AMD Phenom II X4 970 3.5GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: -Mine doesn't over clock the greatest, but that could vary from mine to the next.

Pros: -Powerful.-7.7/7.9 in Windows Experience Index.-Good for Gaming.

I have put a Corsair H70 Cooler on this and it works great, when I have my window open (computer is right in front of window) here in BC, with it being winter and all, the H70 is drawing freezing air directly from outside and cooling with it. Idle it was 3C, under full load the cpu was at 9C... Very cold, and I was able to OC to 4.2GHZ stable, ran with Prime95 for an hour with no problems. Though with window closed, Ambient Temp of 21C average, Idle was around 32C, and full load up to 44C, can only OC to 3.6GHZ stable for some reason. Also, I upgraded from an Athlon 635 at 2.9GHZ. Sadly, I didn't see much of a difference except in lower end games like source engine, which didn't matter cause I went from around 150FPS avg, to 200fps avg. Was expecting to see large performance increases in GTAIV mostly, but I only went from around 45FPS to 50FPS playing at high settings, shadows hurt my PC for some reason in this game, though it could be the GPU being a GTX260.

AMD Phenom II X4 970 3.5GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor
Cons: -only 500mhz faster than 965

Pros: +Overclocks higher than 965
Comment:
with the stock cooler installed i get around 25-30c idle and gets all the way up to around 60c gaming. i haven't overclocked it yet need to get a decent heatsink. it's practically the same as the previous 965 but can overclock higher and has an extra 500mhz. i've owned both not much of a performance difference, if you have the 965 and your thinking about upgrading to this cpu it's not really worth it might as well go for a 6core. i only upgraded because i got a crazy deal for this.
