Fun whilst it lasted. Was rapid and loaded applications when I clicked the button. Had two partitions one was the technique and the other was for programs so they would be separate and it would look and handle a little a lot more cleaner. Proper at the 1 month marker the drives failed and the aid collapsed. They had been clicking and grinding. The final time I heard noises like this was when I operate IT in High School and they were utilizing the IDE drives. I was reading some where that the raid array raises the latency of the drives and reduces there life. So maybe that's what occurred here.

High speed drive with excellent reliability Each 45 days or so it suffers a timeout that drops the drive from any sort of RAID that you connect it to. No fix from Western Digital is readily available. For the typical consumer, this is a good drive. For anybody placing a single in a high-finish workstation RAID or on a server, pick a different drive.

150gigs = enough space for windows 7 and about 3-four massive games. this is a performance drive. not a storage 1 (per-say).If you have loads of pictures/videos you will want a less expensive drive for mass storage. nevertheless, you could often move files from a cheaper storage drive, to this one particular, temporarialy, for thruput operating purposes. VELOCIRAPTOR. not much desires to be said about that.SSD is the only drives quicker, if u can afford them.

scores a 5.9 in WEI, not genuine keen on hardrives this is the very first time i've each accomplished a HDD upgrade and its a pain in the *&^ setting up raid if u never have messed with it, preformance wise...cant seriously say, i upgraded from a 7200 RPM and a q9300 quad core to a 10,000 RPM raptor and an i7-950 and my framerates in SC2 went from 70-85 to 120-175, thats with 2x GTS 450's in SLI on high graphics settings...how much of this preformance boost is the HDD? i have no thought, but this CPU is &^*%$&* amazing! nonetheless only a five.9 WEI rating, was expecting alot greater not positive i'd buy this precise drive realizing what i know now

GEEZ these issues are fast. I just ordered one more two drives to make a four drive RAID . I was hesitant at very first of employing onboard RAID controller for 4 drives but the intel ICH10R handles them really well. The outcomes are pretty impressive on benchmarks and on games. Here is my old setups An old IDE 7200 drive took a Complete two minutes to load a map in BF2Upgraded to two older style raptors in RAID a couple of years ago and turned a 110 mb/s HDtach time and loaded BF2 maps in roughly 30 seconds.Upgraded from those to two of these in RAID and my HDTach occasions practically double at around 210 mb/s with BF2 maps loading in 15 seconds.Just added an additional 2 drives and my HDTach occasions are 335 mb/s average with a BF2 map loading in below ten seconds! Reliablity does appear to be an problem for some, my initial RAID vanilla flavor Raptors died immediately after 4+ years of heavy use. These VR drives are two years old in a RAID and have not had any troubles however. I truly don't care as I upgrade my method every four years or so anyway. I tried these with a 128kb stripe size and got slower outcomes than with the 2x RAID so I went ahead and put the stripe down to 4kb. That gave me the the 335mb/s average. Random access is around 7 ms and my burst speeds are virtually 500 mb/s.

Solid drives. I had 1 raid warning early on (probably my MB though). Have two set up in RAID Array. I built this program to run LOGOS Library bible computer software 񢀪 volumes of books)-with a mixture of an I7 940 chip, six Gb's of mem. and a Foxconn bloodrage board. These hardrives speed the seek time TREMENDOUSLY. Searches that would take minutes were calculated in seconds. Once again, totally dependable drives. Not 15,000 RPM? Not SSD? Presently about to eliminate the OS from these drives and use two SSD's in RAID for OS, with these two drives in RAID for storage.

Extremely, quite fast. Win 7 will not rate a 7200 RPM drive above 5.9; this drive brought the drive rating up to 7.4! Highly advised, even though NewEgg has raised the value by ฤ since my acquire. Won't order and deliver a Pizza for me.

I got this drive for one particular cause. I wanted a drive for my OS that was quicker than the typical bear. I couldn't decide between a Solid State Drive or a 10k rpm drive. I decided to go with this due to the fact i didn't want to spend ū per gig on an SSD and i haven't been dissapointed. The drive has worked wonderful with no problems. You can hear it spin up but i by no means notice it following that. none

Had a single 150GB WD10K drive for about four years with 120mm fan on it. Functions rapidly and amazing with insane data read/writes (see beneath). Inexpensive-ish. They generally want to watch Jurassic Park. SSD is a joke at such a high value. I'm a professional photographer, and aspiring HD videographer. So I'm downloading anywhere from 30-100GB of information each and every week, and processing it until the subsequent job. There's NO WAY an SSD could manage that, as you require to limit your read/writes to SSDs, making them useless and foolish for my application. So even if I had บ,000 for a super program, I'd never ever even take into account them. These WD10k drives will last for ten years if you have a fan on them. (i have a 120mm fan prepared to blast away onto them).Going to use motherboard raid. Sadly, mobo raid doesn't see significantly efficiency gain immediately after two drives, so adding that 3rd and 4rd drive in RAID is only for space.6core AMD OC'ed to three.8Ghz. It's quick and affordable, just like my GF.

Really rapidly, worked excellent out of the box. It isn't quite as rapid as my 300GB VRaptor, but it's nonetheless really impressive. WD has created large leaps with this HDD. I bought the original 300GB VRaptor and replaced 6 of them in about two years. The most recent 1 I got via RMA was the new design, like this piece, and it has been fantastic. This unit was purchased for a consumer, and he's particularly happy with it, as was I when putting it together.

Screaming Fast - Just acquire 2 and setup in a Raid performance raid. Its uncomplicated in Windows 7. This thing is fast and it rocks compared to other difficult drives, even SSD's None - its a mechanical drive spinning at 10,000rpm if your cruising the world wide web, get one more drive, you wont see any speed. This drive is for performance freaks only! Very first I have been utilizing WD Raptors given that the 36gig Versions. You need to have to purchase 2 and run them in a Raid Performance Raid. I am bursting at 276mb in read speeds and write speeds are bursting around 127mb. I am employing Windows 7 Pro with a AMD 1090T Processor and a ASUS M4N98TD-EVO Motherboard. You can't go affordable on one piece of hardware and shove some quickly challenging drives in it and feel that a magical fairy will jump out and speed your unit up. Set it up right the very first time everytime and you will always be content. This drive is for Gamers, movie makers, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop users and those who wish to host on a Busy Enterprise share server or internet server. This is not for the guy who wants to cruise the world wide web. I got mine for 99 and that hard to beat! Com-Tek Chris signing off

Price at the time, 5yr warranty, solid efficiency. None Drive performs fine but in everyday standard use I can't definitely tell any efficiency difference from my other drives. I didn't actually expect a lot difference so thats OK. For the price at the time I just wanted to try one. My knowledge with WD drives & CO more than a lot of years has usually been very good.

Fantastic loading instances on games like Crysis, Dead Space 2, and obviously all the others. Figured it would be large enough. Wasn't. Maxed it with just games. If you're a gamer go for 250. Didn't do any tests but the day to day speed increase is impressive.

Really rapidly. The prices have come accomplished considering that I purchased mine. (pro for anybody searching to get, not so much me...). They are a lot cheaper than SSDs and a lot quicker than most HDDs. Has a built in heatsink that makes it mountable in most situations (looks cool and functional) It tends to find & fix additional poor sectors than my slower Challenging Drives- not a LOT, just more. (I imagine it could be an concern for somebody who does not run chkdsk as regular upkeep and does not back up regularly). I knew that would be the case when i purchased it tho... Not going to knock an egg off for that due to the fact it IS just as quick as it ought to be. Purchased this card for my personal gaming PC. My games load a lot quicker and my virus scans take a LOT less time.

Rapidly, Quiet Reliability I bought two of these drives at the end of November 2009, about two months went by and 1 of them had the click of death. RMA'd it, got a "re-certified" drive as the replacement. That ran for yet another 6 months just before receiving the exact same click of death. The very first drive of the two is nonetheless operating just fine. I've traditionally not had any challenging feelings for precise producers, but immediately after spending the additional dollars for something that's supposed to be server grade and getting these problems (as well as the TLER concern), I will never ever purchase yet another WD drive again.

Great speed. Installed/Boots into Win7 quick. Loads games in a speedy fashion. 1st 1 I received was faulty, although it took various weeks for the concern to manifest and turn out to be genuinely noticeable. Games & apps would randomly freeze for anyplace from 5-30 seconds, then resume. Turned out the drive was getting Read difficulties, and got to the point where it was generating thousands of Read Errors a day (before sending back to WD it was beyond 60k Read Errors). Clearly got an unlucky pick the initially time about, but WD Advance RMA is fantastic, and paired with the cost-free WD-Edition Acronis True Image, I was able to clone my technique from the faulty drive to the replacement with no difficulties.Until SSDs have a much more appealing $ per GB pricetag, a Raptor fills the gap really nicely.

Extremely quickly!! Lasted me for over 2 years and still rolling! Huge noticeable distinction in between 72k and this one!! Nicely worth the dollars!! none really, beside its 3.0Gb/s, but its an older drive.. Bout it for 赓.99 on Jan 2009. The fastest CPU wount do you any excellent if you have to wait for the harddrive. I am nonetheless waiting until SSD technologies will improve and costs will go down. So with this is the very best choice for now!!
