AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Very small heatsink

Pros:Quite fastRuns coolLow power consumptionGreat for my HTPCExcellent price for cheap CPU
Comment:
I purchased this for an HTPC I built and coupled with a 30GB SSD, it is very fast. I never bothered installing the stock heatsink and actually threw it out before even opening the heatsink packaging. Instead I drop  a Coolermaster TX3 on it in push/pull that runs silent and cool!I have had a couple of AMD's dual cores now and even when compared to my Sandy Bridge build runs Win 7 64-bit very fast. Also for $57 how could you go wrong?

A buddy gave me an AM3 Motherboard, so I got this chip to go with it. Simple install, runs cool, standard fan included in box is OK.Actual speed pick up from my previous Celeron D and MB. I can seriously tell it is considerably quicker and appears quite stable. Great price, very happy with buy. none

Properly priced, quick and runs nice and cool even on the teeny tiny stock heatsink. None so far. I ran the Crysis benchmark utility with my old Athlon x2 4200with the settings maxed and got an typical frame rate of 16.8 FPS. Put this processor in and got an typical of 27.9 FPS. Quite rapidly for the funds! The heatsink/fan is very tiny but a BB sized bit of Arctic Silver has kept it under 36c under heavy load.

I've utilised these cpu's in Numerous pc builds for both function and entry level gaming rigs. they are far more then effective for office function and a superb entry level gaming computers. these processors overclock very nicely on stock voltage and with minimal increases quickly can be rock solid at 4Ghz+ NONE! as far as gaming rigs, games are lastly taking benefit of multi-core cpus so if you're preparing on developing a future proof gaming rig pelase go with a quad core or 6 core cpu for not that significantly a lot more money. As usually you can never ever go wrong with AMD cpu's and Newegg. Adore you both =)

Quick esp when overclocked. low cost, cheap inexpensive. makes a nice media player chip. You can game with it, though not quite top notch, or perhaps its the affordable micro atx it's on. I bought this chip elsewhere on sale w/ micro mobo for very same cost. I overclocked to 3.three Ghz a 10% overclock, and still runs cool got a 6.5 subscore on windows 7 performance test

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:Noise from the stock fan

Pros:PerformanceTemperatures
Comment:
Coupled this with a 785G motherboard for a friend. Good performing for such an inexpensive processor, the 45nm fabrication means lower temps and overall higher performance. The only gripe is the loud stock HSF, but that's expected with most stock coolers. Highly recommend this to people looking for a light gaming build or office computer.

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: - The included heatsink looks pretty cheap, even for a stock heatsink

Pros: - Cheap- Powerful enough for an HTPC or for normal use
Comment:
Bought this for an economic but "good enough" build and I am pretty happy with the result. Tried a bit of overclocking, and could achieve 3.3GHz with the stock heatsink and fan without temperatures rising too much. As I wanted a silent build, I didn't overclock it too much to keep the temperatures (and fan speeds) down. I've read online that this CPU could easily reach 3.9GHz, which makes it a pretty cheap but powerful performer.

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: Stock heat sink does not cool that well.

Pros: best bang for the buck
Comment:
I bought this for a file server / HTPC. I would recommend getting a third party heat sink as the stock one is really bad.If you plan on using it as HTPC or file server. I suggest you can underclock this to around 2-2.2Ghz and decrease the voltage to save on energy and have a lower heat profile.

This works greats on a 890GX. Speeds are decent, but it is a dual core AM3 processor that is very very cheap. No complaints so far. Runs cool as well inside a Antec 100 case. Appropriate for every day home users and HTPC builds.

Cons: Cannot unlock extra cores.

Pros: Fast , inexpensive CPU
Comment:
This CPU is great for a Home Theater or for someone who just has basic needs. It is a powerhouse when overclocked to 3.4-3.6 GHZ but you should upgrade the Heatsink. These CPU's are a non-gamers best friend.

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: -pre applied thermal paste (on the heatsink)^AMD should just bundle a bit of cheap paste like it did in the paste, because that stuff was atleast better than this pre applied gunk-heatsink/fan feels cheap in general and is tiny, if you plan on doing any overclocking, invest in non-stock air cooling atleast

Pros: -great price for a 3GHz dual core CPU-alot less wattage required than previous gen AMD's-runs alot cooler than I expected (30c offload, 35-39c maxload) even with the stock cooler-better than the Intel pentium chip
Comment:
Read above, NCIX was great though. Although it was not a huge price difference, I did find it slightly cheaper elsewhere so I went ahead and order on it, applied for the price match online and the order was approved and shipped within 24 hours! Thanks NCIX, expect most of my online electronic purchasing business in the future!

Works great in my new HTPC system. Great price for the performance. I would highly recommend this for any HTPC system because of it's low power consumption, low cost (cheaper than Intel) and low heat performance (low 30 degrees). Quad cores are overkill for HTPC's. This CPU paired with a Gigabyte 880GA-UD3H it works like a charm. Handles all HTPC needs such are recording, streaming, downloading very well. Motherboards for AMD's are also cheaper which makes this combo a great investment for many years. This is my forth AMD system and I highly recommend AMD systems to people who look for great performance at a great price. Overall I am very satisfied and I would purchase again without question. Seriously consider this CPU for everyday home use, from beginner to expert use.

Comment:
I bought this after I researched that this processor would not likely have locked cores. From what I've read, this processor does not have locked cores whatsoever. Nevertheless, I sometimes overclock this cpu to 3.7 ghz if I feel the need for more performance.

Cons: - Kinda whimpy heatsink but is quiet

Pros: - Very good speed for the price- Good overclocking- Quiet Heatsink
Comment:
Installed in a GA-MA78LM-S2H. The options were there to unlock but the one I got wouldn't unlock, but you should take it as a bonus if it does unlock. For $60, and overclocked, this CPU is more than enough for office use and mathematical programs like MATLAB.
