳ a week later.

Quickly! Great boot disk! Existing 1ǘtb disks rival the speed of this drive. Not to mention its cost vs storage. Great boot disk if you do not want to take the SSD plunge just however

They operate great, and don't fail if u have a fan on them. The price is insane for these drives. Eps this one particular as it's been out for a Long time, (altho this is a better version of the original).Folks are buying into the SSD hype, but they slow down and are unstable and useless if you do hefty information computing, like the other guy mentioned, Photo or video. When the market ultimately gets SSDs which don't slow down, and can take lots of read/writes without having failing then they will be quite higher priced and these raptors will nevertheless be the best non SSD alternative. So the price isn't coming down ANY time soon. Very good for WD. I had to rebuild my case out of cement blocks as every single drive weighs 120LBS!! Properly according to UPS hahaha!

Incredible performance. 450mb/s burst well over 100mb/s sustained.. Quick boot time Quick set up time.. windows 7.. worth each penny i purchased 2 none SSD appears a tiny sketcky and unreliable atm. 250 bucks for 2xvelociraptor and overnight shipping. for that value i could have gotten a 120ssd maybe? I ain't knocking ssd they are blazing fast nanosecond response time just higher price to gb ratio

Nonetheless the best bang for your buck performance-sensible.Excellent reliability with good buyer service.five year warranty Challenging to keep cool. Wants to be mounted with some airflow about it. Minor but critical gripe. Replaced an aging 150 GB SATA 1.five Raptor with this employing Windows 7 backup system imaging. Below an hour and i was up and running on the new drive with far better overall performance and a nice quiet drive. SSDs nevertheless as well high-priced and unreliable.

I purchased two of these drives. Even although they are on a SATA 150 controller I have to say they are amazing. Quickly , Quiet and cool...Will put them in a RAID array and see what they can do for DVD storage and playback. None, I got these on sale, But their worth it even at the typical price tag !

This drive is fast and trusted. I applied it as my program drive for more than a year till I upgraded to an SSD; now I'm working with it with 3 partitions for Ƒ) the re-situated paging file; ƒ) an internal backup drive; and Ɠ) rapid-access storage. Despite the fact that the SSD I purchased is quicker, I have to admit that I don't notice a enormous distinction in day-to-day operation and I could have saved myself some money by not upgrading at this time.Since its a two.5 drive in a three.5 enclosure, I can use my case's unused floppy-drive space for this drive and have been capable to add an extra 1TB storage drive to my program. None. I like this drive so considerably that when it went on a Newegg Black Friday sale for ๟.99 (a steal!) last week, I bought a second one particular to upgrade my HTPC's 7,200 RPM drive.I like Western Digital items -- by no means been disappointed. Ditto for Newegg's service!

I upgrade from a WD360-GD 34Gb 8Mb cache Raptor drive to this drive. Great tricky drive, haven't had a single difficulty with it. Runs truly rapidly. None. I use this as the primary hard drive for all of my games and it performs great. Read/ write speed is amazing on it, notably more quickly than a standard 7200RPM drive. A substantially less costly option to SSDs.

I've been making use of this tough drive for virtually two years now. It gets utilised for a number of hours per day pretty much every single day, and I haven't had the slightest bit of trouble with it. none Ahead of this drive, I employed a considerably smaller ࿄GB) 10k rpm drive from WD and it was an equally satisfactory drive. I'll be switching to SSD for my subsequent upgrade cycle but I intend to stick with Western Digital. 7 years (and counting) without having a challenging drive crash.

Bought 2 for 99.00 every single and put them in RAID .They are Rapidly. Better deal than the Samsung SSD i purchased. Got 300 GB Storage and Read is about 200mbs which is Good. They are more quickly than the 74GB raptors i used for years. Could be my controller but occasionally they lag in games. It is not incredibly generally. This may possibly not have something to do with the drives.
