This is an outstanding upgrade from a stock cooler. I slightly OC'ed my Phenom II 965 to 3.8Ghz(from three.4) and through Prime95 stability testing this cooler kept temperatures around 48-50C. That pretty impressive for full load temps considering the cost you're paying.Installations wasn't complicated but it does take a bit of force to get the hooks in on a AM2+/AM3 board but if you've performed it once it's essentially the same. Not truly a con but some may possibly not appreciate the blue led. Fortunately I program on swapping all my fans from red to blue. I won't be listed as a verified buyer because I bought from my neighborhood portion shop Fry's. Price was the exact same and I didn't really feel like waiting a few days for shipping.System SpecsAMD Phenom II X4 965 ʃ.8GhzMSI 785GTM-E45ZALMAN 9500A-LED 92mm two Ball CPU CoolerPatriotG 4GB DDR2 800MhzCoolerMaster HAF 932XFX Radeon HD 6870

I have owned this CPU Cooler for about six months now on a Phenom II x4 two.9 and haven’t had 1 bit of negative luck with it. It was a bit much more hard to attach but when its attached, it isn’t going anyplace. The Stock heatsink from AMD ran at about 122 - 140F ࿒-60C) idle and 140-158f ࿜-70C0 at heavy load, This heatsink runs idle at around 104F ࿈C) and about 122-131F ࿒ – 55C) under heavy load. This is a large difference to me, in all probability would like to see a bit cooler but I don’t feel this is too poor for a quad core. It is bulky so keep that in mind, if your RAM slots are subsequent to your CPU it could have a tendency to hang over. It also sits sideways (FAN facing down, I’d like to see it be in a position to face front-back so it can be in line with case fans). The FAN is lighted (emits a blue light). I am not fond of fancy glitter like that, but it does make for a excellent night light at night (if you have a windowed case).

Title pretty significantly sums it up. Initially got this cooler for my Athlon 64 back in ཁ and it has gotten me by way of 3 different builds, which includes my current i7-930 construct. Prime 95 pressure test on a stock Intel cooler pushed the temp to 80 degrees celsius. With the Zalman just on "silent" mode, the temp dropped 11 degrees. As for the supposedly sharp fins, I've by no means had a dilemma with that. Those other reviewers need to have hands created of tissue paper. FanMate is not aesthetically pleasing but it gets the job accomplished and I prefer that more than controlling through software program. I have the wire coming via an unused ethernet opening on my MB backplate. All in all, an amazing cooler that gets the job completed. Hands down, the ideal investment I've produced in terms of computer components. If they don't come out with the 1155 bracket, I'll be assuming the fetal position and crying myself to sleep in the corner. Please Zalman, come out with the 1155 adapter. The day that I put this poor boy to pasture will be a sad day in deed.

This is a very appealing fan. The LED is quite well lit and makes the inside of the case look good if you have a clear-sided case. Fan control switch makes it handy to adjust fan speed / noise manage. Did not cool like I would have expected. As soon as I "secured" the latch on the fan, I could nevertheless wiggle the fan slightly, and it would twist back and forth on the CPU a small. I would have expected a Considerably tighter and secure fit on this unit. This may possibly be why it did not cool effectively. I ended up replacing this unit with a stock Intel fan, which kept my CPU ten to 12 degrees celcius cooler then this fan. I was working with this on a q6700. Hopefully this is an isolated incident. I know that zalman makes good products, but this knowledge has left me with a poor perception of their merchandise.

Straightforward install on my AMD 965 BE + GIGABYTE GA-890GPA-UD3H. Didn't even have to pull the board out of my case (although it almost certainly would have made life less difficult if i had performed so).It was a little tricky to get points centered properly, but once i hooked the first mounting hook... the rest just pushed down into place nicely.Employing a good dab of Arctic Silver 5 and I'm seeing approximate temp drops of 10-15C across the board.Applied to idle at: ㅠC and now I'm properly under 30C.Heatsink looks nice and the blue LED fits in properly with the rest of my Antec 900 case. The actual install bracket/hook setup is a bit cumbersome to function with, but provides a solid connection as soon as locked in. You WILL have to push down on the thing with extreme pressure to get it hooked down. I virtually felt like I was breaking my Mobo. But no biggie when you install it. Wonderful price and exceptional cooling for a easy air unit. Would use once more.

Ordered this infant on a Tuesday night, came Thursday morning, even with free shipping. Unboxing presented all the needed pieces, at least for install on socket AM3 (don't care about Intel). Install on AM3 was ridiculously easy, just stick the metal clip bar via the copper heatpipes and snap in. Fans is quiet and looks nice with the blue LED. Temps instantly dropped about 12-14c from the stock cooler that came OEM with the Phenom 2 955 BE. Installation looked way a lot more involved on an Intel chipset, though I can't say for confident. While AM3 socket produced it a lot less complicated, you still need to be cautious when clipping in the bar as the fins on this thing are super sharp, and hard to stay away from from some angles. Also, fan plug is on the wrong side of this cooler on my motherboard, but that's not Zalman's fault truly. Wonderful fan for a good price. Looks awesome and no-hassle install. Hopefully I'll have this thing for a looong time.

I had so numerous cooling troubles ahead of employing this. The stock heatsink/fan on my Athlon II X64 just wasn't cutting it. This thing solved all my CPU cooling problems. I now am making use of it with my AMD Phenom II 965 and it nonetheless functions amazing. It also doesn't get clogged up with dust as poor as the stock fans did. It's a small heavy. It's truly about 5 or 10 grams more than the max weight for my motherboard but it hasn't presented any complications. I've even moved my case more than to buddies' houses and haven't had an concern (although I'm quite careful about moving it around). I absolutely could see there becoming an concern if the case shook too challenging, although.

Took my AMD 955 black edition from 38c on the stock cooler down to 28c immediately after i overclocked it 20%. The LED's are genuinely bright and very good, as well as the fan controller it came with is actually good. None but. Hope it doesn't die on me :D

I have had this heatsink and fan for two years on an Athlon 64, and it is nonetheless going! I really like it so significantly that I just purchased a 2nd one for a new laptop, and it's operating good. A little sharp. I wouldn't suggest throwing it at anyone's head... Went from a boring three yr old Thermaltake heatsink to this badboy( Zalman 9500) Cooled almost everything suitable down along with some other items. Blue leds appear excellent with my others and case. Definately advised. Install instructions had been simple when you read them over a million times, does not come with AMD/motherboard bracket so make sure your AMD chip comes with 1 or use the one already installed(took me forever to figure out I couldnt use the Intel with my Asus board. Cut my finger wide open taking it out of the box WEAR GLOVES! NEWEGG wonderful rapidly shipping! Thanks once more.P.S. Glad I didn't go with the 9700񵊜 Zalman..these factors are enormous!

It works. Copper. Relatively quiet (w/ manual speed control). Mobo mount (called a clip support in the manual) far superior to stock mount (Intel E7300). Idle temp in bios is 31-32 C, not OC'd. The instruction manual is fairly bad. I received an additional and unique clip than shown in the typical components section of the manual (this went unused - this is not the AMD clip lever shown in the manual, which I did also receive). I also received clip fixing bolts (these are shown in the intel components section) but the manual in no way shows when, where or why to use them (I did not use them). The zalman thermal paste is useless. I tried as tough as I could to squeeze every single last drop out of that absurdly smaller tube, but all together, there was nonetheless not sufficient paste to apply a thin coat on both the CPU and heatsink, as per the manual. This paste was also fairly hard and difficult to spread. Fortunately I just occurred to have a jar of generic thermal paste that's lasted many years and is extremely straightforward to apply and spread. The manual shows a picture of installing the fan mate 2 (manual speed controller) onto the left side panel. I extremely recommend attaching it to the other side panel (the panel you'll rarely eliminate) or on the leading panel.

Keeps my AMD Phenom II x4 955 idling at 31-32 degrees.Highest temp under heavy load was 56, till I remounted it due to the fact I had applied the Arctic Silver 5 wrong. Now the highest temp I have gotten was 51, which is a excellent temp for a heavy load.Really quiet compared to my AMD stock fan which was producing my ears bleed. Didn't lower temps as much as I thought it would, but after reading evaluations of other coolers, I have concluded that it is performing really a nice job.Sharp fin blades, be careful although installing! This factor is very hard to mount. The installation is rather simple itself, it is just genuinely difficult to really mount the factor on your CPU. Superior, quiet, fairly priced cooler.

Lowered temp on avg two. C, Quiet compared to AMD stock heatsink/fan, LED light is semi-cool if you like that sort of thing When the unit arrived, the fan itself was off-center compared to the heatsink and copper fins - tilted slightly left. As a result, the plastic fan blades had been HITTING the copper fins and it could not spin properly!!! I do not realize how this possibly passed any type of QA inspection. I ended up having to use a dremel to shave down the fan blades so that it developed space between the fan blades and fins. But the question remains -- WHY, as a consumer purchasing a supposedly finished item, did I even have to do that?? After the added work and modification, the heatsink/fan worked fine immediately after install. The greatest will need/want for me was to lower the fan volume, considering that imo the AMD Phenom II stock fan is ridiculously loud. Zalman 9500 passed this test and overall performs well. I laughed at other people today saying they cut themselves though installing, but when I finished I essentially had a cut on my finger. Hah. Be careful!

Quiet (on lowest setting), keeps CPU cool Installation is a challenge, pricier than other comparable coolers, directions are vague. Give your self an hour to install this baby. The directions give selections for installing the mounting bracket vertically or horizontally, depending on what your motherboard permits you to do. I had to use the vertical alignment and spent 20 minutes working the bracket by way of the heat pipes. Large pain. Regardless, the cooler has performed beautifully. It's extremely quiet on the lowest speed setting, and keeps my quad core very cool. I'm not a fan of led lights, but I hardly notice this one in my case. Yet another note: The fan does not plug in to your CPU fan plug, which causes concerns with some motherboards. My board provides me a "No CPU fan detected" warning which I just click by way of when I boot.

Keeps my Phenom II idling about 34 degrees C, and does it quieter than the stock fan/heatsink. The included fan manage is a neat add-on. Didn't have any trouble with the allegedly "razor-sharp" edges. The thing looks terrific and works great. The blue LED fan and shiny copper design makes me wish the side of my case was transparent. Really cool. The external user-controlled fan controller (Fan Mate two) certainly won't win any design contests; a cluster of wires run out of your case, ending in a rather unappealing, although unobtrusive, black box with a smaller dial. I'd rather have a software controller. The installation procedure was a bit new to me - I've only installed stock coolers just before this one - and it was a bit intimidating. I got through it in the end, immediately after cautious reading and re-reading of the two included directions booklets; for some reason, instruction manuals for two unique Zalman fans were included (this 1 and the old CNPS7000B).In the end, the installation wasn't incredibly challenging; I was just getting overly cautious. The clip lever to lock the fan onto the mobo was a bit challenging to press into position, but soon after I wrangled it there, it felt fairly solid. I ended up bypassing the Fan Mate 2 and connecting the fan directly to the mobo; it often runs at max speed (trying to fix this atm!), but the noise impact is minimal, and I don't have to worry about forgetting to manually ramp up the speed for processor-intensive activities.

Right after installation almost everything's great. It even has a human-adjustable fan speed. Keeps it far cooler than it ever was just before. Installation totally blew. That was by far the hardest computer portion I've ever had to install. If it hadn't worked immediately after installation I'd have sledge-hammered it out of frustration screaming my newly invented profanity. From square 1..the instruction manual does not specify which direction relative to the motherboard it has to be and due to the fact motherboards have random parts sticking out this is a huge difficulty. Trial and error for an hour..immediately after that you understand that whilst somehow avoiding the razor-sharp tentacles you have to get on top of it and push it down. After that you understand that you had it exactly as it said..but the intel latch is in the way of the fan so it doesn't work. You then have to get started over and flip it about, and once more slice your fingers up. The directions will need to have relative positioning.

Nice construction and fits my mid tower case properly. This 1 in fact bolts to the motherboard and I feel the clip design is wonderful. It lowered my idle temps on an Intel Q9650 from about 43C to about 33C. (That's about 110F to 91F!) None so far. Just be conscious that you have to take off the motherboard to install this cooler. I am completely pleased with it.
