Quite nice lay-out. Six SATA-II connections and 2 SATA-III, enough connections for most all of us! Rapid and extremely simple to configure.Nice board, would have got five eggs except for the cons listed below. Your mileage could differ! - Minus 1 egg for DOA- Minus 1 egg for poor ASUS Tech Assistance.Initially board was DOA and had to RMA. ASUS tech assistance was entirely useless, they didn't even read what troubleshooting actions had currently been taken, just sent me a message with the normal junk - clear cmos - swap memory, etc. Symptoms were really strange, couldn't enter BIOS settings, new board works Excellent! I have read a lot of conflicting stories about the Marvell SATA-III controller applied as the boot drive controller as well as stories about SSD's on the Marvell. I can tell you that SATA-III DOES function with a SSD as the boot device, but decided to re-configure the SSD to SATA-II, just to be protected.I Wish there was a far more definitive conclusion out there on the subject!

I'm amazed (and thrilled) that it started up after reading some of the horror stories on the ASUS forum pages. Started suitable up as soon as it figured out that the energy supply cable labeled EPS8 could be utilised for the eATX connnector on the mbo. No interest in overclocking yet, so standard memory works fine. ASUS update doesn't work, some funky error message that might be conflicting with other application. I'm not confident if I have the will energy (or the need to have) to update the BIOS.

Overall effectively made and laid out MB, great style and looks fantastic. Comes with with adequate amount of cables. Excellent amount of OC options. TO use 16ቬ PCI-E lanes you need to spot the the cards side by side. On my NZXT Phantom situation, I could not location a 3rd SLI card if I wanted to, without having jury rigging.Only four USB two. and two USB 3. ports, truly need additional in nowadays's world,

Lots of attributes, very good lay out. Lasted a year. Now will not post, nothing at all has changed. RMA'd, new board will not post.Memory on QVL, all of the modules will function in my AMD machine just fine.Paid way to much for something to last a year and be this buggy.Ought to be avoided.

This is a good board and has the best of the finest selections such as SATA3 and USB three.. Numerous SATA 2 slots. The BIOS capability is uncomplicated to use for overclocking. The computer software is great to use to monitor your process performance. It does not have an internal USB three. slot. Must obtain a PCI-e card to add an internal USB three. for my BYTECC UH-430 Super-Speed USB 3. 4-ports Internal 3.five" Bay HUB.

for the most portion, it's a great board, lots of features I have never been able to get this board to sleep and not crash. Running Windows 7, and if I try to let the machine sleep, it will ignore all input from the keyboard/mouse, and so on. Others have complained as well, but no solutions. Signs and symptoms: promptly immediately after sleep, the pc seems to wake again (lights, fans, and occasionally even the monitors come back on), but it will not accept any input from keyboard or mouse, and you have to tough boot. I have attempted to work with asus help on this, but all they gave me was "download the most current firmware, and check your settings" (which I did, to no avail). I don't have it overclocked, anything is stock. If it weren't for the sleep dilemma and the support difficulties, I would give the board 4 or five "eggs".

Fantastic board (so far), excellent overclocking alternatives, decent BIOS layout, USB 3. support from an NEC controller (which is freakin' rapid). I've had the motherboard for 5 months and so far is hasn't given me any difficulties. Had no difficulties with 1st boot either. Even though it was not needed, I'm in the habit of updating the BIOS as soon as I get a new motherboard, and I had no problems undertaking that with this board. Board runs cool, has enough connections for every little thing I need, and tons of USB ports/headers. Tons of room around the CPU socket for large aftermarket heatsinks. General I discover the board to be neatly laid out. JMicron SATA version 3 Ɩ. Gbps) controller. It just plain doesn't function. Hooked up a 6. Gbps Western Digital HDD to it to use as my primary boot drive. For the duration of the few uncommon situations exactly where the HDD was actually recognized on the SATA 6Gbps ports, Windows 7 refused to install on the drive without failure. It would either crash or the OS would grow to be corrupt. One time I did get Windows installed successfully but then the motherboard refused to enable to OS to boot from that drive. As long as I avoided employing the 6Gbps SATA ports, I had no complications. This not genuinely a complaint, but this board doesn't have any IDE/PATA ports. That's not generally a big deal, nevertheless I had an excellent optical drive (NEC ND-3550A) which I continued to use simply because of its speed and reliability. Unfortunately it is an IDE drive, and seeing as to how this board does not have any IDE ports, I was no longer in a position to use the drive. I should have noticed that when I bought the board. Whoops. Oh properly, no biggie. Haven't tried much more than 6GB of RAM on this program, so I don't know if the board will encounter complications recognizing more than 8GB of RAM, comparable to what other reviewers wrote. Haven't had any other memory issues to speak of. I'm employing three sticks of Corsair TR3X6G1600C7 G RAM. Color scheme of the board could be superior, but that's just getting nitpicky. Core i7 930 runs fine at both two.8 GHz and 3. GHz (haven't however tried greater than that). I hope the board continues to be trustworthy, since motherboard stability is one thing I get incredibly paranoid about. I haven't tried transferring tons of information more than the network, so I don't know if the Marvell NICs will cr*p out and lock up like some reviewers stated. Wish it had more PCI 1x slots. Cost is kinda steep. I miss the days when 贬 got you an extreme high-finish board, LOLZ.Core i7 930, 6GB Corsair DDR3-1600 RAM, GeForce 8800GT, SoundBlaster X-Fi sound card ࿠MB X-RAM), Samsung 1TB drive, WD 1TB drive, Lite-On SATA optical drive.

It functions flawlessly and cool as soon as you set it up correctly. I love the programs it includes that manages your OC settings or it could also configure it to power savings where the laptop or computer will be a lot cooler! My computer system's temperature averages to 30 on idle and 45 beneath load It doesn't specify that the on board speaker isn't connected. Do not forget to connect it or you won't know if the mobo is posting. Also, the SATA three. ports are placed in a weird way. make confident you connect the memory in the Right slot or the memok light will remain on and the laptop or computer will NOT boot. I would've rated the mobo five stars if it wasn't for all the particular things like the speaker I read that people today were getting troubles with RAM not getting recognized but it's primarily due to the fact of older models. the new BIOS included which as for now is the 1009 version, it supports about 99% of the DDR3 memory out there on the market place. Make confident you read the manual STEP BY STEP and there will be no troubles with setup.

I have bought two of these motherboards, and both of them are working good with zero troubles. Even the raid arrays have been wonderful. None! I tried raid 1 & 10 on other boards with limited success, but with this board and some WD 640GB hd's I have had zero issues.

Wonderful layout on this board. Worked for every thing I want anyway. USB3 and SATA 6GB will be applied soon adequate. All RAM slots perform, just make confident you use the appropriate ones for the quantity of RAM you are utilizing!!! (See other evaluations).RAID 1 w/ ƒ) RE3's, i7 930, 6GB OCX, 2GB GDDR5 Sapphire, DVD/BluRay, CM Sniper case... Just wish there had been far more USB headers on the MB for the leading of my Sniper case. Kinda ran out of places to plug in. Just obtain it and set it up properly. May take some time researching on a forum. Also quite a few bad critics on right here to actually judge by what they say. Trust me this is a good board for the enthusiast or gamer!

I like virtually every single thing about the board except for the Marvell 9123 Sata III controller and ASUS Tech Help The Marvell Sata III controller (Port ) will not let for a Sata III SSD drive (Crucial C300) to be detected by Windows 7 x64. I've read several other postings that state related outcomes.I am extremely ticked off at ASUS tech support as they have misled me into a costly, time-consuming RMA of the board which did not help, failed to adhere to via with RMA processes, and were rude to me, and even hung up on me. They also promissed that I would get an Engineering Request form to have the challenge looked into, but I never received anything.I also tried contacting Marvell, but that was a disaster. Vital agreed to replace my two 128GB SSDs for a single 256GB SSD to hopefully solve the issue. I would not recommend this board for any person thinking of working with the SATA III controller. I will almost certainly by no means get another ASUS product mainly because of this.

I'm sure this is a good motherboard, so I wouldn't recommend you don't get it if you want to spend the cash. (See prior positive testimonials.) If this is a wonderful motherboard I wouldn't know. When I put mine together it wouldn't recognize the memory (CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB Ɠ x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel.) Bad board. So I return it. But, stupid me, I had already mailed the rebate. Newegg can't tell that I bought it from them with out the UPC label, consequently they would not honor the RMA. I'm out of luck. Moral to the story: Don't obtain a thing mainly because of a mail in rebate. Get it simply because the product is what you want. Newegg does say that I really should go to the manufacturer for a replacement. But, since they could care much less about my satisfaction, they're taking their sweet time mailing my defective board back to me ƕ to 10 business days).

Has tons of features and most importantly works. 1st 1 didn't function, no POST. Sent it back to newegg and received new 1 in a week. Second board at initially looked fine to me before I tried to install Windows 7 Pro. My main drive (Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC128MAG-1G1) and secondary Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS 2TB 7200 RPM each plugged in SATA3 ports, had been not recognized by Windows installer. 1. Plugged SSD into SATA2 (and unplugged Seagate HDD)two. Installed Windows 7 on SSD 3. Downloaded firmware and updated BIOS4. Plugged each SSD and HDD back in SATA 3, and anything worked fantastic. Finally :) I named ASUS assistance couple of occasions but they have no notion how to help buyers. Just tell you to send board back. If you having problems with SATA three, just update BIOS.

Ofcourse this is a wonderful get, looks stunning. could not operate suitable out of box, but hey who doesnt want to wait another two weeks for a product that works to be shipped to you. wish they checked appropriately the very first time, too high priced to be dealing with manufacturing flaws. Opening your box to locate a defective product is the worst. you wait a week to get it, now you have to send it back, wait three-four days processing and they send you yet another, so it ends up taking another two weeks to lastly use the computer. If you want a thing to function right out of the box.... may possibly not be this one, i recieved a defective board. Goodluck though finding a far better lengthy term item.

. . forgot to mention last post...For the guy w / ide dvdrw... get 1 of those affordable pci ide hd drv raid boards. I put my high excellent ide dvd drv on it and works fine (reading / burning). Won't boot from though !So you do require 1 of the garb ฤ specials sata dvdrw's (etc) for cd/dvd booting (on this bd functions fine). Those affordable burners are fine. BUT! They do not burn cdrw / dvdrw's w / out errors. Tried countless linux install dvdrw's from iso files and they all fail (work excellent burned w / ide unit) !
