> Extremely strong wireless signal. (located in the center of a 2,800 Sqft one level property and gets a powerful signal, 80-90% all through.) replaced my aging wrt54g> DD-WRT firmware accessible ( I was going to use DD-WRT but due to the fact the stock firmware worked so well I decided not to transform)> 4x Gigabit ethernet ports> USB port for printer sharing/ Network Challenging Drive(playing on the Xbox, downloading a 1 gb Torrent, and two other members of the household browsing and printing Wirelessly at the identical time - no lag at all) >The Wireless can drop out from time to time, but for me its not as often as other individuals have indicated, and it has never ever droped when everybody in the house is on line. (strange I know)> Stock Firmware Interface is a little really hard to navigate, if your use to Linksys or D-Link, but you get use to it (Linux based) > No 5ghz support ( on the other hand for longer variety 2.four is greater anyway, and suits my desires better) I would say that most of the low rating this solution has are do to people not reading the directions when they open it. (they have a plug and play mentality)If you can get a steady DD-WRT its worth the work but for me I discovered the stock firmware not so undesirable, (after the initial setup naturally that could want rather a handful of reboots.)It truly need to get 4 eggs offered the Cons stated above, but once you get the software in line the hardware, it performs like a champ, and so I believe it deserves five eggs. Its performs wonderful when troubleshooting is over, no matter if run DD-WRT or Stock firmware (they each have their quirks)

Worked as advertised and only took about 20-25 minutes to set up. Wireless signal is full strength across my house and on different levels. I personally saw a large overall performance increase, since I was coming off of a really old Linksys 802.11-b wireless router with ten럼 ports. Prior to the upgrade I was receiving four.81 download / two.65 upload on my laptop. Now I am acquiring 28.95 download / 7.98 upload making use of 802.11-n on my laptop. My wired gaming Pc is a bit quicker then that. I did see noticable lower in pings when browsing gaming servers.I am employing Windows 7 64-bit OS and had zero challenges. My encounter could be unique then most, coming off of the older wireless typical. But, so far this unit performed above my expectations. No complaints from me at all.I had the advantage of being aware of someone who set-up one particular of these routers and spent hours attempting to get it proper . So, he gave me some suggestions, and following following his tips I had it set-ip and functioning in no time. (see under). The sheer amount of settings may well be overwhelming for some people. 1: See the CD and "quick commence" guide in the box? Leave them there .two: Turn off your Pc and disconnect your old router (if present). You can also turn off your modem (I didnt , as mine has battery back-up).3: Connect the router to the internet cable coming from the modem. Plug the energy cord in for the router to energy it up.4: *Important* Stroll away for 5 minutes prior to doing anything else. This router requires a few minutes to effectively boot up for the first time. 5 minutes ought to be a lot of time.5: Plug the cable from router into the Pc and turn on the Pc. Let Windows locate the new network and set it to your preference form (Home in my case).Your router is now functioning with your wired device. Now, you can either go into the net primarily based settings page and change the SSID name and the encryption essential.. or , use the one provided on the sticker on the router. Turn on your laptop, uncover the SSID and sort in the important. Done. Play with settings as you like.Hope that helps

1) Picked up at a great price2) DD-WRT3) quite an array of options in dd-wrt, real good4) add what you need if it is not there immediately after gainging priviledged accessfive) great signal strength, no difficulties Very shiny case shows dust and fingerprints, but I don't have mine on displayAn endless variety of possibilities may not be great for everyone I'd obtain it once again, specifically at some of the deal rates I have observed. I just don't need one more correct now. I had fun thrashing by way of all the alternatives, fairly substantially bricked it, did a reset, started over and set it up for what I needed now that I was familiar. That's all exciting to me. It has been routing wireless for over a month and I haven't revisited it. As Ron Popeil says, "Set it and forget it!"

Quickly Gigabit connectionSupports multi-SSID'sGreat attributes for the funds (got mine when it was on sale with cost-free shipping)Excellent wireless range, wireless G desktop in the basement has sturdy adequate signal to retain 54g connection. My Linksys wrt54g couldn't preserve steady connection to the basement. The factory firmware is not user friendly, specially for someone new to setting up wireless router for very first time.No security for blocking websites by URL or keyword phrases, this was incredibly handy function on my Linksys wrt54g, less difficult to block at the router than having to touch each little ones Computer. Hopefully future firmware update will address this. Also want the LAN ports had visible hyperlink light. Although the factory firmware is not best, I have been employing the stock firmware 1.72 for five+ months, only difficulties I've had is from time to time, PS3 shared crucial get out of sync, it usually appears to resolve itself with out possessing to reboot the router, don't come about incredibly generally to be concerned about. As numerous have stated, to make setup go simple, it least for me, make sure the router back switch is in "on" position not "auto", also have "AOSS" and "WPS disabled.I would purchase this router again.

Comparatively uncomplicated to set-up and use. Extremely good signal range and strength for our common size property. Operates nicely our laptops, smartphones and wireless printers. Online router set-up, management and diagnostic tools are fine for the typical user. The router seems "plastic and low cost" in construction. The stand does not lock with the router.

It operates, and it's not that high-priced, comes with a quite latest construct of DD-WRT preinstalled so you don't have to place it on there your self. No 5ghz spectrum! This is practically worth taking off two eggs by itself. The 2.4ghz is crowded so 5ghz would be very great where I live. The DD-WRT for this router DOES NOT have repeater bridge solution. This is a key disappointment . I bought this pondering that it had all the characteristics of much more expensive routers with none of the disadvantages. I am discovering out that this is not proper. It's only been two days and I have already spotted two points that have seriously saddened me. On the other hand, the main reason I purchased this is to have really lengthy range. I have not tested this portion of it however, and if it does have superior range then I will not be sorry that I purchased it. Overall, I believe that most folks will be much better off buying some other router for their wants.

USB assistance, gigabit, reasonably priced value, wireless-n, dd-wrt support, OpenWrt support. Couldn't come across a stable version of dd-wrt or Buffalo's firmware. The router would freeze each 3-6 hours such that I couldn't use the web, access the router, or use the network. The only speedy repair was manually restarting the router. I only paid ็ for this router and I was wanting to return it. Even with the default configuration I had this issue I decided to try OpenWrt Backfire 10.03 on the router. I haven't had a single dilemma with it. Buffalo ought to have superior assistance for such a widespread difficulty with their routers. This router deserves five eggs if it actually worked as advertised out of the box, and I'd almost certainly be prepared to pay additional.

The initially factor I have to say about this router is that its powered by Atheros. Whilst some people write that this factor is undesirable, it is indeed very great. Incredibly good for the price tag in reality. I can get reception out in my parking lot. Its preloaded with full ddwrt. I thought I would have to flash it. It has the choice on the disk to downgrade to the uncomplicated buffalo firmware. It has 64 MB of ram and 32 mb of rom. The CPU is clocked at 400 MHZ. Complete gigabit on all ports. Excellent style. I upgraded to this from a Linksys WRT350N. The major distinction between the two, is that the wrt350n is powered by a incredibly bad broadcom chip. In my time, I have found broadcom chips to be not as great as Atheros. The 350N also had a usb port, but a ten럼 wan link. Which does not matter. My main cause for the upgrade was for the Atheros chipset and total ddwrt assistance. This router has not let me down. The range of the wifi is just incredible. Also, I had it in my house in three days flat. I have not located a single flaw. I do wish they would have allowed for replaceable antennas but I dont care as it operates great to start with. When I say I want the replaceable antennas its for working with a huge reflective dish. Not a little "High Acquire"antenna. If your taking into consideration receiving this, please don't get scared by the few poor testimonials. People have been yelling about working with this router with comcast. I have comcast and had no concern. It might have been their modem quite most likely. I own a Moto 6120 and have no challenges. I practically place of obtaining this since a few bad reviews. But I went with logic, fantastic specs, Atheros powered and DDWRT preloaded. I was right. It has confirmed to be a good strong router.

When it functions, it's got strong signal.Gigabit LAN portsCapability to attach HDs ideal to the unitwhen you get 300 connection it is wonderfullikely a couple of other factors. tends to drop connections like a hot potato. Will go for a while and then keeps dropping, usually not even letting you reconnect unless you reboot the router, which you have to do manually as you can't get to the admin screens.poor implementation of attaching HDs to unit.horrible VPN implementation.poor DD-WRT implementation (you can't just use any DD-WRT, has to be produced for this unit)seriously, this factor is amazingly frustrating with the WiFi connectivity challenges.existing firmware dumps from 300 to  at the slightest breezeoverall poor admin interface (port forwarding, static IP set-up, and so forth)more stuff but not going to bother. I was a Big Buffalo supporter/fan getting come from the awesome WHR-HP-54G operating DD-WRT. Thought this would be the bomb. Buffalo is ignoring TONS of requests to get a decent firmware out that doesn't drop wireless connections (I paid over 贓 when this was new, now it's ์), if they'd just fix that I would be pleased, but they won't EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE Situation in their forums.I recommend routers and components to many, several good friends, I don't believe I will suggest (nor obtain for myself) Buffalo again. I will have to do some significant research ahead of I touch any of their merchandise in the future...which is sad.

Sleak style, quickly transfer speeds. Initial firmware created packet loss and dropped connections with household network. Resolved with new firmware. I bought this router for generating a household network. I have many Windows 7 Computer's and wanted to stream content material to my XBox360 through wireless. Setting up the home group enabled the streaming, but there was continual buffering and signal loss. Right after updating to the newest firmware, the difficulties went away.

I heard excellent factors about these, a buddy of mine has a single. They come shipped with dd-wrt which is nice I suppose. The support for dd-wrt is what I appreciate. The signal penetration was noticeably stronger when compared to my previous wrt54g v2 operating dd-wrt. It feels low cost. Not certain how else to say but it is so light it just had a low cost really feel to it. Without having touching it even though, the appear is great and sleek but holding it I was expected much more weight. Not a big deal seriously even though.

It has everything you could ever want in a router. Gigabit speeds, 802.11n, a usb port, and open source software program. Firmware. No matter which firmware you throw on this, regardless of whether its Buffalo's original, dd-wrt. or open-wrt, nothing at all seems to perform. For the past year, I have however to have a single day where the router did not drop a connection or go into a vicious rebooting cycle. It's been six months and Buffalo still has no concept on how to right a bug that tends to make connecting to Comcast a royal pain. Though it may possibly have amazing elements, the router's lack of help by way of firmware makes this router totally useless. Because this router's release, Buffalo has absolutely dropped the ball in terms of software program releasing buggy and feature-missing updates. This is my first and final Buffalo solution.

Looks excellent on paper and is capable of just about anything you could ever want a router to do. Just don't ask it to preserve a continuous wireless signal.... Buffalo firmware is sketchy. Thought this thing was wonderful out of the box. Pretty straight forward setup if you are tech savvy. Following a week, knowledgeable a wireless broadcast dropout so reset and kept an eye on it. 5 days later exact same factor. A get in touch with to tech support created me uncomfortable with the willingness of the help to recommend a replacement virtually instantly. Passed and tried a couple of his ideas even although I didn't believe they would operate. They didn't and now I'm RMA'ing this thing due to the fact now it won't hold a broadcast for an whole day. For your time and cash you're better off seeking elsewhere for your wireless n.

I've installed 6 of these units this year. I have used this as a router & as an more access point. I use the most recent obtainable firmware from Buffalo and whilst not fairly, seems to be really stable. Able to be wall mounted a plus. DD-WRT software program seems to be buggy. All changes call for restart.

Choice to run DD-WRT or Buffalo Tech friendly firmware. Began out with factory-installed Buffalo Tech DD-WRT firmware. Router signal kept dropping out for no apparent purpose. Tried distinct settings but it did not matter. Applied the supplied install CD to change the firmware to "friendly" version 1.74 and then the router behaved like an old dial-up connection. I went back to DD-WRT and adjusted more settings, but the signal kept dropping out. Went to Buffalo Tech website and downloaded friendly firmware version 1.76. The signal did not drop out but the signal strength dropped down 6 dB lower than what it was with DD-WRT. This is supposed to be a high power router, but the signal level is incredibly underwhelming! I have an old Linksys WRT-54G that I installed DD-WRT on. The signal level from that five year old router is 6-8 dB higher than from the Buffalo Tech router. Quite disappointing.

With DD-WRT firmware, wireless is rock solid, and navigation of the menus & settings is vastly improved. This is the 2nd 1 I've had exactly where wired (NOT wireless) connections have stopped working. I don't know if the internal switches in these issues are going or what, but all of a sudden, no wired connections will perform. A reboot doesn't fix it. The first one particular lasted longer, but this one particular only held out for about 2 weeks. I've emailed support, we'll see what occurs, but at this point, I'm performed with Buffalo goods. I won't re-has the characteristics list, but it has almost everything you need for a residence network, and then some. Mine had DD-WRT as the default firmware. Took me much less than ten minutes to do my initial configuration & swap it in spot of my old router. Anything on my network (even wifi devices) reconnected without a hitch. None so far. Upgraded to this from my venerable WRT-54GL which also ran DD-WRT. Good to finally make full use of my most important Computer's network adapter capabilities, and I was overdue for Wireless N in the home.I just require to upgrade my switches to gigabit & I'll be set.

Wired networking is superb. Wireless leaves a bit to more to be desired. After a few months of continuous use, it started to drop  about every 48 hours. I'm using the stock dd-wrt fw that came with it and it's used for media streaming (mainly videos) and gaming.

This would get 5 stars if not for the difficulty in setting it up. I only needed an AP as my DSL modem does the other stuff reasonably well, and i spent maybe 3 hours playing with settings in the ddwrt version of the firmware without success - after that I moved it to the "friendly" version and it worked like a charm. Otehrwise, stable and everything - though I have a problem actually seeing a difference in connecting from the difficult spots, just as with my old WRT54G... so where the extra power goes I don't know, but I did not see it...
