This is a very solidly built, enclosure with FireWire and USB. I have two of these and use them to backup data on place to transport back to the server in my office - about 30-50MB per download. I use a Mac and there wasn't' any software or hardware troubles. Install, format and use. Effortless. Installing HD is genuinely straightforward, normal Phillips (crosshead) screws integrated. It's a tight fit but that's a great issue; there is no play for the HD to jostle around. Heat dissipation by means of aluminum is good but they don't have a fan. Also, they draw power from the FireWire cable and don't need to have AC power. For the size, high quality and ease of use I believe it's good. There are two cons for me. 1) The back side, where you open it to install a HD is kind of inexpensive plastic and doesn't fit with the all round excellent of the aluminum physique. 2) The grey rubber strips that run along the prime and bottom lengths retain slipping out.
