Cons:- No unlocked multiplier

Pros:- Great price/performance- 95W max TDP- Quad core- fast core clocks- L3 cache

As previous mentioned, this is in fact a great processor for the money. However, Sandy-bridge would be the better choice at this moment.

All the evaluations say this CPU is fantastic. It does in reality come with a situation badge, it's just tough to discover the tiny little bugger in the box. Came in DOA. Either that or my ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard did. Asked one of my a lot more technical personal computer buddies and he stated it was the CPU. Theres considerably far more negativity on the reviews about the mobo even though... Waiting for the RMA status to tell me whether or not or not it was my CPU. I really hope it was. My buddy has the identical CPU in his personal computer and it operates wonderful.

Cheap!rapid processorPhenom II series is most likely ideal bang for the buck not black edition Upgraded from a E5200 core duo to this processor. Running the 945 with a Biostar TA890GXB board, BFG 9800 GT, 4GB Corsair DDR3, Coolermaster Hyper 212. I have been a massive overclocker on each amd and intel processors but haven't required to overclock simply because Computer runs fast. Currently operating SC2, MW2, Photoshop CS4 on pretty significantly the highest settings. Good upgrade and quite happy with my construct. In my opinion one of the best price range quad-core builds.

AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Not the best value compared to Sandy / Ivy bridge

Pros:Decent performance compared to Bulldozer, good price right now
Comment:
If you're upgrading your processor with an existing AM3 board then this is a good buy. If you are planning on putting together a new system, I'd suggest looking at an i3-2100 or so instead. It'll give you much better performance in most applications, and won't cost much more.

I went from an Athlon FX-55 socket 939 to this and I am extremely glad. With the MSI 870a-G54, Iam able to overclock with a dial mounted on the MB, OC Genie or adjust the dial from the ControlCenter from the desktop. With added voltage from the Bio's and using Manage Center to up the FSB and multiplier, I have it running at a modest three.four Ghz wǞGb's of G.Ability and dual 500 Gb HD's in RAID , 2- XFX 5670's with a gig of DDR5 every single in X-fire, the factor runs at 35C proper now and I am encoding an avi to a DVD in the background. That says a LOT for a 130 buck chip! There are none. This thing has been on 4 days straight taking old .avi's I had and encoding them for DVD's. I just ordered 50 a lot more DVD+R DL simply because I utilized all mine up in the final four days. Value to performance, you can't do superior. No matter whether it's playing Deadspace 2, extracting audio from DVD's or encoding videos, it does it all and has never ever gone above 38c. Sure there is more quickly out there but, why spend additional when this factor does Almost everything I want and does it immediately.

Great efficiency for the price.Incredibly quickly overclocked for that further bit of performance.Shares a socket with the X6, so you can upgrade to a much better processor in the future without having altering out every thing else. (upgradeability is essential!) It isn't blazing rapid or something. Quad core Intels will outperform it, but these are additional expensive. For mid-range computers, this processor is king. Why bother paying far more for a more quickly version when this one is so very easily overclocked to these speeds? If the most performing with your pc is gaming, then something a lot more highly effective will be a waste, this is presently the perfect mix of price and efficiency for gamers.

Exceptional value quad core.Replaces an Athlon 64 x2 鿫) - old CPUUses are video editing and re-encoding largely with some web style and gaming mixed in. Stock heatsink and thermal grease are a joke. No self-respecting Pc builder would ever use them. AMD and Intel need to quit selling them with the heatsink and give far more OEM priced chips. I constantly recommend Arctic Silver as the thermal grease of selection and a copper base heatsink.

Stable as a rockcool as a cukefast as, well, not terribly quick, but very sufficient.... Takes twice as extended to load win 7x64 on my Jetway HA08 790GX with 8Gig operating at 1333, as does my Phenom II x4 955 black an an ASUS 790. . Not positive why. ALSO this CPU shows up in Core Temp and CPU-Z as running 800MHz on every single core. Hmmm, this is the only quad core of Intel or AMD I've utilised that split the final Hz by 4. Currently flashed the BIOS and identical thing.... Get the 955 Black for the extra ŭ (as listed on Newegg suitable now). I've got this 1 overclocked to three.four but still takes a though to load Windows. Or, totally free oneself from the chain of planned obsolecense and use a version of Linux as an alternative of Windows.... much more quickly on any processor and you can't be the cost (free! not to mention all the no cost ware there is for it!)

My Asus motherboard picked up with no difficulty. Asus's built in computer software to more than clock for you worked remarkable to set this thing to three.6 and stable. Runs a small warm. 27-35 idle, which is fine, but occasionally reaches 75C beneath load. Guess it's time to get an following industry heat sink and fan. :D

95W!Runs Cool!Glad I saved the money from the 955 BE, it runs way more rapidly than my old Q6600 Quad! Fan on CPU cooler may possibly be a tiny noisier than most, perhaps mine is faulty but I cant let an egg go for that. Possibly a Black Edition Model of the 945? Would like to see an enhanced fan system. Still runs very cool

1. If you just browse net and play some mp3 cpu temp is 29 C !! and i saw in Linux it is only running in 800 MHz !! that signifies it is power effective for positive.2. my chess program , deep rybka 64 bit shows 450 KN/S calculation !! thats great. my turion x2 2GhZ only shows 120KN/s. but you can not use your pc at that time. but this phenom II lets me browse at the identical time . not applicable for this CPU ! I am extremely happy :-)

Runs like a quad core need to. Simple installation. Stock heatsink and fan operating nicely. Can't hear fan more than mild air flow noise from my case fans. Put CPU under heavy strain test with all 4 cores maxed out to 100% and temp didn't rise above 57c.Would very reccommend to any that isn't that interested in overclocking, otherwise get the black edition. This 1 has the good 95W usage however which I like, compared to the Blacks 125W. None that I can feel of.....even if I attempt to get picky. Utilised in my first develop. Happy with this selection. A lot less costly than an Intel. Perhaps not as fast, but more than rapidly adequate for what I do, and in all probability won't be making use of 4th core a lot anyway.

Rapidly, low power, runs cool, scores 7.three on the WEI, memory efficiency increased and it is backwards compatible to my 3 year old AM2 motherboard. Doesn't do dishesOnly bought 1Didn't come with a free of charge 5770 If you acquire this for an older motherboard make sure you have a bios to help it. When booting for the very first time with this method load the optimal defaults if it doesn't boot or hangs at verifying DMI.

This factor is low-cost compared to the Core2 Quad in my final develop. Handles 1600 MHz DDR3 very easily. Nothing. Runs cool, way cooler than my old Core2 Quad machine which is surprising since it runs at a higher clock speed. It idles around 30c and hits 45c beneath load with the heatsink that came with it.

Terrific speed and efficiency in and out of games. For the cost you really can't beat it. Had it for half a year and just lately OC'ed it to 3.four Ghz. Runs stable and cool (around 41 C at 85% or greater usage on all 4 cores) though I did install afrermarket heatsink and fan. Stock heat sink fan is so-so. Functions just fine but I suggest finding your own and some thermal paste (you can ger each for below ุ) and apply them your self. It is simple, just google search it and look for videos or instructions. Almost certainly obtaining to be a bit dated now, but nevertheless a good performing reasonably priced processor. Pair it with an Ati Hd 5xxx or greater and appreciate gaming on high settings.
