This CPU is awesome for the price. You can't truly get considerably greater than this for typical use on a computer. If you are seeking for a terrific spending budget create, make positive you throw this in the list. Runs fast, runs cool, never ever gets bogged down. I built a spending budget personal computer for a friend with this processor and even for gaming it runs every thing well. Not a 965? Not Black Edition? I just ordered 1 for myself on Sunday. Payed for subsequent day saver UPS. Nonetheless waiting on it :/ I know I ordered on a holiday weekend. But I was hoping for it to be here these days (Tuesday). Next time I guess I'll pay the additional for express processing I suppose. Just wish Newegg was faster. Can't blame them although, They most likely have so much going on that items can get a bit tied up. So no less stars for shipping speed :)

Upgraded from an AMD Phenom x3 8450 @ two.6GHz to this puppy on an ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe board with 3106 BIOS already installed. Motherboard read CPU with no problems. Gave more multiples in each CPU and NB alternatives then the 8450. Runs cooler then the 8450 @ 2625MHz. Was able to OC to 250MHz x 15򕵶MHz, but have it @ 240MHz x 15ɥ.6GHz @ 1.3625v and stable. Idles around 31C; Load about 45C w/Corsair H50. Accurate Quad Core, 95watts, C3 version and case badge are some much more pros. Heatsink looks the similar as the 8450. Do not know how very good/bad it runs because H50 was installed at initial use. Rather than that, no cons here. CPU Speed v2.76 Clocks at 3706.6 when OCed to 3.6GHz. Wish I knew how lengthy the processor would final if the HT bus is running at 2400񳖴MHz. Set HT clock to 240MHz x 9򕝀MHz till I locate some answers on the net. Also, I have C&Q and C1E to give CPU longevity and reduce power usage when not necessary.

Easy installDrop-in upgradeSuperior for video encoding (but not the very best)Cost/performance ratio Stock HSF is not up to any type of overclocking; works fine on stock settings, even so.At the existing cost point, the Phenom II x6 is not that a lot additional costly. If you're searching for some thing to kill an i7, this isn't it. But if you're searching to do some video encoding on a tight budget and are frustrated with a dual-core, this is the excellent basic upgrade. It's a quad-core for the masses. With the low wattage and high TDP, it's got some room for overclocking, but not with out an aftermarket HSF. As other people have said, the stock cooler is a block of finned aluminum with no copper or pipes. Don't press your luck if you want to rev this unit up.If you can afford the extra dollars go for the x6 version of this chip; if you're watching just about every dime, this 1 won't do you wrong. Also note I had to RMA the initially chip I bought. It was causing program instability and crashes on each Win7 and XP in my dual-boot method, even immediately after the proper BIOS upgrade. Newegg had a replacement out to me within a week, and it's been working as soundly as the Athlon II it replaced. Thanks, Newegg.

3.0ghz speed x 4 cores. AMD heatsink is satisfactory for heat dissipation.Have never reached 100% CPU Load. The only Con I have is that one of the pins had been bent on the CPU. I utilised a jewelers flathead screw driver to straighten it to the point had been I could insert the CPU into the board. Heatsink could be a bit far better. I wish that AMD would give various grades of cooling. They have to know how hot those chips get...

AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor
Cons: what a wimpy stock HSF...

Pros: I can see lots of overclocking potential.
Comment:
The stock sink, was small! But, i still managed about 28 degrees idle, 56 load, on stock settings. i have no intention of overclocking this.

Cons: Not black edition

Pros: InexpensiveAM3
Comment:
Though the hexacores may be out now, this is still a good processor. Paired up with a decent gpu, it is great for gaming. It runs cool, even with stock heatsink. I upgraded from an Athlon 64 (socket 939), and it is clearly a big upgrade.

AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Processor
Cons: Can't modify multiplier setting - hinders OCing

Pros: Works as it should
Comment:
My only gripe is the 945s have set multipliers, so you'll have to fiddle around with everything else to get some worthwhile OCing results.
