unlocked 4th core with no complications. unlocked to a phenom II x4 b50. Fastest processor ive ever owned. a couple BSOD, i believe 1 with 3 cores in use and 2 with 4 cores. I ran prime 95 with 4th unlocked and ran fine for two.five hours so i'm not genuinely positive what the difficulty was.

I rebuilt a (still functional) old Dell Dimension 4700 from the inside-out as a spending budget secondary technique - meaning I kept the case. Unlocked the 4th core on this AMD baby! :) (I kept the original Dell 305W PSU but I lost the front-side ports changing the mobo due to the fact Dell has proprietary connectors. They had been so low on the case that I under no circumstances utilized them anyway).I now have a four-core "D-4700" that boots Win 7 Pro 64 in 25 seconds (Lol - I just tell pals they don't make points like they utilized to any longer - and that I dust it and defrag just about every week).6Gb SATA, USB 3., and a SSD add some secret "kick" to my Ś-yr old" Pc. None so far.

Unlocked to a Phenom X4 B50 with an Asus M4A78LT-M with out any concerns. OC'd to three.4GHz simply as well (tried up to three.6GHz, but the program became unstable; probably much more due to the RAM than the CPU). It's very affordable for the efficiency boost in my application (DAW), hanging with other chips that price twice as substantially. No L3 cache, but hey... whatcha gonna do? This is just filling the CPU slot in my mobo till the X6 CPUs come down in cost. And it's doing a fine job. Moved from a program running an Athlon X2 3800 at 2Ghz. The performance raise is right away evident and quite welcome!

Very excellent CPU, overclocking it at three.9 GHZ and it takes it like a champ. Couldn't unlock 4th core, BSoD as soon as you try, even tried underclocking the CPU. I'm not going to deduct an egg for that, I know that you won't be in a position to do this on just about every X3 CPU.

Got this instead of the quad core and saved about 30 bucks. Unlocked the 4th core on mine with no difficulty making use of Gigabyte 880G-d2h board. Ran a little hotter though. Nevertheless an wonderful processor that is plenty rapid for me and for about 70 bucks?! I love AMD! Temps were a tiny bit higher ࿆ degrees at idle with stock hs vs. about 28 with only three cores). Ran prime 95 for 15 minutes and it goes up to high 50's which is kinda high, but I won't ever push it as hard as prime 95 does. With only 3 cores it only gets up to high 40's.BUT...I purchased and paid for a triple core processor and for a triple core it is well inside the regular range. So saying it runs hot after I unlock the 4th core is sort of looking a gift horse in the mouth. I can't think how significantly bang I get for my buck with AMD. To buy a comparable intel you'd pay at least double. Newegg, as always, was perfect with shipping, email updates, and so on. not to mention a good price tag.

low cost: purchased as a combo deal with a BIOSTAR A880G+ for 贓.Unlocking the 4th core with the BIOSTAR mobo was trivial. Passed Prime95 burn-in w/o issues.Way quicker than the 9500 Phenom X4 I built a couple of years ago. I'm creating this box for my GF, not me. =/

-Best (or close) processor on the marketplace when it comes to price/performance ratio-Fantastic multitasking performance therefore far-Extremely quick-Price tag None that I know of... I don't significantly care for this MFG's stock HSFs, though I'd say the identical for any of the HSFs that the competitor to this MFG supplies with their hardware. Pass-via HSFs (aftermarket) are far additional efficient than the OEM pull-down HSFs, in my knowledge.Purchased as a gift for my brother - he's been working with for almost a month and not a single hiccup so far. Enormous improvement more than his old CPU.

Cons:low cache

Pros:Fast core count, unlockable core
Comment:
This day and age, processors are rarely a bottleneck so you can afford to go cheap on them to a degree. With this, you get a fairly decent clock speed, and a third core just to differentiate from the common dual core requirement of most games. As an added bonus, my motherboard unlocked a fourth core - a quad core at 80 bucks seems pretty good to me

Got this in a combo deal with the biostar A880G+ mobo. My second amd develop this year, this one as an HTPC sort personal computer, the other as a gaming create. This little cpu screams for what I am doing with it. I completely expected only 3 cores, but right after some bios modifications I recieved a perfectly superior quad core cpu for 70 bucks more affordable. From what I have been reading, this 450 chip appears to unlock 60% of the time, much better then most chips for that objective. Efficiency even as a tri core though was additional then adequate for this kind of a machine, not the ideal proc out there but price/performance ratio of this factor is astronomical. The heatsink, even though im sure additional then capable of keeping decent temps with what the chip is intended for, (running three cores at 3.2ghz), is rather modest and flimsy. I didnt trust it enough to put it this build. I had another amd heatsink from my previous develop, an amd phenom II x4 955 BE that I utilised instead. My very first make this year was the phenom II x4 955 BE, I have it overclocked on air to three.9 ghz with temps staying under 46c no matter how a lot I abuse it. This 1 I have unlocked as a quad B50 and will not overclock it as it doesnt want to, but just for the H of it I did manage to hit three.five ghz as a quad core prior to unstability occured (probably a memory difficulty although rather then processor). My temps nearly appear too cool running as a quad, with cool and quiet technology on, im obtaining about 22c idle, max 38c.

Pros:3.2ghz and 3 cores for $80 what more can be said?Good stock heatsink/cooler
Comment:
This is still the best value for a budget gaming or general purpose PC. Great performance at such a low price you just can't go wrong. Didn't bother unlocking the 4th core or overclocking as the stock speeds are more than enough for what my wife would need. Another thing I love about AMD cpus are the ease of installing their stock coolers compared to the Intel ones. Easy locking clips>cheap plastic push pins.

This cpu exceeded all expectations! Unlocked the fourth core, and overclocked to 3.5 ! None.....for the value! If you unlock the fourth core this will probably limit your overclocking capacity.....but who cares ....it's a quad! But to answer all concerns about instability with unlocked cores ....it runs good and frosty no complications.....for the cost even unlocked a excellent acquire........unlocked a windows expertise index of 7.four! thank you AMD!

At ๟ its worth receiving over the ์ X2 and significantly more affordable than the next logical step up, the i3-2100 (especially taking into consideration OC/Unlock prospective puts it on par with it). This chip will play virtually all games out nowadays at max settings, so this is the best practical chip due to the fact we all know how rapidly hardware outdates anyways. None. It's not a Phenom, but I got a decent three.4 CPU / two.five NB oc at a minor voltage boost. Sadly I was stability restricted (not temp, incredibly cool chip) so couldn't force it to get even 10mhz far more. Unlocking was too uncomplicated on it though (most individuals say comparable outcomes, even though I've heard 4ghz on ones that wouldn't unlock). Probably a perfectly functional Propus disabled to meet demand. FYI To people today who are not in fact 5 star tech level as they say, and say they cant unlock and dont know better, you will need to lower the HT Link to 1.6 for unlocking.

-Pretty rapidly 3 core-price -fan is loud occasionally. Of the three AMD stock heatsink fans I've owned, this has to be the loudest. There is a high pitched whine and also a lot of air movement noise. Maybe like 30dB max? Just a guess. -Would NOT unlock 4th core. Biostar TA880G mobo.-39C idle.-Initially 1 I received had the AMD seal broken. Newegg replaced it post haste.

Low cost and reasonably fast. Some of them are unlockable to four cores with pretty much no effort. Not the fastest CPUs out there. Not all of them can be unlocked. I bought two of these for new computers for my household. One of them unlocked to four cores, one of them didn't.Paired with a GIGABYTE GA-880GM-D2H, a WD caviar black, and an Antec earthwatts, they draw about ㅥW at idle. Not bad at all, specially given the cost.

Unlocked 4th core with ease and stability. Stays really cool, best is 108*F. none Very reasonably priced, OC'ed to four.53GHz WITH 4th core unlocked before instability occured. following dropping the OC it continued operating quick, but cooled off quickly. Stock fan is a small loud, but not annoyingly. Nonetheless running smoothly, loads Windows 7 Ultimate in a snap. Runs The Sims3 as if it had been the Sims 1 with full UI enabled. Leading notch processor!

Wikipedia Advanced Clock Calibration (ACC) explanation.I own a Rana 3.two GHz CPU. One additional core is referenced in the BIOS. It does not work. Vista x64 will not install at all with ACC enabled. No apparent cause why for this. Here is a Wikipedia explanation as to possibly why. As AMD is apparently quiet on this topic, from what I read, this details is FYI only and merely my individual observation based on this 1 knowledge. Note the Wikipedia explanation that follows. In certain, note the "chip harvesting" and "feature binning." Why would AMD give a person a perfectly superior core for nothing? The answer(s) seem to be that they don't. These are apparently original version defective CPUs. They are sold in the configuration that worked. This way AMD get to sell some of its production losses. An accountant could say to help recover some of their fixed production costs. Apparently, the "bad" cores are suppossed to be disabled and not visible in the BIOS. Note "bad cores." Wikipedia Explanation:Advanced Clock CalibrationAdvanced clock calibration (ACC) is a function originally available for Phenom households of processors, particularly for Black Edition ones, to boost the overclocking prospective of the CPU. ACC is supported by the SB710 and the SB750 southbridges, and accessible by means of BIOS settings on some motherboards and AMD OverDrive utility.⎷]It was later discovered that this functionality has the possibility of unlocking the supposedly disabled cores of some Phenom II X2/X3 processors. In normal circumstances, it is not achievable to use or unlock any of those hidden cores since originally those cores were disabled: a approach referred to as "chip harvesting" or "feature binning" utilised by AMD to sell parts with 1 or two defective cores which will trigger system instability if not disabled. The following are obtainable via the Advanced Clock Calibration featureɅ.Auto or manual settings2.Allow separate settings for each and every of the CPU coresthree.Allowe It would appear then that if you got a excellent "free core" working it wasn't intentional on AMDs portion. In theory then, if AMD had been able to adequately test each CPU, in each and every batch, you really should never acquire a CPU with an extra core that wasn't defective. A random sampling strategy, however, may possibly let a particular number of functional cores pass on by means of undetected. The likelihood of finding 1 appears to be fairly slim as other Newegg'ers noted statistically. This practice may well not be decitful on AMDs component (you still get what youy pay for)but neither is it a entirely honest approach either. This review mentions absolutely nothing of the motherboard producers participation in this concept. Biostar provodes no support for ACC. May it impact AMDs sales if this practice was widely recognized? It might. How do you truly know what you are acquiring? Is silence golden? It wasted two weeks of my time fiddling with this apparent nonsense. I think I'll stick to purchasing lottery tickets if I want to gamble.

Good value! My motherboard (ASUS M4A78LT-M) was able to unlock a fourth core. Nice! Also, I was able overclock 10% with out issue. none I wouldn't necessarily count on becoming able to unlock a fourth core. Presumably the hidden core is to boost chip yields, meaning some shipped chips have a broken 4th core. But you could get lucky.
