Comment:
Quickly, simple to use, operates as expected. I get 600Mbps+ transfer speed on wired network with it even on just cat5 cables. Wireless is not as rapid of cource, but it is additional than adequate. Too quite a few switches to mess people up. The QOS/media switch and router switches might be great ideas in theory, but I'm sure they mess men and women up. I've had mine for over a year, both on "user-friendly" firmware and Buffalo sponsored DD-WRT firmware. It operates good on both and I get remarkable transfer speeds. It works so excellent that I've suggested it to numerous other individuals and it works great for them too. For critiques exactly where folks say wireless is bad I would guess they basically have to do a web site survey of other networks and change their channel.

Cons:Wireless connection a little unstable, reboots sometimes

Pros:Amazing wireless radio strength and performance!Comes with DD-WRT out-of-box

I have the WZR-HP-G300NH v1.0.I have been dying to find another router like this. I tried the AG300H, thinking it would have the same amazing performance with the additional benefit of dual band radios, but it performed terribly (50% weaker radio, 25Mbit turned into 1Mbit) and I had to return it for refund. They just don't make wireless routers like this anymore. This has a Gigabit LAN switch and amazing 2.4Ghz 802.11n performance. If you can get the first version of this router, treasure it, hold on to it forever. You will probably never find one like this again.

This router is excellent. The stock firmware works, and doesn't need to have to be updated to dd-wrt if you don't want to. However, the upgrade to dd-wrt was flawless, less complicated than the final router that I upgraded. Performance enhanced with dd-wrt, and the signal excellent got better. You won't be disappointed with this router. Stock firmware is OK. It will work if you are too lazy to install dd-wrt. It has all the functions you would anticipate. Wireless clients are 2 BB, iPod Touch, two desktops, 1 laptop, 1 wired BD player. By no means a problem when most devices are up and operating.

Gigabit Lan - amazingly quick when transferring files more than the house network.Wireless N - a massive boost from my older Buffalo G router. No complications streaming HD video to my Television on the other side of the home on the second floor, to my Wii downstairs, or with my laptops anyplace in the residence. None I stuck with the User Friendly version of Buffalo's firmware. Does everything I require it to do. My home network is not overly complex but not straightforward either. Have not tried making use of the USB Storage function but I will soon. If it works as intended, all I can say is "Sliced Bread watch out".

It runs on 12V DC? There is no version of DD-WRT which will not result in this factor's wireless interface freezing solid every 24 hours. Tried just about every version obtainable from Buffalo and the newest v16214 create. When it locks up the unit stops broadcasting its SSID entirely, no client device (g or n) can see it. It continues to route/NAT and you can nevertheless login to the device by a wired interface. Make any configuration alter to the wireless (such as changing from channel four to 8) and it magically returns for one more 24 hours. Buffalo tech help is absolutely useless. Why are they distributing a version of DD-WRT for this which they know has severe issues? Why even advertise that it can run DD-WRT? There's a lot of other folks who have observed specifically the similar issue with the wireless disappearing each 24 hours, and no firmware revision to solve it. The stock firmware is genuinely fundamental and looks like a thing you would find on a low-cost standard 100Mbps몺.11g router. I bought this thing to run DD-WRT, not the stock Buffalo firmware.

- Gigabit LAN- Robust wireless signal- DD-WRT preinstalledI bought this router from initial reviews on smallnetbuilder concerning its power and range. I have to say, the greatest thing about this router was its capacity to reach practically each spot in my residence with a powerful signal (not necessarily a clean signal, but robust). The router was installed in the corner of a basement near a Leviton property panel (cat5 drops, coax, etc) exactly where my prior Buffalo WHR-G54S sat. I have a wireless printer, two Win7 laptops (one with an Intel N card, the other an Atheros N card) and a Win XP desktop (wired). - Poor wireless signal top quality- Beta version of DD-WRT installed- Wireless radio crashes much more than If you're looking for a router that you can pull out of the box, setup with security, connect to and forget it for awhile, this one is most likely not for you. DD-WRT was installed out of the box, which was nice to have (many configuration settings, if you like to tamper). I just set up AES security, altered my channel to 9 (neighbors within range: 1 on CH1, two on CH6 and 1 on CH11) and changed my SSID. Inside the initial day ྸhrs) the wireless radio stopped transmitting a total of 3 occasions - every time I would have to reboot the router from my wired PC. According to the DD-WRT status page, the radio was on, however no clients were connected and the SSID was no longer getting broadcast. Even when attempting to force the clientele to connect if the SSID isn’t being broadcast (network adapter setting) they still would not connect (continued beneath). The only procedure that worked was to reboot the router, which would restart the wireless service. I later opted to install Buffalo “Friendly” firmware 1.76 (the most up-to-date offered on their web site) – [being rant] which by the way, Buffalo, if you’re listening, is ATROCIOUS. This may possibly be the worst looking firmware interface I have noticed in a long time, even worse than the one on my WHR-G54S. Seriously, stop undertaking a favor for your kid’s friend by letting him style the layout and hire a genuine designer. Take a few pointers form DD-WRT even, it’s so a lot simpler on the eyes. [end rant] Installing 1.76 ended with the very same fate, a complete failure of the wireless radio, albeit almost 24 hours later rather than 4.Sadly, this is where Buffalo and I part means. You have a fantastic item on paper, but when it comes to execution, you have left me quite disappointed. So, in summary, if you are seeking for a router that you can setup securely and use, this possibly isn't up you alley.

I bought two of these to replace my Linksys WRT-54G's. They come with DD-WRT Pro installed and setup was a BREEZE. I use one as my primary and the second 1 as a client bridge so I can connect wired devices on the other side of my house without getting to run wires all throughout my place. The range is outstanding. I altered to 40 MHz and my wireless throughput is 290 MBit/sec. The main reason I got these routers is since bittorrent would always lock up the WRT54G routers. So far so very good, I can download many files at when and the routers can handle it without any issue. Also, my wireless signal has been up and powerful since day 1. Some of these evaluations are saying there is a problem with the wireless dropping. I don't see it, my wireless is fantastic. A small pricy for non dual-band routers. This is my initial Buffalo brand purchase and I am extremely pleased. Of course Newegg had the greatest value with cost-free shipping.

It runs actually nicely, when it runs. Great range. This router cuts out on me every day, I have to reboot it in order to get a wireless signal. Also, my wireless G devices run super slow. I've tried every recognized configuration setting. It just doesn't work correct. Just about every time i plug in a regular wired device, the router freaks out, and connections time out continually. After getting some initial trouble with the factory firmware, I flashed to a beta version of dd-wrt, and it helped somewhat, though it is by no implies a stable router.

USB port can be configured to function with 3g Modem as WAN uplink if the router is flashed to DD-WRT BrainSlayer V24 preSP2 12-24-10-r15962. Net interface is straightforward. Excellent signal strength. NAS functions easily as nicely. Offers a lot of configuration alternatives. I purchased this router due to the fact I wanted to connect a ZTE MF637 3G modem on the WAN side. As mentioned above this works wonderful with no difficulties immediately after flashing the stock Buffalo firmware to a different firmware readily available on the DD-WRT website. The flashing approach was simple. The internet configuration is not complicated (for manual configuration) as extended as you are familiar with standard concepts of networking configuration i.e. - WAN, LAN Wireless security strategies, DHCP, DNS. If you are on Windows the integrated CD has a wizard to config the router. It's genuinely not tough in particular if you are in a standard environment. No complaints whatsoever about this router. The 'rabbit ears' are not aesthetically pleasing but not a big deal. Not for a total novice with no experience in setting up a router and network.I have read other reviews claiming that this is hard to configure such as 1 by a individual with supposed network encounter. I have a difficult time understanding what was challenging about the config. Granted the browser based config is organized somewhat differently from D-Link or NetGear but it's not challenging to figure out. I suppose that if you aren't familiar with basic networking and aren't comfy undertaking manual configuration it may well be difficult. That becoming said you can transform the net config to a a lot more user friendly version which provides much less selections. The NAS option worked very easily. Even so, it appeared to only detect one partition on my external 500GB drive (which was EXT3 by the way). So I would recommend that if you want to use the NAS you make confident the drive is a single partition. I run this router on a home network with Linux, WinXP, iPad, Kindle and Android telephone all as wireless customers. No issues whatsoever. Functions excellent. Extremely pleased as I was specifically searching to be in a position to transform the configuration utilizing DD-WRT as mentioned above. Lots of advanced functions if you want them.

None, compared to the competition. It has 4 gigabit ports? It runs on a 12V power supply? I don't know what to write. Using any version of DD-WRT results in the 802.11n interface freezing solid every 24 hours. The unit stops broadcasting its SSID, can no longer be observed by any customers, but continues functioning as usual on its wired 1000Mbps interfaces. The identical outcomes are seen making use of the Buffalo supplied version of DD-WRT from Nov. 2010 or even a extremely recent version of DD-WRT, build 16214:ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2񳏋቞-17-11-r16214/buffalo_wzr-hp-g300nh/There is no feasible mixture of wireless settings that will not result in it locking up each 24 hours. 802.11n only, 802.11g only, without WPA2, with WPA2, WPA2 TKIP, WPA2 AES, anything. When it locks up you can login to the admin page by wired interface and perform any config chagne to the wireless that results in the interface going "Down" then "up" once more, such as altering the channel from 4 to 8. This magically bring back the wireless interface. Numerous other persons have reported the exact very same problem. Buffalo tech support is completely useless.

rapid- each my wireless and wired speeds have improved over my old ten럼 wireless n 鳖mbps)-wired-am employing cat5 cable with a powerline adapter in the middle. ahead of I was maxing at two.5Mbps with file transfer, now 7mbps. I will soon attempt a cat6 cable directly without having powerline (which i assume is my new slowest link, or the cat5) and anticipate even faster transferswireless- was utilizing wireless n 150mbps router for laptop, which has Acer Nplify (meaning it can handle the 300Mbps, more importantly, the 40mhz band.)-from reading by means of it was confusing but apparently the 40mhz is much better for devices that support it. (i may well be incorrect but maybe the 20mhz band could to? Im not a network guy) regardless, with out pretest, I changed the router to active the 20 and 40 mhz bands in g/n mixed mode and I get about 7.5Mbps when transferring from USB drive attached to router. Ive never ever had wireless that fast, I was happy with my prior 2Mbps down wireless, but this is good. lots of feature Difficult!!!!!Im not a network guy but I know much more than most, I create pc's for a living and repair different pc troubles all the time. Though Ive had no network coaching, I know my way around computers and software and figuring them out. I now know that this will take me a although before I get it all set up like I want. I really want to give advice to folks in regards to vpn but I just dont have them.Setting up the Net Access for the USB drive is fairly uncomplicated. Difficulty is, it is a web interface, and I really want to make a permanent network drive on my laptop, the straightforward way, with no logging on to a web page, so I can have a permanent network folder on my laptop wherever i go.I know this is doable, I just dont know how yet, not confident if openvpn is needed for that. hope not, cuz much more complex.USB DRIVE DOES NOT SUPPORT NTFS or exFAT. only FAT16, FAT32, XFS. this signifies that I had to, make a backup of my 1TB usb drive on computer, format my NTFS drive to exFAT,continued beneath then, hook up to router, (under user friendly-firmware), to format the drive in XFS (only way to have drive show up, at all and XFS WAS ONLY Solution FOR DRIVES Greater THAN 32GB! Then, nicely, am still transferring 750GB back to the usb drive by way of the router. Besides a time waster, no huge deal, but it does mean I cannot hook up my newly XFS drive back to the laptop or computer directly by way of USB. Windows can not read the XFS file technique with no some 3rd party ware (so i comprehend)They must have NTFS or exFAT support for actual tho.OVERALL.I like it, even with the complexities, and without having me getting it finalized like I intend to, it is greater, in various ways, than my not so old encore n router cheapo.By no means purchased buffalo, but anything about them feels premium. They even created some 150 page manuals. which is good, but they dont clarify everything. So,, Im taking networking :)I also purchased the ASUS RT-N16 but havent applied it but (for operate) is similar.will post evaluation soon compare

Works easily out of the box and has a friendly setup menu. We use it in our retail game store and occassionally sell wireless time with it. Don't lose the manual! I misplaced it about the time I set it up and was extremely thankful when I identified it and could reference things more quickly. Yes I could have looked issues up online, but the router itself didn't involve a lot in the way of identification details to make hunting it down on the net effortless. Setting and changing the WEP code was not as intuitive to my staff, but not tough.

It tries, but it fails horribly.Doesn't TranscodeEmployed to give issues when two xbox's tried to connect to xbox live. Given that has stopped. Not certain why. To be fair, I've only had minor concerns due to the fact my last evaluation, and I have not yet contacted Buffalo to see how a lot of can be resolved, but that would be due to the fact I've been busy performing other issues and not had time to play with the router. Hopefully by the finish of the month I can give a much better evaluation, but I just learned the mp3 problem and felt that it was type of crucial since I commented positively about the Media Player prior to. Manufacturer Response:anon, e-mail me so we can discuss. This is a potent router and ought to have no problems streaming HD content material, MP3s must be effortless. Are you making use of a N or G client? under the wireless/ standard tab look at your SNR to that client. something above 10 is usable. but you want it over 40 for finest performance. either you could have too a lot noise or a overused channel. you can check this by searching at "site survey" need to be on the bottom of that page. Also for xbox's, your NAT will be moderate by default. for best efficiency you will need to have to forward your port. here is the DD-WRT instructions for that. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Configuring_for_Xbox_360thanksMarcomarcor@buffalotech.com

I bought this router out of frustration. I had a wireless router setup for a business, started with a US Robotics one that I got rid of and replaced with a D-Link. The D-Link worked ok for a bit but then started having issues, so I "upgraded" them to a Linksys which had to be replaced by NCIX twice as a D.O.A. units. After that mess I was determined to get them the best router I could find "within reason" and this one came out as one of the highest recommended. I wasn't dissapointed, this thing has been flawless since I set it up. It is hooked to a pretty sketching satellite interenet service, and even though that system constantly fails, the router keeps on chugging along without problem.I also noticed the wireless speeds throughout the business improved tremendously, although to be honest I did notice a slight reduction in range over the other units.I have a Belkin N1 router for myself, and as soon as it gives me another reason to throw it out, its getting replaced with one of these.

High powered router, gigabit LAN, Buffalo's custom DD-WRT firmware is brilliant and better than the factory supplied firmware. Wireless-N works wonderful, exact same for G. USB port for printer sharing or NAS. Can be wall mounted (includes screws). I'm not entirely positive it's the router, but VPN and my ISP's e-mail service don't appear to work effectively (i.e. VPN *technically* works, but not the way it utilized to, e-mail just stopped operating). Very glossy case, shows fingerprints/smudges easily. Factory firmware is annoying to set up if you don't use the CD. So many characteristics in the DD-WRT firmware it's tough to list. Wonderful for something from a small household setting to an office to setting up a hotspot.

Slow latency.-Client support often rude at times ok but mostly USELESS. Read evaluations of what is supported by what firmware from another source than buffalotech.com. Not searching forward to walking for OIDs to monitor this factor. Clearly not for high-availability environments, but you must be using Cisco for that anyway... Rapidly, gigE switch works well, does not ever require a reboot. I wish the Ethernet activity LEDs were on the front of the case, they are impossible to see recessed in deep holes in the back. I have had this router a couple of months, I by no means tried the stock firmware, I loaded OpenWrt "backfire - RC4 immediatly. It has worked extremely well, so well, it essentially doubled my internet speed more than my old netgear router, and I watch netflix streaming videos from the world-wide-web on it typically.
