This is a truly fantastic performing motherboard, supports i7, 24GB RAM, has 2 PCI Express x16 slots which can run at Dual x16 mode, which is wonderful. There is also sufficient space about the CPU to match a Enormous Cooler such Noctua NH-D14. The price tag appears to be quite good as well. The major challenge with this motherboard is the way the PCI Express slots are positioned. If you are planning on installing additional than 1 powerful Video Card, which would be the intent of any individual purchasing a Dual PCI E x16/x16 motherboard, then you are asking for trouble. I installed two eVGA GTX 570's in SLI in each slots and they are so close from every single other that there is no space involving them. This triggered GPU1 to run at 98-100C and the GPU2 at 88C when below load. This is a failed PCI E x16 slot position. The cards run hot and they are so close from every single other that they will ultimately cook every single other. I imply 98-100C is way also considerably... you could boil you eggs! Thanks to NewEgg for creating the return process such an uncomplicated process. I received my refund and a totally free shipping label to send the motherboard back.NewEgg: 5 Golden EggsAsus: three Golden Eggs

The board is fairly a lot effectively place collectively, no difficulties with installation and in fact it was easier than prior boards I've had in that the pop in cover for the back case was the easiest I've ever noticed to mate up the board to. I also like the new style of slot for the ram, having just one side that unclips performs very effectively. There's a lot significantly less chance of damaging the board or ram just attempting to insert it. It's also a really heavy board, which indicates some actual metal in the cooling technology applied, which is backed up by its performance. I installed it with the accompanying ssd drive from the combo deal, and it was a cinch! Extremely quick as well. I'm impressed with the bios also, getting capable to save config files is good. The onboard LED's are good also, you at least know at what step in the method the gear is in to some degree throughout bootup. The only big point I don't like is the color scheme, but the LED's from my case light it up nicely sufficient. Minor thing I don't like is that specific custom settings in bios are not explained very effectively on screen, so you don't genuinely know what you're receiving if you make a transform. The motherboard mfg could premake some (safe) configs that would function beneath several circumstances and components- possibly varying in efficiency levels or classes of hardware as a fundamental guide for those that want the ideal whether overclocked or not. Overall, quite properly setup. The instructions are clear adequate, also generic sufficient that you could use them with just about any motherboard- except for the board photos. It would be nice to have the consequences of the a variety of bios settings explained a lot more totally in the guidelines and what they would be employed for, but that's expecting too significantly of their technical writing dept.

Study the box. five year warranty and Military grade electronics. It's not flashy, but it's a workhorse. Make sure you have appropriate ventilation more than the North Bridge heat sink. This is a con only simply because there was no mention of this anywhere in the docs that came with the board and I had to find out this on my personal: Make positive you have ample airflow in your case in certain over the NB heatsink as it runs hot at idle (see beneath). In my technique, the NB is surrounded by the CPU heat sink, three sticks of SDDR3 3x4GB @ 1600, and a pair of video cards. This impeded the airflow around the NB heat sink.I mounted this mobo in case in which I required to remove the side 120mm fan due to the CPU cooling program, this fan takes place to sit more than directly more than the NB heat sink. When I turned on the program I located the NB temp at ㅿc at idle, which is well inside spec but hotter than I want. (while gaming: ㆑c - no good)I modified my install to put the side mount fan back in place and now the NB temp is ㅴc at idle (ㅹc gaming). A lot greater, but nevertheless warm. I ordered a 40mm fan to attach straight to the heatsink to see if I can boost upon that.

Built top quality is higher. Nicely known brand means less support difficulties later on. The normal PCI slot is there but not really. just about all GPUs nowadays take two slots which signifies you'd shed the PCI slot.Military theme is not my factor but who cares, it possibly yours Initially one was defective, it looked to have a bent pin on CPU socket. I've completed some study and I guess this was a prevalent situation with these boards. I had to spend ป to ship it back and wait two weeks. It sucked looking all the other components and not becoming in a position to finish my construct. But then once again, I would have paid significantly far more $$$ if it wasnt for Newegg's price tag. I am all round happy with this board.

great board but 2nd day of actual use it did fail.purchased it from newegg and they handeld swap as constantly good built for consumer and board failed after 2nd day of truly operating. about 28 days following recieving. elements and then shipped out to buyer I guess they have a batch of bad ones out but that can come about to any firm. two issues to keep in mind or assume about. How the corporation you bought from handles it and how the manufacturer handles it. Newegg and one particular other are the two ideal at handling negative things and asus you can in fact contact and they do not argue or try to blame you or something, for these 2 causes they are the greatest

Clean layout. No IDE plugs and ribbons (Yes, it's a pro). A lot of SATA connections. Swift charge over USB is quite handy with my iPhone.Every little thing posted and booted up on very first power. Initially only 1 stick of RAM was showing up, but reseating my RAM fixed that and all 6GB posts now. BIOS update from a saved ROM file on your HD is great, I'm utilised to obtaining to use boot disks. Love being capable to save several BIOS settings as nicely.RAID performs excellent. But you must also download Intel's Fast Storage software for the ICH10R. This is not on the ASUS web site, but off Intel's. The RST software permits all the RAID BIOS functions from a windows GUI. It also rebuilds arrays substantially more quickly than the normal Matrix driver. Overclocking in BIOS is a tad overwhelming. I had to read the manual to figure out ASUS' trademark naming scheme. OC settings for CPU and RAM could be organized and labeled in a clearer manner. They give you every single choice to alter, but could have worked on organization better.I haven't touched OCing yet, nevertheless producing sure my backup storage drives are installed correctly and my files are secure before attempting to crash windows. I had an EVGA X58 3XSLI. The cooling fan died (never purchasing a MB with a cooling fan once again), I lost my RAID five after updating the BIOS, and had intermittent disk failures right after that related solely to the SATA controller flaking out. This ASUS replaced it, and I'm extremely pleased with it just in initial setup.Everything posted and Windows began up on the 1st boot, merely by migrating more than CPU, RAM, and HDs. All chipset drivers installed with out a challenge, devoid of even getting a fresh win 7 install. I haven't even touched Overclocking yet, but I'm amazed with how numerous possibilities are provided.i7 920 (stock speedƠGB OCZ RAM 񡺪ၞGB OCZ Agility 2 Boot drive4x1TB HDDs in RAID 5Win 7 642x ATI 5870s in CrossFire Ɠ monitor Eyefinity)

Crossfire works better than expected. crossfired 2 xfx 6970s yes they are sandwiched together but temps are within purpose. maxium temps are 80c both cards beneath heavy load. Set the fans to 60% they keep at 75c load. none 5 year warranty is not as excellent as lifetime but it's superior than what most are offering correct now.

Fantastic specs: USB three., SATA 6Gb/s, eight channel audio out, 2 eSATA ports The very first 1 I purchased worked fantastic for 2 days, then it wouldn't boot. CPU and RAM error LEDs had been lit on the mobo. I replaced the RAM as properly as the CPU the issue wasn't fixed. I got a new mobo and once more, exact same dilemma right after two days. I do not ever strategy on purchasing an additional ASUS mobo. The error LEDs make solving mobo problems simpler and trust me, you will make complete use of these LEDs if you obtain this mobo.

This is a quite decent MB, and extremely sturdy. SATA III and USB 3. are good functions, but the assistance isn't very there however. Assistance for six core CPUs, and 24 gigs of RAM implies this board has the capacity to make your process very quick. BIOS is solid and straightforward to navigate. The onboard sound is fair, but not wonderful, not surprisingly. If you set up only two or 3 DIMMS of RAM, make positive you use the slots specified in the manual, otherwise it won't register all of them. Some people have complained about the flexibility of the heat sinks, but they appear fine to me. The SATA ports face the drive bays as an alternative of becoming at a 90 degree angle. I truly like this, but it could pose a difficulty if you're using a tiny or cramped case.Lastly, there are TWO four-pin plugs in the upper left of the board, but a single is covered with a plastic cap. Make certain you remove the cap and plug in Both in order to get total energy. There are 3 USB 2. headers, but NO USB three. headers. The OS WILL NOT BOOT from drives connected to the SATA III ports. The Marvell controller is separate from the major BIOS, and I spent hours frustratedly attempting to discover what I was carrying out wrong before ultimately realizing that it just won't perform for that. You have to connect the drive with your OS to 1 of the SATA II ports. I'm deducting 1 egg since the SATA III ports are only very good for storage, not for your OS. Hopefully an upcoming BIOS update will adjust that. The PCI slot is situated correct in between the very first two PCI-e slots, so don't count on utilizing it if you're employing a large video card, or employing SLI/Crossfire. I can't consider what I'd use a PCI slot for, so it's not a con to me, but a thing to be conscious of. The CPU fits fairly tightly in the ZIF slot, which had me pretty concerned at initial, but I guess it's normal. Just a thing to be conscious of. All in all this is a really fantastic board with help for newer technologies, but the support is incomplete. Make sure you update the BIOS prior to installing anything, and verify for BIOS updates usually, as they may well release updates to correct some of the problems. I would suggest this board for new builders or for these wanting a extremely quick system without paying to be on the bleeding edge of engineering.

Economical X58 motherboard. Fantastic BIOS for overclockers and tweakers. Straightforward installation. Excellent drivers and diagnostic tools on the included CD. Looks cool. I had to RMA the initially board due to the fact the CPU LED and RAM LED would remain on. I suspect a short on the board. Second board arrived with bent CPU pins in the 1366 socket and because of that one particular of the RAM banks weren't detected. Still functioning on Very carefully fixing the bent pins. ASUS high quality control on these boards seems questionable. This is a great motherboard, and if you get a single that operates the initial time take into account yourself lucky. I am going to try to fix the bent socket pins, since I don't want to invest the extra dollars and time on one more RMA. Wish me luck!

Close to great board, if only ASUS’s technical assistance matched. Received board with a faulty LAN card. Right after consulting with ASUS technical help they advised I send it to them. They tested and considered it defective and told me they would be sending me a new 1 inside ten days. On the 10th day I was informed that they did not have any offered and were going to replace it with a lesser top quality motherboard. Certainly I turned down this present. I have been told they can not give me an ETA on when they can replace my Sabertooth X58 and they refuse to reimburse the purchase.

Good features. Low profile heatsinks on the northbridge which permits for an oversized aftermarket HSF. Lots of factors to tinker with in the BIOS. The 2-PCIx x16 slots are waaaay to close with each other. Makes SLI almost impossible unless you go the water cooling route due to the fact that there is no space amongst the best and the bottom card (when I had this in SLI, the major card was an common of ㅌc hotter than the bottom card).

Function set is really comparable to a board like a rampage III. Would have been superior if the leading PCI-E 1x had been place between the first and second PCI-E two. slots so you had a little far more room with graphics cards.1366 Sockets are ridiculous. If you haven't worked with a 1366, just be incredibly conscious of the pins. When I 1st received my board I thought it was DOA mainly because it wouldn't post, turned out to be the energy provide that was poor, but before I tested the energy supply, I had currently taken off the heatsink and CPU. When I was removing the CPU I lost my grip on it and it fell into the socket, bending a couple of the pins, when I picked it up with my finger I pressed on a number of other pins as nicely, causing additional harm. In the end I was able to bend them all back into location with a great magnifying glass, light, and pair of fine tipped tweezers. I'm not giving any person guidance here on how to fix bent pins if they encounter them, but that worked for me, and it's crucial that you have a steady hand and don't try to force anything. Feature set looks fairly wealthy, haven't even looked by means of every little thing but, but anytime I've looked in the BIOS for anything I've managed to come across it there.

Good seeking board, sturdy, BIOS update was easy Capacitor noise is intolerable, padded faceplate a good idea but faulty execution I am studying to be an audio engineer, so I need to have a computer that plays nicely with pro audio equipment. The Sabertooth has produced me rethink working with computers for recording. This develop is the heart of my property studio, and tends to make recording and mixing impossible - read on.There is such a sturdy capacitor whine (more like squeal) when the CPU is not below complete load. After attempting endless cable routing methods, getting a second Furman energy conditioner, and testing 3 (THREE!) new energy supplies, I narrowed down the source of the noise to the motherboard. The only selection to get rid of the noise is to disable C1E in bios, but this leads to a hotter processor and more energy draw. Altogether, this has been the worst knowledge with a motherboard I have ever had. My MSI boards did not have this problem, neither did my construct with a Gigabyte mobo.I contacted Newegg and obtained RMA. If the second board has the very same signs and symptoms, I'm going to acquire a Gigabyte board rather.

Decent bios can overclock nicely adequate. Final the look o so killer in a HAF 932. You shed a pci slot with a big G Card (dont realize why they cant solve that). North bridge runs HOT but there is a threaded hole there so pull a smaller fan outa n old G Card n place it in. There's even a plug for it proper there, challenge solved. The board is very simple to install and had ample input selections. The board was chosen for a construct based on the high quantity of USB inputs and affordable price. The initially board I recieved had too much lamination over the grounding holes and prevented the board from grounding to the situation. Following manually opening these up the board would boot, but would not hold an overclock on XMP Corsair RAM. It soon failed shortly without having being in a position to boot on demand with no resetting the CMOS every single time.NewEgg returned the item as usual with no a fuss and the second board worked fine. This set a customer's build date back by a couple of weeks mainly because of the delay. The subsequent board will be a GigaByte. It is a excellent board, but recieving a DOA unit can ruin your day. Contemplate the GigaByte alternative when buying, I will wait till their subsequent revisions ahead of I attempt ASUS once more.

Decent value for a 1366 socket MB (that would perform...) Installed on a 700W ATX OCZ PSU that functions 100%. Would not post. Fans (including CPU) would move at variable speed and all three LEDs (Video, Memory and Processor) would blink. Seemed like someone was turning on/off the power or there was a massive power consumption. Mem OK button made the fans turn at continuous normal speed but LEDs had been nevertheless on. Took it out on a wood board, powered it, leave only 1 DDR3 stick in A1 slot, only processor, every little thing else not connected. Still very same behavior. Swapped ddrams, same. Took out bios battery, reset bios, same. Not even a sound, the 3 leds were still blinking and fans had intermitent speed. Inspected processor and saw that handful of contactors did not appear touched at all by the MB socket connectors. RMA-ed...
