With Bios 5001 flashed to my M2N-SLI Deluxe, this cpu provides new life to an aging MB. Really stable, benchmarks show suitable at 2x the efficiency of a 5600+ Windsor. Runs 10 degrees C. cooler each at idle and full load. Excellent efficiency enhance for the funds. Win 7 Index went to 7.3 and memory index went from 7.1 to 7.3 also. The fan appears fine to me and I have QnCool turned off. None ASUS M2N-SLi Deluxe owners should get this. It is on the cpu aproval list for the board. It works.

Way cheaper then Intel. Thats the only reason needed imho. Nada Its a solid quad thats WAY cheaper then Intel. For a normal user AMD is a much better value period. Its practically 2Ʌ on cost for the precise exact same performance. These are the factors to take into accountɅ/ No L3 Cache, No massive deal. Unless you are developing a super leading notch rig L3 Cache isn't neccessary.2/ It saids 3.0GHz, but overclocking it isn't that difficult. I got mine to 3.7xx with no challenge. Could prolly push it even harder.three/ Most present software program runs on 2 cores. Unless you are operating 3-four demanding software program AT As soon as, 6 cores are just more than kill. Quads is a ideal compromise for normal users. I'm running 8 various software atm no difficulty. Save your $$ and get much more / greater RAM.AMD Athlon II x4 640 Propus three.0GHzASUS M4A88TD-EVO/USB3 AM3CORSAIR CMPSU-650TX 650W ATX12VG.Skill Ripjaws Series 4GB DDR3 1333 F3-10666CL8D-4GBRMWD Caviar Black WD5002AALX 500GB 7200RPM SATA 6.0GB/SCorsair CWCH50-1 CPU COOLERCorsair Graphite Series 600T ATX Mid TowerWindows 7

Awesome performance for the price. Seriously, can't beat the price. I've thrown a couple of processor intensive programs at this baby so far and it definitely doesn't slow down. Really the beast. Stock heat sink is kinda wimpy seeking. Used an older heat sink and it worked fantastic. Paired with 8GB of G.Skill RAM and RAID HD configuration for a very quick system. Absolutely no complaints.

cost -no l3 cache-soon after opening folder on hdd's, pc now has to load the contents for five-10 seconds prior to anything can be clicked-bluetooth wireless mouse and keyboard will hang up and not work for 30 seconds periodically i applied to use intel chips, so for my last create, i believed i would get a actually good price/performance ratio chip and following researching, went with this 1. every evaluation, such as here, gave the chip great critiques, and the ones that mentioned the lack of an l3 cache nonetheless showed good benchmarking tests and mentioned that it wouldn't be noticeable. i have no thought if the problems i've had are since of the l3 dilemma or what, all i know is that i've by no means had any troubles with my intel builds. like the cons say, my hdd's have to load prior to i can click on files, i've neer had this occur with an intel, my intel duo-core could manage my 2 tb storage no difficulty. also, my bluetooth mouse and keyboard will hang up and freeze for periods of up to 30 seconds at a time, this is extremely frustrating. i genuinely wish i had stuck with intel, or possibly got the phenom rather. wish i could trade this in, as i will never ever acquire amd once again and will tell pals to remain away as nicely.

Stock cooler fits in a 2U server chassis. The stock cooler (remember, working with one more cooler voids your warranty) is a bit loud. Not terribly so, but some thing to be aware of if you're creating an HTPC.

Worked fine out of the box, cpu fan that comes with it was a bit low cost. I had some thing nicer to preserve it cool. Running windows 7 64-bit incredibly effectively for me. For the prices it was really nicely worth picking it up. No complaints.

AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons:None thus far.

Pros:Efficient. Does the job!
Comment:
I built an Amahi server (on top of Fedora 14) with it along with an Asus M5A78L-M LX mATX AM3+ board (which has a 95w CPU max restriction), 4GB Kingston ValueRAM, and a Seasonic SS-400ET 400W power supply and am very pleased with the result. Runs cool and efficient and has more than enough horsepower - didn't even need a case fan.

Employed this to construct a spending budget gaming/media rig and it works wonderful. Runs very low temp when doing common computing gets up to about 40c when gaming. I did add a couple of case fans that brought it down to around 35 durning gaiming. All in all you can't go wrong with this proc. Best bang for the quad core buck on the industry. Non so far

For under $100 (price match) this was a no brainier, with the right cooling you can easily get this baby up to and over 4.0ghz.I'd highly recommend this for any budget build.

AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: stock cooler is a piece o junk (replace with the best bang for buck cooler you can find -> i chose the CM 212+ )

Pros: great bang for bucklots of room for OC
Comment:
Bought this for a budget build with the small possibility of OC in the future. Stock cooler is UBER loud (as expected)with the stock cooler and my fullly fan loaded antec 300 case (5 120mm fans and 1 140mm fan) and all fans on max the case is crazy loud. With no OC and the previous setup, the cpu temp is 61 at load. w/ my 212+ cooler installed the temps dropped to 28 at loadw/ the 212 and everything turned to low RPMs in the BIOS, my temps are 41 at load. so it's either: cool and loud or warm and quite. Either way you can see from the temps that there's lots of room for OC :D

AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: With the stock cooler this runs extremely hot under prime 95. Best to go for the aftermarket cooling if you plan on OCing.

Pros: One of the cheapest quadcores available. Great for a basic computer for the next 2-3 years.
Comment:
Stable at 3.5ghz. Could push it a lot higher but theres really no need. Amazing purchase for a budget build.

I purchased this to replace my old dual-core AM2 processor for gaming. I play with high settings but at lower res on my old flatscreen monitor so this is perfect for me. It works like a charm, easy install and replacement, works on my Foxconn A7VMX-K motherboard, so I can get a little more life out of this old system yet. Plus price match FTW.

AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: Non so far!

Pros: Price , quad core, great overclock, versatile all round budget uses
Comment:
Ditto to all the reviews! I wanted a nice fast processor with room to try my hand at overclocking (first time). Main uses: Windows Home Server, HTPC, light gaming, Internet, dual boot system, I had Win XP PRO to use. Hope to get 2 or 3 years out of it! Use as learning tool, as this is not our main comp, I told wife I wanted to build cheap comp that I could play with for under $700. Pitted somewhere between core I3 and I5-661, I put it in an Antec 300 case, modded with side window and extra fans and cooler so I could over clock it, 3x1 TB drives for now and a Gigabyte ATI HD5570 1GB Video card. Added hot swop bay in front , totally happy with results so far. Would buy again! Going to try over clock soon!
